Delicious vegan food

If you like Ethiopian food, this is a great choice for vegans. The dishes are labeled as vegetarian, but just ask, and you can be sure they are vegan.

I am a fan of anything that can be used to eat with injera. The shiro wat is my favorite protein, but I always eat the gomen (Collard greens) first, because I'm such a fan of tasty vegan collard greens! If you're not sure what to get, get the combination.

Warning for those who haven't had it before: don't eat a lot of injera with a little bit of food. Be generous in scooping the food with the injera. Don't get me wrong, I can eat the injera plain, but if this is a novitiate for your Ethiopian dining, be warned you'll fill up so quickly if you eat too much injera. They are very generous here with the injera, so don't just eat injera. The veggies are so good! Try as many as you can - or share a platter with your dining partner(s)!

The kik alicha and string beans and tikil gomen are also delightful! Yum. I need to go there right now!

Pros: Injera , gomen, kik alicha and shiro wat

Cons: serves meat

Tasty and Inexpensive

I went here for lunch after my first day of classes at UMD. I will definitely be returning. Their lunch special was very affordable at a price of 10 dollars. Their vegetarian combo (which is vegan also) included a huge portion of injera with a variety of beautiful and tasty Ethiopian stews. So much flavor, variety, and food for only 10 dollars. This is a good spot for a college student looking to grab something cheap, relatively quick, and satisfying.

Pros: Inexpensive vegan choices, Variety of stews, Amazing flavorful food

Beautiful, delicious food

I had seen this restaurant on Route 1 many times and had always wanted to try it. A few weeks ago I checked online and it said it was closed, but I went there this weekend and not only were they open, they were busy! My friend and I ordered the vegetarian combo for 2 and split it (disclaimer, even though a section of their menu says 'vegetarian' it is, in fact, 100% vegan). This visually stunning platter came with 2 servings of all of the veg-dishes as well as a basket of injera. My friend also tried some of the Ethiopian wine and loved it. I would like to return and try the coffee ceremony as it is very highly acclaimed at this restaurant. While I am not strictly HCLF, I do try to keep my fats low and my carbs high, and this place was surprisingly good at that. Often, restaurant food is drenched in oil, but the food here was just right. For the amount of food we got, this place was very affordable and the staff was extremely friendly. While it was busy, it wasn't completely packed, which made the dining experience quite lovely. I will definitely be returning!

Pros: Large portions for low prices, Food is absolutely beautiful, Variety of vegan options

Cons: You have to ask for water (but it is still free)
