Great vegan croissants (I had the apricot jam one), and a great vegan bagel which I took away to eat for lunch on my day trip. Tasty and filling. Also cheap!

Amazing salads and huge portions, most of the options are vegan. The vegan bagel is also delicious. If you’re a fan of tofu have the tofu marinato salad. Great juices as well.

i really enjoyed this place!! i got the vegan wrap and a plain croissant (they had jam and chocolate too) and the wrap was so so tasty and nutritious! the croissant was pretty good but not anything special. they made the wrap so it took around 10 mins but if you don’t have time they also had ready made vegan sandwiches and bagels which looked super good!

Vegan bagel was yummy! - Edit
I tried the vegan bagel, pain au chocolat, soya latte and a juice - all really good! The service could be a bit difficult as if you don't order everything in fast succession they will just go onto the next person, but they're friendly!

Vegan pastries. Enough said. - Edit
After a busy morning in Florence, we stopped for lunch at 'Shake Cafe' in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, which had a number of vegan options and delicious juices. I had a wrap with hummus, green peas, walnuts, lentils and kale, along with the ‘Iron Man’ juice with strawberries, kiwi and apples, both of which were absolutely delicious.
Read moreThe pièce de résistance was the vegan croissant filled with apricot jam. I unintentionally let out a little squeal when I passed the pastry section adorned with a ‘vegan’ sign and swiftly ordered one for lunch-dessert; my first (but certainly not my last) vegan pastry. The croissant was buttery and flaky and even my ever-skeptical husband devoured half of it despite eyeing it suspiciously when I first brought it out.
Pros: Healthy lunch options, Delicious juices and wraps, Vegan pastries!!!

Great Breakfast, Lunch or Snack Option - Edit
Stopped by here for breakfast on my way to the cathedral and was very impressed with their vegan options. They had two pre-made grab-and-go vegan sandwiches, several smoothie/smoothie bowl options, non-dairy milks for coffee, croissants, wraps and more.
Read moreI opted for an almond milk cappuccino and a raspberry croissant. Both were very good. I plan to stop by again for a bigger meal as some of the other options sounded tasty as well.
The people working the counter were very friendly and accommodating to English speakers.
I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a hot drink or meal.
Pros: Many Vegan Options, Quick, Simple & Inexpensive, Good Service

Quick and delicious vegan options - Edit
Shake Cafe is a great place for meeting up with a friend for a bite, having a sit-down and read a magazine or people-watch, or for take-away. A decent selection of juices, smoothies, salads, and wraps. Mostly labeled but staff are friendly should you wish to ask for any confirmation.

Lovely staff, average gelato - Edit
Only tried the gelato: vegan options include pineapple, mango and strawberry. But the ice cream is too sweet and lacks a distinct taste of the fruit.

Good Grab and Go - Edit
Good stop for a quick grab and go before catching the train, or as a lunch while seeing Florence. There are two locations one near the train station and one near the Santa Maria. I grabbed a Vegan Brioche on more than one occasion along with a cappuccino (they have plant based milk). I also tried one of the wraps and one of the sandwiches, neither was bad but they weren't great.

Convenient for tourists on the go... - Edit
Convenient service and location with several vegan options. Perfect for tourists on the go, but this is not a foodie destination. Grab some snacks for your sight seeing day and be thankful they have things clearly marked vegano...

Long wait but good food - Edit
We ordered a juice, and 2 vegan salads which we waited over 30 minutes for then asked where it was and they said they had forgotten to make the salads, although they did then give us a free juice to compensate. The juices were very good and the salads were a nice size. I would recommend going to the other branch of Shake Cafe however as there was much better service. There are lots of vegan options such as salads, wraps and bagels and at the other branch they also made one of the smoothies vegan for me by omitting the yoghurt and using almond milk.

Fantastic breakfast place - Edit
We came to Shake Cafe every morning we were in Florence. We got a vegan breakfast pastry and a cappuccino or latte with soy milk. The vegan stuff was clearly marked, the staff spoke English, and they were quick! We also grabbed sandwiches one day to take on our day trip to Pisa, which were yummy. My only complain is they only had three different pastries, so on day 4 I had to get the same one again. Highly recommend for breakfast if you are in the Santa Maria Novella area.

Exactly my cap of coffee!!! - Edit
Shake Cafe is a small café that offers wonderful terrific, shakes, soups and more. They make great coffee, and you can have it with regular milk, soy or almond (which is the best option!). you can take the food away or sit and enjoy good vibes. Service is wonderful, everything is tasty – to sum this up – recommended for vegetarians, vegans and everyone else. We visited both shake cafes in Firenze and they are equal at their quality.

Stumbled across this cute cafè after visiting Lush cosmetics which is conveniently located just across the street! Had a great soy lattè and delicious vegan bagel! My boyfriend enjoyed his vegan salad and choc/date shake, yum! Got two more juices to go before we left which we're lovely. The staff we're wonderful, so friendly and patient with me not speaking Italian haha

Well located - Edit
Florence is one of the best cities I've travelled to to eat vegan, there is so much choice and such perfect places... Shake Cafe is not one of my favorites. The vegan wrap was nice and quite cheap but the salad arrived on the table with two missing vegetables and we had to ask for them afterwords. Plus the salad was very simple and quite expensive for what it was. But the staff is friendly and the restaurant is very well located, just near the station on a nice little piazza.
