A reliable option, when in the area - Edit
Popular with locals for the value offered: inexpensive with large portions. For me, the main attractions are location and business hours. Although there are many vegetarian eateries in the area surrounding the hospital, it is not easy to find one open on Mondays or during the hours from 2-5PM. On my three trips here, I've tried the pot-stewed noodles (鍋燒拉麵), dumplings (水餃), dry sesame noodles (麻醬乾麵), and spicy sesame noodle soup (麻辣湯麵). While the fare was not highly memorable, it was not below average. The seating area is comfortable.
Read moreThere's no English menu (I've uploaded translations of only a few items). Although I didn't have the time to attempt ordering in English, the server always seemed cheerful and ready to help - and even dropped a few English words here and there. The Google Translate app can help overcome language issues:
1. Copy and paste this into the app's left text box: 請問哪些是全素的？ (Excuse me, which ones are vegan?)
2. With 'Chinese' or 'Detect language' selected, press or click the speaker icon below the left text box, while pointing at the menu
3. Optionally, lip-synch along with the speaker's perfect Mandarin, for comic effect
When I asked, I was told all the noodle dishes are vegan, along with a few rice dishes.
Summary: while I would not make a trip here just for the food, when already in the area, and preferable nearby places are closed, this is a reliable backup.
