a new favourite - Edit
Okay, I’ve only been here once and I’m calling it a favourite but I can’t help it! It ticked so many of my boxes. A new small business in what for years was a greasy old takeaway shop on Victoria St. It has been fitted out in relaxed, cozy Brunswick style. Pretty sure the business is owned by the friendly people who work there, it had that homey vibe. The vegan calamari, made with assorted mushrooms is a huge serve for $9! Served with crisp iceberg to wrap ‘em in, a few herbs, and sriracha mayo. Something about the batter gives it a convincing buttery, calamari flavour, even though it’s obviously juicy mushrooms. I also ordered the lemongrass tofu salad that was also a very generous serve. A lot of food for one person, I didn’t know if I’d finish but I did because it was just so delicious! The salad was loaded with herbs and a zesty dressing, studded with plenty of chewy fried tofu pieces. It really surprised me with its unique flavours. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu here!
