Nice Vegan Spot

1st time here. I had passed by it a few times and it caught my attention on a nice sunny day, seeing so many people enjoying their lunch at this location. I found street parking easily (free). Outdoor and indoor dining available. I started with String Beans Tempura. It comes with a light sweet chili plum sauce. I was hoping it would have had a little kick to it but I didn’t taste anything. The tempura was good - not sure I would get it again (didn’t stand out to me). I want to try the samosa rolls next time. I moved on to the lunch portion of eggplant green curry. That was a flavorful dish that made my mouth water as soon as it was out down I. The table. Portion size was nice considering it was for lunch. I also ordered spicy noodle eggplant to go. That was also very good and I had it cold the next day. Looking forward to coming back

November 2023 Update:
Stopped in for a late lunch. I was the only person in the restaurant. Host sat me down and I asked him to point out their vegan options for me. Server came over and I ordered my food and verified it was vegan. I ordered the tempura string beans and their special eggplant pad Thai. No issues with the string beans. I received the pad Thai and started eating it and then realized it had egg in it. I communicated this with the host, who then proceeded to take my plate and did not return. I waited five minutes and heard people in the kitchen talking. My server came out and I asked what was happening and he shared they were making me a new plate. At this point, I was already upset by the mistake, the time that passed with no communication, and the lack of empathy or an apology. Once the server realized I was upset, he then apologized. I asked for the check and left. The host came out and walked by me without acknowledgement as to anything that was going on or the error committed. Needless to say, it was a disappointing experience and it will be a long time before I return here.

One of my favorite spots

This is one of my favorite places in New Haven. They have a lot of (unlabeled but vegan) options at decent prices. I also love the atmosphere of the outdoor patio. Most items on the vegetarian section of the menu are default vegan and the rest can be made vegan by omitting egg.

The peanut tofu is one of my go-tos, just so delicious. However, when I went last weekend I noticed they made their plating look more upscale than usual, but in the process decreased the portions while keeping the price the same. I had fewer pieces of tofu than all the previous times I’ve gone, and they were also smaller.

Top 3 places for vegan food

This place never misses. The curries are all amazing, make sure u specify vegan or no fish sauce. The green curry, coconut milk noodles, and peanut tofu are my favorite entrees, along with tempura green beans, garlicky green beans, and thai samosas for apps. The shroom and panang curry are also good.

Great food but be careful

Our favorites are the pad see ew, massaman curry, and shroom curry. When we order online they write “vegan” on the bag so we can tell they actually read the notes.😄

Edit 11/2022: I went to order take-out in person and they unfortunately put egg in our order. I ordered some vegan tofu pad see ew and thought they got it because they wrote “no oyster or fish sauce” on the bag, but it had egg in it. We didn’t realize until much later so we don’t know if they’d replace the food.

I live very close here so I’ll tell you what’s up

The people running this spot are just so nice and cool, they will accommodate their vegetarian menu into vegan which is good. I’ve eaten here dozens of times since I’ve moved to New Haven and my top picks in order are:
1. Basil fried rice
2. Coconut noodles
3. Green eggplant curry

Edit November 2022:
Unfortunately it seems like the quality has just plummeted, I’ve ordered a few times since the summer and it’s just not been the same. There’s no flavor to the food. I mean it’s bland bland. The coconut milk noodles with tofu had flavor and now it’s just noodle shaped plain mashed potatoes. Basil fried rice doesn’t have any flavor. And the price has only gone up. It’s hard to knock anyone for that, though, for their popularity and opening of a new venue idk it’s some context.

Delicious and unique

I absolutely love September in Bangkok, and they're my favorite Thai restaurant.

Delicious food, and the most unique Thai restaurant I've ever been to. They use ingredients like blue rice, which I have only ever had when I was in Thailand (the blue comes from butterfly pea tea).

They have an extensive vegetarian menu which can be accommodated for vegans.

Presentation is always beautiful. The restaurant is very clean and staff is friendly.

Pros: Vegan options, Delicious, Friendly staff
