Decent Vegan Food - Edit
At Vegfest, I grabbed a vanilla shake and a cheeseburger wrap. That vanilla shake totally hit the spot, and the vibe of the food truck was awesome!

Worst vegan food I've ever had - Edit
If you've never had great vegan food this might be tolerable. If you've had great vegan food this place is terrible. Worst vegan resturants I've ever been to

Amazing food in a fun throwback atmosphere - Edit
The 70s-80s atmosphere makes the restaurant an adorable and comfy space for enjoying all of their phenomenal food options! From entrees to desserts, everything we tried was delicious. Numerous prepackaged options to take home after your meal as well, including casseroles an tons of desserts. We had the chili cheese fries, a coney style hotdog, milkshakes, and a ton of to go goodies.

I had a chili and a burger...yummy. I loved the owner who waited on me, the theme and a sweet dog. There were donation clothes at the entrance and a community feel

Disappointing - Edit
I love that this place has so much that I can eat as a GF vegan, but at the same time, I've never been impressed by a single thing I've tried, and everything seems kind of overpriced. It's a cute shop, and I believe in what they're doing, but honestly I wouldn't recommend their food to a friend.

Great food - Edit
Their sweet potato fries, burgers, and Cookie Monster shake are all delicious! I just think the prices are a bit off - the burgers are cheap but fries are too expensive and things like dipping sauce and cheese for nachos is extra. They need to have a combo deal.

Cheese on nachos is extra! - Edit
Very cute vintage space, this was my first time visiting the brick and mortar store. I've enjoyed the Southwest burger and chili cheese fries from the truck previously. The cookie monster milkshake is a favorite. The nachos were ok. The cheese costs extra which doesn't make sense to me. Nachos without cheese wouldn't be nachos.

Cons: Expensive., Small menu.

I hope to go again someday, it’s off the beaten path for me, but I am very grateful I got to go even if it was only one. Great place great food great people. Thanks HappyCow for helping me enjoy dining out as an almost vegan, this app is a godsend for people who are really trying, we get to find great places like this that we would never have discovered otherwise!

Some good, some bad - Edit
In a world of Impossible and Beyond burgers, Shimmy Shack's gray mush of flavorless lentils and rice on a bun is incredibly disappointing; I would seriously reconsider that menu item. On the other hand, their nachos, shakes, cookies, and more are very good, even if a bit pricey. Updated from previous review on 2019-02-21

Fries - Edit
Yummy fries and I loved mostly all of their sauces, but the burger that I got was slightly disappointing-- did not have good flavor and was small. I'd say if you see this food truck, take a visit for the fries and a shake!

Vegan food truck - Edit
Rated 1 of 5 top food trucks in the US. How cool is that? I went to the VegMichigan summer festival last weekend, where the truck was one of the food vendors. LOOOOOOOOONG line for the food. Finally ordered after almost an hour in line. Ordered a coney, double hamburger and shake. Shake came out first and was almost gone by the time the coney & hamburger were made. I'm hoping that the portion size was scaled down for the festival, because if it wasn't ... Almost $20 for the 3 items. Coney was a small veg dog on an extremely hard bun (whole wheat perhaps). When you put the dog in first, topped by chili, it's bound to happen. The bottom of the bun broke when I took the first bite, spilling everything out into the plate. Wound up eating all the "deconstructed" coney parts separately. Hamburger was just as small, on yet another hard bun. Of course, the patty disintegated upon the first bite. Same as the coney, I wound up eating all the different ingredients separately. The food was good, just the construction was sorely lacking.

a food truck of our own - Edit
Finally a vegan food truck. I caught them at the Eastern Market a few Sunday's ago and had chili cheese fries. It was delicious (and perfect hangover fare). I wish their menu was slightly expanded to include Mac and Cheese or something as decadent. If you "like" their Facebook page you will get notified of their appearance.

I have a gluten intolerance, so when I first saw this truck at Vegfest MI, I was so excited to try it! Everything is vegan and gluten free and DELICIOUS. A little pricey, but people will pay to get good vegan food like this!

Yummy/healthy options - Edit
The truck was at Peacefest in Waterford two weeks ago! Wow! We eat gluten and dairy free, and organic as much as possible-this food satisfied my picky husband who loved their sweet potato and black bean chili, as well as their vegan everything cookies! Their vegan milkshakes were very refreshing and fabulous tasting! Thank you for offering these healthy choices when we were out and about!!!

catch them when you can - Edit
Shimmy Shack is a real treat. They are all vegan and offer 3 sandwiches, nachos, fries (both sweet potato and reg) and some rockin' shakes. Try the black bean burger with the works and dip your fries into their Shimmy Sauce. They are super friendly. Lately they have been at the Farmington winter market every Saturday. They list where they will be on their website. Worth the trip!
