Good enough

Lots of vegan options, but Dragon ramen wasn't something special.
Will try next time other food too!

Best ramen I’ve had!

Literally the best ramen my whole japan trip. Went twice while I was here and both ramens were fantastic in their own way. The vegan fried chicken and gyoza were very enjoyable too. Went with my omni friends and they loved their meals. Service was warm and friendly. The waiter also gave us a map for vegan food around Tokyo. I can’t recommend this place enough!!

Pros: Fully vegan restaurant, Best ramen ever, Amazing service

Cons: A bit crammed but who cares lol

Small but enjoyable cafe

Small place located across from a school in a small street. Very small inside, only 2 tables and a couple of bar chairs. The lunch menu is small I suggest going for dinner if you want all options. I chose the regular vegan ramen. The chef is also the server, he is very friendly to foreigners and happy to answer questions. He even gives you a vegan map of Tokyo and a rewards card. This wasn't my favourite ramen in Tokyo but I still really enjoyed trying something new.

Pros: Friendly chef

Cons: Not many seats

Lovely small restaurant on a quiet street

Very cozy raised platform eating area. Had a nice time chatting with the chef and looking at all the odd trinkets. Ramen with excellent thick broth. Thought it was a fair price, but compared with other rating on happy cow maybe this place should be $$ instead of $, also factoring in the neighborhood.

Such a lovely experience!

This place has the best vegan ramen in Tokyo! It's also super cute and cozy, and the chefs/owners were so kind and fun. I loved chatting with them and eating here so much I came back another time and brought my family along. They also give student discounts!

Absolutely delicious, and totally vegan menu. The cooks/owners were so kind and even gave us a vegetarian map of Tokyo. Can't recommend this place enough. Even though it's very small (less than 10 seats) please stop by if you can!

Pros: All vegan menu, English menu available , Friendly owners

Cons: Less than 10 seats

Amazing dining experience

Small restaurant with wonderful staff. The waiter was very friendly and asked a bit about us, then customized the gyozas to fit the theme of "environment" after learning we study environmental science which was cool! The food was delicious. The regular bowls were definitely big so ordering a large is probably unnecessary. After we left the waiter gave us a leaflet for VegeProject Japan with a map of all the best vegan restaurants across Japan and some helpful information about veganism and requesting vegan options in japanese. Overall an amazing dining experience!

Pros: Delicious food, Wonderful staff, Lots of effort with customer service

Cons: Some of the food was a bit oily (fried soy meats)

Small Homey Vegan Shop

Read the Vegan Tokyo Guide on https://itravelforveganfood.com/vegan-tokyo-guide/

This small homely shop sells traditional Japanese food like ramen and gyozas, and everything is vegan!

The shop is a good 10-15 minute walk from Shimo-Kitazawa station. I would recommend walking from there as there are quite a lot of small shops and often the area is dubbed Tokyo’s Bohemian neighborhood.

Yakuzenshokudo Chabuzen is a small local restaurant with less than 10 seats. 3 of which are bar seats that face the kitchen, and the rest are traditional tatami seats.

I ordered a regular ramen, fried garlic gyozas and grilled soy meat. All the food is made fresh by the owner.

The highlight of the meal is the grilled soy meat. It is grilled with some Japanese sauce until the sauce is absorbed into the meat. To some, it may be a bit on the salty side, but overall it’s very flavorful and delicious.

The ramen broth is also mixed and cooked at the spot. With a mix of different sauces and seasonings, overall it’s good, though not as complex as say, T’s tantan ramen soup base. The only toppings except some veggies are two pieces of tofu puff pieces. The ramen itself is quite chewy.

The garlic gyozas are very crispy and garlic-y.

Although the food is not too impressive, there’s something special of the owner/chef cooks for you in a small, intimate shop.

Pros: All vegan traditional Japanese cuisine, Friendly owner in a small shop

Cons: Quite a walk from Shimo-Kitazawa station, The shop is a bit old

Very small and lovely place. We had ramen for breakfast today and it was the best ramen I’ve had and I’m a big ramen fan. Highly recommended.

Pros: Super good food!, Very nice owner, Cares for animals (not trendy health vegan)

Cons: I wish the place was in Sweden, Because then I would , Eat there every week

Homey atmosphere

A small homey restaurant with just a few seats. The owners were very kind and helpful and readily made adjustments to the dishes per our request. We had the fried garlic gyoza, the curry ramen and the tan-tan ramen. They made the gyoza right at the counter in front of us. The ramen tasted great and different from any other ramen I had tried, I think it's their original home-made yeast seasoning. The gyoza was just okay, the filling was a bit sparse.

Cute shop!

A very small, homey little restaurant - only two tables and three bar seats. Very tiny kitchen, almost feels like being at someone’s place being served homecooked food. This all fits very well together with the fact that the owners are literally the most friendly and welcoming people ever! We ordered ramen and gyoza and the owner shaped the gyoza to spell ”wisdom” and was so excited about it and gave us a good laugh! When we pointed out the ”s” was backwards, he looked shocked and apologized and offered us some complementary banana and cocoa for dessert, haha! Cute. I was happy to see that they are very proud of using only vegan, organic ingredients without additives, and they will tell you all about it! The owners definitely make the whole experience something special. Thanks for having us (and if you read this - thanks for the help with the bike)! We’ll be back :)

Intimate ramen experience

While this is my favourite vegan ramen in Tokyo, please don’t miss the other items on the menu! The pasta bolgnese is my favourite along with the chilli gyoza.

Granted, don’t eat here if you’re very sensitive the lack of perfect cleanliness. However I don’t mind the “at your granpas place” feeling the restaurant got.

Pros: Awesome ramen, Awesome bolgnese, Cozy place

Cons: A bit dirty sometimes

The store is located in the middle of residential area.
There are two chabudai tables and counter seats to sit.
Ramens are highly recommended.

Pros: you can choose two different kind if noodles.it’s

Cons: dumplings are too oily in my opinion.

Lovely restaurant

The restaurant itself is quite small, but it’s really charming, as you can basically watch your food being prepared. The whole menu is vegan and the staff happily gives you additional information (in English) to the dishes. Definitely worth a visit!

Pros: unexpensive dishes, friendly, English speaking staff, Quiet location

Lovely homely ramen

This restaurant is quite unique, extremely small area but still holds charm! It was very interesting being able to watch the owner make our meals from scratch, he truly knows how to make a nice meal!
The ramen is very homely, and rich in flavour. It's quite a thick broth, definitely perfect in colder climates. The real standout were the gyoza though. They were made from scratch and deep fried, and I don't think I've ever had a gyoza or dumpling taste so good, it was amazing!!
Definitely a great experience and would come back if in the area!

Pros: Friendly service, Lovely home-made food

Yummy but hot

Must’ve went on the hottest day and it was almost unbearably hot in this restaurant... Food was great though, unfortunately he was out of the mapo tofu which we wanted to try, but we enjoyed the dragon ramen and the tomato soup pasta. This place is very small, just two tables to fit maybe three each if you squeeze, but quite out of the way so it may be unlikely that it is full. Chef was very friendly and spoke some English.

Pros: All vegan

Cons: Hot inside in summer

tiny, tasty ramen shop

Chabuzen is a one-man ramen shop that is cozy and worth the trek. We ordered a delicious appetizer of fried soy meat and the dragon ramen. The ramen was tasty and creamy, and watching the chef prepare it was a treat. The only con was that the ramen had a lot of oil in it and upset my stomach a bit later. Would still recommend, though, as the entire experience was one of a kind.
