Vegan menu, decent prices - Edit
This is a friendly Indian restaurant in Weymouth. The restaurant has a small vegan menu, but could adapt the vegetable dupiaza to be vegan even though it wasn’t on the menu. I enjoyed my food, however my omni partner said his was a little bland. I would go back, don’t think my partner would.

Curried favour - Edit
Very friendly staff and nice ambience.
Read moreSeparate vegan menu available (ask for it on the way in to save searching through the wrong menu).
Other dishes may be able to be veganised if you enquire. We love tarka dahl, enquired whether they could do a vegan version and bingo!
Pros: Separate vegan menu, May be able to adapt dishes if you ask

Separate Vegan menu available - Edit
Plenty of choice for vegans, as long as you don't mind lots of other around you eating meat (sizzlingly obvious at times).
Read moreThe staff are professional and relatively quick (given it was rammed during our visit).
(No more parentheses, I promise)

Tasty but spicy - Edit
Food was very tasty, but was much spicier than expected. We ordered two medium dishes, but we would recommend getting at least one mild dish to calm the spiciness!

Really tasty food for vegans and veggies! - Edit
They have a separate vegan menu, though you have to ask for it. Some new dishes to try, jackfruit featuring a few times. The full menu has no key for vegan dishes, only V for vegetarian.
The “vegan samosa” and “vegetarian bhaji” were really good. The poppadoms and dips were great too, with 4 different vegan dips - only the mint sauce wasn’t dairy free (as expected).
As mains, we chose the “vegan masala” which was sweet and creamy. More like a korma, but still delicious. The “paneer piaza”was tasty, though spicier than the menu suggested - on the hotter side of medium.
It’s a nicer restaurant - with a bill to match. We wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s “expensive”, but it’s not cheap either. The average price of a main is around £10.
Lastly, definitely book before going. We went on a Saturday evening and it was full. Service was slow on drinks, so had to ask a few times for water before it came, but otherwise, the staff whizzed around at pace and the food was served in great time.
Absolutely recommend.
Pros: A good and different vegan menu, Tasty food
Cons: Service can be slow when it’s busy, Only boiled rice option for vegans

Sadly quite bland - Edit
Service was great; the decor comfortable if a bit surreal.
Read moreIt seemed clear thought that while numerous the vegan options (vegetable versions of popular curries or sides) were definitely a culinary afterthought. At the end of the meal my meat eating companions were quite happy while I felt a bit cheated - everything I ordered (3 sides including 2 of their specialities) was very bland and quite greasy. My starter, channa chat, was the only highlight.
I should say that as a vegan I do eat a lot of curries and so perhaps am more used to spices than their average customer; maybe they have moderated their flavour to the average palette around here. Still …
Pros: Lots of options (veg, but vegan friendly), Good service , Nightclub decor
Cons: Lack of flavour , Not cheap, Quite greasy

Don’t forget the veg - Edit
They have a separate vegan menu with some nice choices. The starter was very nice, but a little on the small side. The sauces on the main curries had very nice flavours and were spicy, but had very little veg in them and again were small portions. For vegetable curries they were very poor, from what we could see people eating from the non vegan menu had larger portions. It’s a shame because the sauces were very good.

great food and variety, considerate staff! - Edit
This restaurant has a clear vegan menu with lots of variety. Each of the dishes we ordered were delicious and the staff were super considerate- complimentary mint yogurt is added by the kitchen staff but the person we ordered with realised we were vegan and removed it for us. I would definitely order from Shalim's Balti House again and would give 5 stars if I could.

Main courses limited to mixed vegetable curries - lacks a bit of variety - Edit
Had a nice vegetable chana chat for starter, but the mains were all mixed vegetable curries. It would have been nice to have more choice. For instance more pulses and flavours of rice/naan.
Read morePros: Separate vegan menu , Serves vegan beer
Cons: Not much choice for mains , Only offer white rice for vegans , No flavoured naans
