Nice! - Edit
Only positive things to say! Nice place, nice staff, nice food. Once again the appetizers at Shamballa are the things worth mentioning, they are so good! The main courses are okay, but nothing special.

A real top place in HCMC - Edit
The staff was so helpful and the food was so good. The restaurants interior was very creative, especially with the outdoor area between the two main buildings. Good value for money

Must visit! - Edit
This is possibly the most amazing restaurant I’ve visited in HCMC so far. Plenty of clearly marked vegan items. Great service. Traditional dishes. English on the menu.
Read moreDon’t let the three dollar signs fool you. While it may be pricey as far as HCMC, it is still super affordable.

Lovely place but average food - Edit
Venue was beautiful and staff were lovely. However, food was on the average but on the expensive side. Definitely a place to go if you want to dress up and have a scenic dinner but I would recommend going somewhere else for more authentic vegan Vietnamese cuisine.

Not quite as good as hoped - Edit
We loved the spiritual chic ambience of this place and the menu had us really excited for what was to come. Perhaps we didn't order as well as we could have, but the food wasn't up to expectations. Taste profiles weren't special at all, and we came away feeling heavy and tired. A shame because it had so much potential.

3.5*
Read moreshamballa's food and beverage prices are on par with other restaurants in district 1, but i think some dishes are a little more expensive than they're worth. the portions are relatively small for their price, but the flavor mostly makes up for that. i enjoyed the "crispy abalone mushrooms," "steamed lotus leaf noodles," and "four flavors of cake." the "lotus seed and water chestnut chè" was not too great tho. i liked that a lot of vegetarian dishes can be made vegan upon request
the restaurant is decorated beautifully and the servers are polite !! also, tax and service fee are automatically added to the bill

Pros: tasty and unique dishes, kind staff, can request to make some dishes vegan
Cons: pricey, small portions

Good food - calm place!! - Edit
It was very quiet when i visited this restaurant. Decor and environment were calming. Food was okay. I loved this dish which I tried 2 days in a row to memorise the flavour - ‘ crispy abalone mushroom’. I will visit the place again whenever I visit Vietnam 👌

Don't eat hotpot here - Edit
After we loved their branch in Hoi An we definitely wanted to come here to eat more of their delicious dishes. In Hoi An the staff were so welcoming and kind, while the food was just amazing. In this branch we had a slightly different experience. This time we wanted to try their hotpot which you can order in size small or big. I asked the waitress for the difference and if the small one is enough for 2 people but we had some communication issues because of the language barrier so I couldn't get an answer. On the menu it says the small one is recommended for 2 people so we decided to go for this one. The ingredients for the hotpot were definitely enough but unfortunately, you only get a tiny pot to put them in. That means that the broth wasn't enough. We had to ask for a refill 2 times but they said we can only get one. Eventually we didn't have enough broth and had to eat some of the ingredients dry. Also they don't provide a stove, more a huge candle which extinguished after a while what means the broth wasn't hot enough to boil your ingredients towards the end. The broth was really delicious and the mushrooms and vegetables were so fresh and tasty. It was a big selection of mushrooms that we loved. Also, we had the fresh spring rolls, which were a great appetizer. If they would work on their friendliness, communication and being miserly this could be an amazing restaurant.

Staff behaviour needs some work - Edit
Our experience was surprisingly not so good as other ratings suggest. We encountered unfriendly staff and got rude answers. We asked them what are the contents of dishes and they told you order to see contents. Add to that we saw cockroaches on floor too. So we didn't eat there at all.

Pretty restaurant with good vibes - Edit
Unfortunately I can not give 5 stars because I wasn't as impressed as I hoped to be. The interior is really stylish and calming. There was a server who spoke English which is also a bonus. My favorite dish was woven noodles w grilled nem. This is defenetly a one dish that I will remember from my Vietnam trip. Other dishes that I tried were average.

The smashed rice paper and mushroom salad was delicious! The ambience is wonderful and calming, we chose to sit in the outdoor seating area but inside was equally lovely. As it is a new establishment, some of the staff are still training which meant the waitress got a little confused at times.

Mediocre - Edit
Expensive, and on top of that they charge extra 15% for service and VAT - mentioning that only in really really small letters at the bottom of the page.
Read moreThe place and the food itself looks pretty, but tastes mediocre. The only really nice dish was a special appetizer, but the two main dishes of fried vermicelli and banana curry were underwhelming.
Didn't justify the hype
