Mostly deep fried stuff

I had high expectations based on the other reviews here but unfortunately, most things are just deep fried stuff in batter. Not to say it wasn’t good, it all tasted fine. However, it was all very greasy and pretty expensive. Wouldn’t go here again.

Pros: All vegan

Cons: All deep fried food

Cute place ✨

Such a cute place with friendly staff. I tried the ramen - which was good and the earthmeat katsudon - outstanding. As for the kushikatsu, i enjoyed the pumpkin one a lot, earthmeat and zucchini was great, but the sweet potato one was so hard to eat.

Lovely place to end a Shinsekai trip

We ended our day at Shinsekai eating here. It was amazing, friendly staff, all vegan.

We had beer, ramen and some sides. All amazing

Very disappointed

Had a very disappointing experience . We booked a space in advance earlier in the day and even took the time to meet with the chef to discuss our timing and requirements for a 6:30 PM dinner. We confirmed our reservation by calling half an hour before we left, but upon arrival, we were shocked to find that our food was delayed by an hour.

The only explanation we received was that they had unexpectedly more customers. While I understand that things can get busy, the lack of communication and the way my family and I were treated is unacceptable. We felt overlooked and unvalued as customers, and it definitely ruined our evening.

I don't think I'll be returning to paprika Shokudo anytime soon. I hope they can improve their service for future guest

Excellent Osaka food

Great little spot with sheeting for about 12 inside and more outside.

Down a small alley off the main strip in Janjan-Yokocho (Nanyo-dori Shopping Street)
南陽通商店街 (ジャンジャン横丁). Find the hanging neon sign outside.

Ordered the kushikatsu, takoyaki, and a tea. Super yummy, oishī! Pricing was really good and they had a great J-rock playlist going. Totally recommend this place.

Not bad.😅

The entrance to this place can be a bit tricky to find.
However, the restaurant is cute, and they offer a wide variety of dishes.
The smashed cucumber, king oyster mushrooms with butter, and takoyaki were delicious.
That said, I’m not sure I would return.

My boyfriend mentioned that the original Paprika Shokudo location was a bit better.

普通

串カツはサクサクでおいしかった!ソースがちょっと微妙かも。串カツのソースっぽくない。B級グルメ攻めるならもっと本格的にやってほしいと思った。

Vegan option for traditional Osaka food

The small street looks not so friendly but as soon as you enter the small restaurant it is very nice. The portions are rather on the small side but still filling.

Wonderful food in busy area

A small and slightly difficult to find restaurant in a side alley of the busy Shinsekai area. But absolutely worth it!

We had a tofu rice dish which was delicious, and a soy milk ramen, a first for us. It was amazing - really deep flavours. Reminded me a bit of massaman curry sauce. The taste was so good.

We also had a selection of fried vegetable skewers, of which the shitake mushrooms were the best.

Beware the first restaurant at the start of the alley. They spot people going down to the vegan restaurant and try to entice you in by pointing to the veg and vegan menu choices they have. Don't fall for it - head on down till you see the neon sign!

Mes premiers takoyaki !

Service et lieu très agréable 🤝 Légèrement déçu par leurs kushikatsu que l'on a trouvé un peu fade, on s'est rabattu sur la soupe miso et les takoyaki qui était très bon !

Loved the service and traditional options

Loved this restaurant, right in an arcade of games and street vendors which made for great ambiance. We tried many of the fried vegetable skewers (beyond meat, seitan soy meat, broccoli, lotus root, asparagus, banana for dessert), miso soup, buttered corn, soy sauce & butter enoki, takoyaki. All were delicious and well worth ordering. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Pros: Great service, Good options, all vegan , Small dishes so you can try many different dishes

Cons: Pricey for Japan but worth it

Pretty good but expensive

Like some other comments mentioned, the price is a bit high compared to proportions, but the food was pretty good in general and the service was fast. Ordered via a tablet. In an odd location though

Great fried food in hidden location

I very much enjoyed the food and the staff were super friendly, however the price you pay for such a small portion is hard to justify. It's great food, but your yen won't get you far.

Pros: The food, The staff, The location

Cons: Price, Portion size

Delicious fried Japanese food!

Great Food! It’s located in the back of an alley, do not get distracted by a restaurant close by that says “vegan options”

Food was wonderful, delicious fried skewers!

Delicious vegan Japanese food

Delicious Japanese food, friendly staff. They told me to order through QR code but I think there's a paper menu with a lot more options on it.

nice fried stuff and vegan ice cream

It is a nice place at a backstreet where you can sit inside and outside away from the peopleish city.
The food is good, especially I liked the skewers (yakitori style), a must order in my opinion.
But: on most of the dishes (also the noodles) there was a lot of mayonnaise on it, that i had to put away to eat it. Also everything was very greasy, what I didn’t appreciate too much.
Still it was all nice, I would definitely come again. If you’re hungry you have to order a few dishes (me at least) what quicky raises the bill to 4-5k p.p. (including a drink and a dessert) what stil is very ok.
I also liked homemade the matcha ice cream.
Food is orders via a order system that you access through a QR code. I liked that! Also the food comes quick.

Pros: Skewers (yakitori style), vegan matcha ice cream , order system (digital and quick)

Cons: Too much mayonnaise on some dishes , a little too oily for my taste (some dishes).

Friendly & cute restaurant, great food!

Loved it! Had the tempeh stir-fry rice bowl. (Tempeh is cut thicker then I usually prefer, but was still delicious.)
My mom ordered the gyoza and salad and also loved it.

Good for sharing

I ate here with my boyfriend, who eats meat. We were a bit skeptical after reading some of the lower star reviews, but were pleasently surprised. I had one of the assorted vegetable skewers with beyond meet, the vegan takoyaki, the brown rice bowl and the butter corn. He had two of the rice dishes and the fried cheese. I would especially recommend the takoyaki and rice dishes. The skewers tasted like a lot of other deep fried vegetable I’ve eaten during our trip. They give you a sauce for them though, which I liked. You can skip the brown rice ball. A good place to order a bit of everything and share. I was full and satisfied after my meal. The biggest downside is the price.

Pros: Lots of options, Made fresh, Tastes good

Cons: Expensive

Not mine

Its like Tapas with deep fried stuff. Full vegan but if you are hungry you need to order a lot (which will make it expensive).

A little bit disappointing

I really want to support vegan places, but we‘ve been a little disappointed.
We had the vegan Takoyaki (I think with mushroom inside), miso soup and vegan kushikatsu and choose tempeh, mochi, eringi, shishito pepper and a sort of beans. It was a little bit boring and we were still hungry. 😜

Pros: Nice place, Fresh made

Cons: Little portions, Tasted a little bit boring
