Simple & Reliable - Edit
This is one of my top 3 restaurants that's saved me on many hungry occasions. I recommend the Kung Pao Tofu.
Read moreIn contrast to other reviewers, my food arrives either after a normal delay or shockingly quick.
(Note - the North Park location gives you plastic silverware, which i find inferior.)
Pros: Lots of tasty protein, Very fast service
Cons: Unfancy interior, Some dishes are bland

Father's Day Dinner - Edit
Spicy Basil dish with tofu was really good. All of the veggies, tofu, and sauce were on point. My only issue was the fact that my dish was not spicy. Call it Spicy Basil, and I expect it to be somewhat spicy. Even asked for it to be hot, and that didn't even help.

Pot stickers were tasty.
Will definitely go back, and I still have to try the North Park location!
Pros: Sauce used as the base , Tofu & veggies , Garlic bits in the fries
Cons: Spicy it was not

Worst food I've had - Edit
Im really shocked this place is top rated. There were baby cockroaches in the bathroom and the food was so terrible that we left with our plates mostly untouched. The duck was mushy, and the food had a funky taste like it was spoiled.

Friendly service! - Edit
Edit again: I went back for vegan sushi and it was awesome.
Read moreEDIT: made it back and had the pad Thai - very generous portion and delicious! And no fish sauce! I had the fried tofu to avoid gluten but there is also a mock chicken option.
I stopped in for desert but not many gf options so I enjoyed a mango smoothie! Looks like lots of interesting entrees and not too pricey so I will be back to check out their other offerings. #Veganuary

Vegan Hot Dishes & Boba - Edit
My first time trying Sipz was at their North Park location, and I was disappointed. However, I wanted to try their vegan sushi (offered 4-9, Fri-Sun) and decided to give the Clairemont location a chance.
Read moreWe ordered two sushi rolls, dumpling soup, Thai iced tea (vegan), mango iced tea with boba, coconut cupcake, and chocolate cupcake. The sushi was good, and both rolls were heavy on the veg, which I liked. Vegan sushi (with veg proteins) is no longer as easy to get in San Diego, so I was beyond happy. The mango iced tea with boba was good, and boba is also sometimes hard to find vegan, so another win in my book. My boyfriend said his dumpling soup was fine, and he liked his Thai iced tea. The cupcakes were just okay. They were dry and dense. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu & vegan items.
Overall, Sipz is decent. It is still not my favorite, but I liked my meal and am glad I gave them another try.
Update: due to the convenience of this location, Sipz is growing on me. The Salt and Pepper dish is very delicious. The other hot dishes have all been good. The sushi is hit or miss, but since there are few vegan sushi spots in San Diego (this is a sensitive topic for me, I miss the old vast vegan selection), they get extra points. I also appreciate the vegan boba, and the staff is always very friendly, which makes Sipz a repeat place for me.

I tried both locations, too. I didn't like the North Park one, but I do like the Clairemont one. My wife, same.

Best vegan restaurant in SD - Edit
I have never had something here that I didn't like. The food is always freshly made and delicious, the staff provide excellent service, and the atmosphere is very down-to-earth. This is my favorite date spot and vegan restaurant in SD in general. This location is superior to the North Park one, as the vibe here is much more chill and they are open earlier.

Delicious, lots of variety & go-to veg place in San Diego. - Edit
Must try items: chikn drumsticks (although not GF), tempura shrimp aioli (can be made GF, minus tempura), Thai curry bowl is fab, as is the dynamite roll, shiitake sushi, California roll, basil eggplant, & drunken noodles. Mock shrimp can be bought frozen & uncooked for take-out.

Update on 10-9-33:
Read moreToday I ordered the Cream Cheese Crab Rangoon & the Salt & Pepper Tofu. Both were splendid! This was a “more deluxe” meal than my first meal here (see below), but both were excellent.
I’ve only eaten here once, but I did enjoy it quite a lot. But just seeing their extensive menu was quite impressive. I had the King Pao “Chicken” that consists of stir fry seitan & vegetables. While it is a good, basic Asian dish, I think next time I will try one of their more exotic dishes, but it was quite satisfying and I ate it greedily!

Delicious and Many Options - Edit
There aren’t too many vegan / vegetarian restaurants in San Diego so it’s nice to find a good one. This restaurant is located in a strip mall in Claremont Mesa (Near Kearny Mesa). The staff is friendly. The menu has many options including sushi. The food is served on nice resin plates.

The crab Rangoon was top tier and the pepper pork (although not a customer favorite) was great! It lacked veggies though, so I recommend ordering a veggie plate to go along with it to balance it out.

Everything I’ve tried tried here is perfect. The vegan shrimp is some of my favorite. The tom kah soup is so good and you get so much for what you pay for. Everyone that works here is also so nice!

One of my favorite places in San Diego. It is probably about 90% vegan. The dishes are Asian fusion style. So delicious and large portions! Recommend to anyone visiting. Get some Thai Tea. 🙂

Dynamite! - Edit
I live in Long Beach, but will invent reasons to go South just so we can eat at Sipz. The Dynamite sushi is everything! You must have it, so make sure you come after 5! Everything else on the menu is delicious... the servings are big, so consider sharing while you order more Sushi... I mean order more Dynamite rolls. If you do, bring some back to Long Beach and find me!
