Tibetan. Simple. Tasty. Filling.

Greens, beans, roots, and rice. That’s the basic breakdown. Came with a hot soup to start. The daily menu is simple. You can choose the full or moderate size, and between seasoned and unseasoned. Tastes like they are sharing what they cooked in their own kitchen. There is also a selection of pies, cookies, and coconut balls. The cookies seemed to be gluten free, but I didn’t ask. The pies are raw food pies.

I enjoyed everything a great deal, and plan to return.

Pros: All vegan , Cayenne and sesame shakers at the table!, Very attentive and quick to clear dishes.

Cons: ... 🤔, Nope. None.

Good, solid veggie food

An old-school vegetarian restaurant but w a modern touch. Very tasty, very well-made and in a peaceful environment in the middle of the city. They have a fixed menu, but it always ends up being a delicious, full meal. They make a version with no spices.

Pros: Delicious, well-balanced meal, Peaceful atmosphere

One of my favorite restaurants. I can’t inderstand how they make this simple food taste so wonderful. Restaurant isn’t much to look at but one of my favorites. Unusually get food to go from both locations.

Peaceful space with delicious meals

Shangri-La serves a soup and a plate of five items: rice, beans, salad, greens, and roasted veggies. Everything is cooked just the right amount and covered with a homemade made sauce. You can add sesame seeds or hot pepper for extra flavor.

They have indoor and outdoor seating, meditative music, and self-serve twig tea and water. The slices of raw pie aren't bad.

Pros: Delicious, fresh, simple food, Don't have to decide which dishes to order

Cons: Lack of variety

Odd service/bland food/yucky water.

We went to eat something different, it sounded this place was the perfect fit for it, however, we couldn't get answers about the seasoning were soy free, since we are allergic to it, we don't mess with it. The waiter approached us and we asked him if he had food soy free, then, he walked away that was very odd since it was our first time here and we didn't know the place. They had plain food called the simple plate, wasn't that 'bad' it wasn't a great experience, but we hope that in the future way in the future someone would be able to answer our questions acknowledging our concerns about soy.

Pros: All vegan, Whole Foods , organic

Cons: yucky water, confusing structure. , limited options, bland food: couldn't tell us what the dressing

Feel-good food

This food and service honestly leaves you feeling so good inside. Unlimited Kukicha Twig tea is very warming and pairs with their delicious food. Only have one option, but I believe it changes from lunch to dinner. Go there hungry, portions are huge.

Shangri-la - fantastic place for lunch!

Whenever i need a healthy reset, this is where i can go. Menu changes every day, but the moderate plan has a great soup starter. Followed by a heaping mound of incredible tasting in season veggies. Never disappoints!
Quite, quirky little place.

Pros: Healthy

High Vibration - Amazingly Gooood Food

The food not only tastes so good, healthy, and wholesome - but you feel good and energized from it too; a testament to the consciousness of the cooks, intentions of the establishment, and quality selection of ingredients. There's no bells, whistles, or thrills with the menu - just a solid plate of goodness to nutrify your being. One the best meals I've ever bought at a restaurant in my life.

Pros: amazing tasting food, high vibrational food , good feelz food

Cons: maybe they could have herbal tea too... that'd be

Horrible personnel

We arrived there at 2:50 and the guy there said they are closing and don't serve food anymore.
He said they opened a new place nearby and that place is still open so we should go there. We drove there 6 min and they were closed. "Wonderful "experience, as we were in a hurry and starving. Never again for me.

Cons: bored, horrible personnel

Wonderful

I love this place! It's clean, delicious, and beautifully presented. It feels good in here, and on the outside seating area. Everyone working here smiles. It's fast.
It's all organic, vegan, and gluten-free (except for some of the baked goods)
You get a plate of lovely food for less than $15.
I ordered the full and first a nice soup was served. Tea is free. Then a plate with brown rice, kale with a mushroom sauce, broccoli, salad and kidney beans.
It was all delicious, and I could barely finish my plate, but I did, as it was breakfast and lunch for me! But next time I will get the moderate!!

Pros: organic, happy, delicious

Compassionate dining

Shangri-la is certainly one of the healthiest places to eat in the Bay Area, offering homestyle, organic, vegan eats in a warmly casual setting. It's a bit like eating a meal at a friend's house, if that friend is a creative and health-conscious cook.

We very much appreciate that they make a point of serving organic food.

Pros: Organic, all vegan, warm service

Macrobiotic heaven

Other than an incredible macrobiotic restaurant I've once been to in Zagreb, this was by far the most amazing macro experience I've had.

The flavors are just scrumptious and rich and yet the dishes are delightfully simple. Probably the best part for me is that it is so filling and leaves you really feeling nourished. The atmosphere is just lovely and the customer service is great..!

Pros: delicious, simple, flavorful

Good food for good people

I was very impressed with how delicious the simple fare is at Shangri-La. This style of cooking, to me, really seems the most ideal. I've only eaten there once so far (I uploaded 2 pictures above), but this style of highly-flavorful grains, greens, and beans just feels really right to me. Like, this is how the world should eat, almost always. Not extravagant, but joyful and satisfying and, truly, quite tasty.

As others have written, there are not multiple menu options, just a large or a small order of what they're making that day, which, again, seems like the most real, holistic way to do food.

The large order came with a very decent-sized bowl of soup and my dining companion told me that, as per following a Buddhist sensibility, they combine all the leftover food from the day before to make today's soup. The soup was transcendent. Really, a very excellent soup, and it has inspired ME to use leftovers to make soup as well. It's actually awakened in me an exciting new cooking method.

Definitely check this place out. It's not about ambiance, or creating some phony Eastern vibe. It's true food -- caring and egalitarian and well-practiced and simply delicious.

Food was really good

We went to this location for lunch on Sat. March 2. The neighborhood is pretty bad, but we expected it due to earlier reviews. The gal who seated and served us was very attentive and polite. Don't expect ambiance, as there isn't any. It feels like a dining hall. That said, the only reason to go out to eat is the food. Here they shine. We had the regular sized plates, which were more than I could eat, though my husband and teenage daughter finished theirs. The mung bean soup was good, reminiscent of lentil. The plate had five items piled on it. Kale steamed with a shitake leek sauce, black eyed peas with cumin and onions, curried mixed vegetables, spring mix salad with a fabulous dressing and brown rice. The large plate must be enormous, as the regular size was served on a 10" plate. Water and a hot tea are offered complimentary for beverages. The vegan dark chocolate cookie was really good, pass on the two fruit filled options. We will be making the trip here again soon.

Pros: Great food, Nice staff, Good value with large portions

Cons: Location, Atmosphere, No other beverages offered

I love this place

There's nothing fancy about Manzanita, but if you want delicious, healthy food in a peaceful atmosphere, this is the place. The menu isn't extensive - each day, there is a meal made up of multiple offerings (usually soup, greens, grains and beans) that you can order "moderate" or "large" sized, or you can choose the lighter plate, which is a lighter meal with less oil. Everything tastes great and feels so healthy, so you can easily justify one of the vegan baked treats for dessert!

Pros: Healthy, Peaceful, Delicious

Cons: Not a lot of variety, No alcoholic beverages
