Cafe with Many Vegan Options at Kudoji Temple Hiking Entrance

*Update July 23, 2023:
Last month, a new vegan option was added. Japanese ramen, available only on the weekends, can be made vegan to order.

*Update Mar. 27, 2023:
The curry that used to be non-vegan here has been veganized!!! Now we have two vegan lunch options at this cafe: curry and soba. There is only one item on the menu now that still has meat in it (ham and cheese sandwich) - little by little this menu is becoming more vegan! 😁

*Update Dec. 1, 2022:
They started serving vegan soba! Up until now, only the sweets and drinks were vegan. It's nice to finally have a vegan lunch option at this cafe!

*On May 14, 2022, this cafe changed locations. There is no longer a view of Mt. Iwaki as I originally mentioned, but the new location is right next to the entrance of Kudoji Temple. There are many hiking trails here. They have indoor and outdoor seating at the new location! Most menu items are vegan, but you should ask if you're not sure. The owner is familiar with what is vegan and what isn't.

Original Review:

I was excited to come across this cafe which has vegan sweets and drinks and a nice view of Mt. Iwaki.

I tried the chocolate tofu cake and butterfly pea soy latte. My husband had the black sesame pudding. Everything was delicious! We asked the lady who runs the cafe if the curry was vegan, but unfortunately it has chicken in it. Still, it is a nice place to go for an afternoon coffee or tea with sweets! My drink came with a side of almonds which was also nice.

It's still pretty rare to find vegan cafes in Hirosaki, so I was happy to find this place that has lots of options.
