Expensive but worth it - Edit
The food was absolutely delicious, with clear vegan options available. Although it was quite expensive, the quality made it worth it. I highly recommend the crispy aubergine and the okonomi – both were outstanding. Definitely worth the splurge!

Good choice - Edit
They have a lot of vegan dishes. I recommend to go there with a group so you can share a lot of diffrent things. I had the makirolls and the eggplant-fingers. Both were very delicious. Staff was also friendly.

Fantastic Asian food - Edit
Really enjoyed the food here. A lot of choice as the menu allowed for veganising plenty of dishes by having without egg, fish sauce etc. Miso glazed aubergine was beautiful. Also had kimchi fried rice, veganised pad Thai with tofu which was excellent and sweet and spicy tofu. Good drinks also. Everything was well noted through the menu so made very easy to find the vegan offerings.

Amazing vegan options - Edit
The menu shows you how to make certain dishes vegan by suggesting substitutes or omissions. This was very helpful.
Read moreBoth my dishes (starter = crispy aubergine and main = veggie pancake) were wonderfully delicious. My omni husband really enjoyed his choices too.
Great to have such a varied selection of vegan food!

Awsome Asian - Edit
Reading previous reviews almost didn’t go into silk for dinner what a mistake that would have been. The staff and service really friendly. Waitress informed about what and how to veganise a menu … Food was freshly cooked and delicious .. We had deep fried aubergine slices in panco crumb’s with dipping sauce, crispy vegetable pancake rolls veg Pad Thai with side of tofu and Hong Kong style udon noodles with a side of tofu … Great portion sizes at around same bill size as a dinner at Pho or Wagamama .. Best vegan meal in Split for us the purely plant based restaurants we have found have been much more expensive for a dinner menu and less tasty generally

Needs improvement - Edit
Have more vegan option, and the price should be more reasonable not 7 euros for a portion of edamame and 5 euros for water.

The Okonomiyaki was incredible - Edit
Please do yourself a favour and order the okonomiyaki. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. It can get very busy and people will wait in line for a table, but once you get your table, you can have a really good time. Nice place if you are going out with omnivores.

Yummy Hong Kong Noodles - Edit
I was really craving an Asian dish and found exactly what I wanted: delicious Hong Kong noodles with tofu. It wasn't on the menu as a vegan dish, but the staff was really flexible in veganizing the dishes. You do have to pay extra for adding tofu.
Read moreOnly after ordering I saw it was advertised as spicy, oh no! But I was lucky, because it wasn't too spicy to me. I have very sensitive taste buds, so if you like spicy food I think you should ask for extra spicy.

Delicious! - Edit
The staff was really knowledgeable about the foods that could be veganized, I ordered the Hongkong Udon with extra tofu and it was one of the best vegan meals I had in Split! The location is nice and the waiters really friendly. Would recommend!

Okay food - Edit
Food was 3 stars but the fast service made it to 3.5 stars. Ordered pad thai as a vegan and it was good, could have had more spices. Food was ready in like 5 minutes, staff spoke fluent english. Good portion sizes

Would not go back - Edit
Food was ok, and the miso-glazed aubergine as a starter was especially good. But they were out of tofu on a friday, which they only noticed when we had already ordered, and weren't really sorry - they waiter just said "we're not a vegan place". Didn't come across as vegan friendly although the menu had clear markings about vegan options. The waiters had too little to do and stood around staring us while we ate, which was awkward. I'd revisit only if this was one of very few restaurants in town with vegan options, but as it's not I'd rather take my business elsewhere.

Food tasted reheated from frozen. - Edit
I ordered the okonomiyaki with vegetables and no mayo. It tasted like it had been reheated from frozen and was still a bit cold in the middle. Not only that the "vegetables" inside it were peas carrots and corn. It was so bad that I thought about just leaving it but I would feel awful wasting food so I stomached it. If you're a solo traveler they will seat you at a big table with others without masks which is not very covid friendly.

Underwhelming - Edit
As far as Japanese/pan-Asian food outside of Asia goes this is not my favorite. The okonomiyaki was actually pretty bad, not even just ok. The kimchi fried rice also tastes nothing like…kimchi fried rice. A bit of a miss for me.

Go here and get the pad thai - Edit
There are a few vegan options. The restaurant as a whole is a 10/10 -- outdoor seating, you order at the counter and then they bring the food to you, non-smoking tables, and they're very straightforward about how that all works and when they want you to pay and whatnot for a seamless experience. Not too expensive, and right in a cute alley in the old town.
Read moreThe pad thai is one of the most interesting dishes I've had recently. It's not what you're used to...the noodles are much fatter, and they're delightfully squishy. Ask for it without egg -- they're happy to oblige. Whenever I get back to Split (hopefully soon), I'm getting more pad thai (even though it is not actually pad thai) from this place.
Pros: Delicious food, Nice vibe, Helpful staff

So pleasantly surprised!! - Edit
We went here as a slight last resort and were so pleasantly surprised. They seemed to fully understand vegan and when they came to serve the food and I double checked they went back to the kitchen to confirm which gave me peace of mind.
Read moreWe had edamame, the spring rolls (ask for no prawns) which were actually more like summer rolls and had really nice hoisin and satay dips. The miso aubergine was also really good.
For mains we had pad thai (no egg or fish sauce) which was delish, and my fave dish we asked for the hong kong udon noodles without egg and they confirmed would be vegan, and they were amazing!!
There was also sticky rice with mango and coconut milk marked vegan for dessert but sadly they had ran out
Pros: Understand vegan, Friendly, Good value
Cons: Only outside seating (could be hot)

Decided to try Silk for a change. Vegan options marked on the menu alongside vegetarian ones. I was told that some of the dishes marked vegetarian rather than vegan like the gyoza have egg in the pastry so best to stick to the clearly marked vegan options.
Read moreI had the Edamame beans, miso glazed aubergine and the pad Thai (no fish sauce, no egg). I originally wanted the vegan spring rolls but they had run out of pastry.
As always it's best to be vigilant when eating in non-vegan restaurants. My pad Thai came to the table with egg in it but I alerted the waitress who got me a fresh one made and offered me a free drink to compensate. A mistake handled really well I felt.
The food itself was tasty and fresh. It's a good option for eating with others who aren't vegan themselves.
Pros: Clearly marked vegan options
Cons: Some options unavailable

So yummy! - Edit
I ate at Silk on my last night and was sad that I hadn't been sooner! Quite a few options and the menu is really clear e.g. tells you how it can be made vegan if it's not listed as vegan already. I shared a few dishes including the miso glazed aubergine, spring rolls with peanut satay sauce and the okonomiyaki pancake (no mayo makes it vegan) - so delish! Two drinks, ywo mains and two sides came to 340 kuna. Not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive for a big meal. Really tasty - loved it!

Solid Thai food - Edit
We went to Silk twice. They have both vegan and non vegan dishes like pad Thai and curry. We got the pad Thai first time around without the egg and it was great. We also got the udon street noodles also without the egg 2 times and both times it was amazing. We also got the red curry which was delicious but I did find a piece of chicken in it which was upsetting to say the least. All things considered, I am giving them 4 stars because mistakes happen. Make sure to ask for no egg and fish sauce.
