Good cooked breakfast - Edit
Had a simple but good vegan breakfast at a reasonable price. Lovely scrambled tofu, I wish there was more! Liked that they used richmond sausages as I much prefer them to quorn. However, they do charge extra for plant based milk which seems odd for a veg/vegan cafe.
Read morePros: Reasonable prices, Classic British cafe feel, Plenty of vegan options
Cons: Charge extra for plant based milk, Not all day breakfast menu, Victim of shrinkflation

Homely, welcoming and always delicious. Now do takeaway options - Edit
I'm a regular at this cafe! It has a good menu of classic food made veggie and vegan to make it familiar/accessible for all to enjoy. The range of cakes and cookies each day are always delicious too. They have started doing lovely veggie and vegan takeaway sandwiches including a vegan New York Deli my partner always sends me in for and a tofu egg mayo and cheese, with pies also available to takeaway. Blessed to have this in Clitheroe!

Affordable, filling and delicious - Edit
Fantastic location by Clitheroe market with outdoor seating. The food is homemade and hearty with delicious breakfast and brunch options which is really reasonably priced (drink included). Coffees are huge! Delicious homemade pies, sandwiches and a selection of cakes. Everything is vegan as standard but can swap to dairy if preferred. An absolute gem.

Vegan afternoon tea highly recommended - Edit
Had a superb vegan afternoon tea here this afternoon, served by a lovely, friendly team. Soup, plenty of assorted sandwiches, crisps, scone with jam, trifle, strawberries and a selection of cakes. It’s the first vegan afternoon tea we’ve had where everything was delicious - nothing felt like a compromise. A word of warning - don’t eat anything during the day before you go, or you won’t manage to finish it all!

Lovely Cafe - Edit
Secret Garden Cafe is a vegetarian cafe, with a lovely walled garden for sitting out in the sunny weather. The menu has vegan options, a specials board and there was a good selection of vegan cupcakes on the counter.
Read moreI called in for breakfast with hubby and we both chose the vegan pancakes served with banana and maple syrup. I took some yogurt and cinnamon with me, although drizzled with maple syrup, the pancakes did not need it.
The pancakes were so light and fluffy, I was quite jealous as mine are always quite dense, so I will be stealing chef's secret of using frothed Oatly barista oat milk to make the batter. The pancakes were absolutely scrumptious, with warm maple syrup, banana and two large decaf Americano coffees, making a perfect to start the weekend.
Called again for lunch and we ordered sandwiches off the Christmas menu, A Bit Of Christmas which was no pigs in blanket, stuffing & sprouts on a toastie with a pot of vegan gravy and Christmas in New York pastrami & cheese sandwich. They were scrumptious, good sized portions full of flavour and I will be trying to make these at home.
Called again for lunch after a dentist appointment and ordered a mushroom and potato pie with mushy peas and red cabbage and tomato and basil soup. All the food is homemade by chef Louis who makes a mean pie with such light and crisp pastry and his soup was fabulous too. Good sized portions and perfect for a cold Wednesday lunchtime. The staff are really friendly too.
Highly recommended.

We went on a beautiful sunny day and sat outside. You order at the counter inside where there is also seating. We ordered the potato and mushroom pie with mushy peas and cabbage and the New York deli sandwich. The portions were more than generous.

Superb food and not expensive - Edit
Called in when we visited Clitheroe again as when we came across the place last time it was just closing and the menu looked good.
Read moreHad a large vegan and light vegan breakfast together with a cup of tea and decaff coffee, both drinks included in the breakfast. Everything was absolutely superb and after my large breakfast I felt set up for the day. The decaff Americano was also fantastic, decaff coffee can be a bit of a lottery but the coffee was first class.
If you are in Clitheroe and looking for vegan or vegetarian food look no further. We will certainly be back and I recommend you try it.
Pros: Lots of vegan options , Really nice friendly staff, Good portions at realistic prices
Cons: None really

Simple, fresh and tasty - Edit
Went in really hungry and found the goody fresh, filling and tasty. Simple meals such as sandwiches, jacket potatoes, nachos, got dogs and salad bowls, mainly vegan, some vegetarian. In a mixed party of vegan, vegetarian and omnivore, there was something to satisfy everyone. Decent service. Decor basic but clean, and plenty of outdoor seating in a tucked-away part of the town centre.

Two visits in 4 days a! - Edit
We stayed in Clitheroe August 2021 and visited here twice in 4 days. First we had the vegan breakfast which was phenomenal then we had lunch. I had the special which was baked potato skins with sheeze and facon. Hubby had the falafel sandwich. We had a portion of potato salad to share and then I had to try the lemon drizzle cake (you’ve gotta get your vegan desserts while you can right??). Suffice to say it was all really tasty and I didn’t need to eat until very late on in the day! Defo need to visit if you’re out this way. We will be back!

Convenient setting - Edit
The food and service could be better, second time of going and things could be improved. The food just needs a little extra attention. Ie, toasting the right bun for a burger. Better coleslaw, attention to detail. The first time I went they gave 2 friends only half portion of quiche without saying anything and afterwards gave them and us a biscuit to compensate!!!

Lovely cafe with fab vegan options - Edit
Great menu with loads of vegan options. Really nice cake and coffee. We had strawberry and choc, and coffee and walnut cake. ‘Ham’ and ‘cheese’ paninis were good. Nice staff. Good prices. Nice seating area, particularly outside. Toilet could be updated. Good there’s a shop joining the cafe.

Its wonderful to have a fully vegetarian- mostly vegan- cafe in town!
Read moreThe decor is light and modern, it has plenty of space to sit outside. There is large selection of sandwiches and lots of salads, home made mains and sides. A good selection of cakes with gluten free options. Also has gluten free options for bread. There is a great choice of herbal teas and plant milks for your coffee.
The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is family-like.
As a doctor specialising in lifestyle medicine I can say that this is also ethically a great place. It will help so many people who have chronic diseases. They can come here and enjoy and the cafe does the health job for them! The cafe is new and is finding its feet so there will be teething issues, changes and improvements but it's a great start!
Pros: Mainly vegan. Gluten free options. Free water. , Outdoor seating
Cons: I didn't see a toilet but did ask staff about it
