This restaurant used to be really good. But...
The menu had lots of "v"s, but most appeared to contain cheese. I asked very politely what was vegan and was told the holoumi burger was. When I said, "but it's cheese", they replied, "yes, but it's goats cheese." They then went on to explain how their houloumi was in fact vegan.
Ermmmm. We then went through things like the jacket potato, cheese and beans had a v and was vegan??? And I was told, but I cook the food so I'd make it without cheese to be vegan. I tried not to argue, but just gave up really. I asked for a moving mountain burger. It was actually vegan, but just a cheap roll, a slightly burnt burger, lettuce, onion and cucumber and nothing else, no relish, dry, was really uninspiring. I asked for tomato sauce. It used to be quite posh here. The flowers on the tables nolonger there and everything well laid out had gone. The restaurant area was closed and in darkness and tables were now set out in the waiting area.
I don't want to leave a poor review, I always try to give a chance and see good, but these guys clearly had no idea what a vegan was and didn't really care about the quality any more. Sorry...
We ordered a couple of the moving mountains burgers, The burger was just in a bun with a couple of lettuce leaves and a thinly sliced tomato and that was it, there wasn’t any ketchup or anything just a dried up burger in a bun, Very poor effort at providing a vegan option
I was very surprised to find out that this traditional fish and chip shop offers the moving mountain burger. Absolutely delicious and I would definitely return to this restaurant.
