Cooperative market providing selections in deli food, fresh produce, vitamins, supplements, bulk staples, chilled and frozen food, personal care products, natural products, and more. Open Mon-Sat 9:00am-7:00pm, Sun 11:00am-5:00pm.
I was in search of food to continue my road trip and was hoping to find something more substantial than snacks. I assume the variety of grab n go foods can change here, but there were 3 options for vegans & I bought all 3 and loved them. The hungry vegan burrito (a basic burrito), a BBQ tofu & slaw burrito, and a spicy peanut sauce tofu & slaw burrito. I also briefly looked around the rest of the co-op and there was a decent selection of vegan foods, from fresh produce to refrigerated & frozen items as well as dry goods. They also have a bulk section and you get a credit when you bring in your own containers!
Options are few and far between in this part of New Mexico. Place is smaller than regular store but they have all you could want or need. AND if they don’t have it, they’ll order it for you. People are always friendly and helpful. Love it!
Small place but they have everything I need & great produce! Like others said, the vegan reuben is amazing & they always seem to have several vegan sandwiches/wraps or other prepared foods.
This is a great little co-op where you can get some staples like cheese and Vegenase. The sandwiches are the real star, though. The tempeh Reuben is fantastic. It's unconventional for a Reuben in that it's served cold and is loaded with veggies like tomatoes and red peppers and it's one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The curried tofu is excellent, too. I'm thankful this exists in a town that's a real vegan food desert.
Some folks who work at the co-op offer friendly, conscientious service. However, I've had alarmingly rude experiences there at times.
Also: I have twice contacted the store through their website contact form, but have never gotten a response. I am not inclined to patronize a store — let alone a "co-op" where my queries receive no response.
There are actually other sources of whole organic and local foods in the area, and they will be receiving my patronage in the future.
I went here to restock on vegan protein for a long distance bike tour. I was happy with the variety of vegan protein bars that were available, though I would have liked to see more protein powders without sweetners (eg stevia, sucrolose).
The store also has a decent sized ready-meal section with lots of vegan options. The tempeh sandwich I got was one of the best I’ve ever had!
Overall I’m very happy with this store and found it to be a real life saver in an area with few quick and easy vegan options.
Has all of my staple vegan brands I'm used to finding in the big city! Tofurkey, Vegenaise, Chao slices, Earth Balance butter, etc., among many others. It's very nice to have this option while visiting family.
I waltzed into this co-op while visiting Silver City for the first time. It is quite small and crowded but has some very precious "gems" inside. Currently the Kumquats are priced amazingly well and organic! They are only $4.50 per pound versus $5 per pound at Albertsons! I wish I had stayed a little longer to look at everything they offered, but from what I could tell it had your basic health foods and a great bulk bin selection. It's not outstanding but it is fantastic!
