I was on the prowl for some vegan food in Chicago and I saw that Senorita's Cantina offered vegan options and being in the vicinity of the near South Side, I paid a visit to Pilsen.
Read moreThe interior has a lively, dark clubby vibe with a Latin soundtrack dominating the atmosphere (read: loud). There's a long bar that offers seating along with three TV's to keep you entertained (news, sports).
I got a plum seat in the window (I was dining solo at 6 PM on a Saturday evening). Within 1 or 2 minutes I was brought a cup of water and some tortilla chips with a small portion of house made salsa. In order to see the menu you must scan a QR code and then you're presented with several pages of food (courtesy of Canva). There's a whole page devoted to vegan eats.
I ordered a taco pastor and a beef taco; I actually preferred the beef taco but the real standout was the spicy watermelon margarita. Excelente! I am a margarita snob so this was a real treat. Made from scratch, it did not disappoint. I was only planning on drinking one but ended up ordering another
Overall, this place is definitely worth a visit if you wanna have fun with friends. No pics; you'll have to come check it out for your self!
Pros: Dedicated vegan menu., Great margarita., The vibe (decor).
Cons: Music too loud., Hard to have a casual conversation (see #1)., Prices on the high side.

Read moreWe got guac (it was guac. Good ofc), complimentary chips and salsa (the chips could have been saltier for our liking), chorizo tacos (tasty and spicy. Presumably seitan. More “meat” filling than was necessary), and the ground beef tacos (which were in our opinion much better than the chorizo). And the pièce de résistance was the elote corn, but ask for a sharp knife to cut it off the cob. I’m just a girl I can’t eat corn on the cob at a restaurant hellooooo

Really good EXPENSIVE food - Edit
Went here with my omni bf a few weeks ago. We decided to come here since they offered vegan food but didn't list prices on their websites. When we got there, I knew why. I have never in my life seen such expensive Mexican food before. Regular, non vegan tacos were around $5 for one. Vegan ones were around $6/$7. As someone who has frequented Pilsen resturants for years, even before I was vegan, I've never seen prices like this. I had to do a double take when I saw the price for vegan enchiladas...$19!!! We decided to bite the bullet and order since we devoured the chips and salsa. Surprisingly, the food was really good. The sauce was flavorful, the rice nice and moist, the refried beans smoky, and the vegan cheese was closest to Chihuahua cheese I've tasted. I would say it's worth it for a once in awhile thing but it definitely stings paying almost double what I grew up paying.

This place is awesome. They have a Vegan sopes flight - vegan chorizo, vegan ground beef and veggie. Six kinds of vegan tacos on homemade tortillas. And the best is vegan quesadillas and enchiladas! Amazing drinks. A bar.
