Literally zero vegan options

Went here because it was my only option and they have NOTHING. They also didn’t have any plant milks even though it said they served soy and oat milk at no extra cost. Ended up just buying an overpriced capri sun as breakfast.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: NO VEGAN OPTIONS

needle in haystack

Have you ever tried to find a vegan restaurant on an airport? In most cases, finding a needle in a haystack is easier. Except on Frankfurt airport!

Okay, strictly speaking Scoom is not a vegan restaurant, but in fact more than half the items on the menu are vegan or can be prepared for vegans. All is clearly labeled.

And strictly speaking Scoom is more like a snack bar or a lunch room, because there’s no menu and no waiters. One picks a ready made meal from a cooler, or orders something at the counter. Items on display are labeled in German and English, the staff addresses customers in German but switches to English easily. Scoom has a cosy sitting arrangement to enjoy the food bought.

While all the vegan snacks looked tempting, I felt hungry and tried the falafel wrap. It’s huge, tasty and not nearly as fatty or heavy on the stomach as the package leads one to expect. At 5 euro it’s even a decent price, especially compared to other airport food.

I had a remarkably good and healthy meal at Scoom, it felt like finding a needle in a haystack.

If you need directions to this “needle”: go to the train station at Frankfurt airport. Scoom is directly above the tracks of the high speed trains; close to the entrance of the Hilton Hotel (one floor down)

Pros: great location , fair prices , decent food

Quick option at the airport

This is one of the few places at the airport (actually, there are two branches, one next to the regional train station and one in Terminal 1 just before the security gate) where you can get clearly marked vegan food. Everything is already prepared and stored in disposable plastic containers and you get plastic cutlery etc.

Their food tastes okay, but nothing really great. Their chickpea salad is a bit dry, the soba salad tastes too sour but the vegan chocolate mousse is quite nice. Just buy food here if you are desperate at the airport!

Vegan snacks at Frankfurt Airport

This is a bakery/take-away where you can get vegan snacks, located in the airport, Terminal 1, on a lower level where you proceed to the regional trains. The vegan items are clearly marked, they have things like a falafel-wrap, soba/tofu-salad, chickpea-salad, bulgur-salad…
Unfortunately the quality differs. The only item I always fully enjoyed is the bulgur salad. When having to fly I always grab at least one portion to enjoy during the flight, so I’m not dependent on the meals they serve on the plane…

Pros: Don't have to worry about food when travelling
