A lovely cafe with a unique atmosphere located in a peaceful courtyard near the main market square. The china and decorations are based on 1940s and 1950s vintage design. You can sit outside, upstairs or downstairs. Offers several vegan dishes, including a lentil soup that is reported to always be available, as is a gluten free soup. Vegan sandwiches include hummus, spinach and pine nut, cucumber with vegan cream cheese and chives, and vegan cheese with tomato/piccalilli/ pickle, as well as a soup and sandwich deal. Vegan salads include falafel salad with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, beetroot, celery, apple and hummus. Vegan cakes (such as a lemon and blueberry sponge cake) and soy milk will be a happy ending to your meal. Reported fully vegetarian July 2020. Not dog friendly. Open Wed-Sun 09:00-16:00.

Disappointed - Edit
I was very excited to visit this place, especially after reading through previous reviews. Unfortunately I found myself a little disappointed in the end for a few different reasons.
Read moreWhen I first went to pour myself a cup of tea from the teapot, the handle broke off, meaning the full tea pot dropped from my hand and onto the table, smashing the plate underneath. I am very thankful the pot itself didn't smash, as I would have ended up covered in boiling hot tea.
On the topic of tea, we had a huge pot with only a single teabag in it. Took a long time to brew properly and was still quite weak even then.
Food was very delicious, I was a huge fan of the avocado sandwiches and coffee and walnut cake. However, I also felt slightly ripped off by the amount it cost. Another bug bear was that we had booked for 3 of us, but the cakes weren't split into 3s.
Taking my experience into account, I think a middling review is the best I can give, however I wouldn't discourage anyone from going to try it for themselves. The staff were also very lovely to us, and the atmosphere was great.
Pros: Nice staff , Very cool theme
Cons: Expensive , Teapot broke

Friendly and passionate team with amazing vegan cakes! - Edit
Most of the cakes are vegan and include delights such as cherry bakewells and date slices. Always very good. The soup and sandwich options are amazing and the decor and atmosphere are lovely. Probably the best vegan options in Knaresborough. And they do a vegan high tea if you order in advance.

Cute, beautifully decorated 1940s tea room - Edit
We stumbled on this adorable little tea rooms by accident, and were delighted to find they had four or five different vegan cake options as well as several alternative milks. There were other vegan sandwiches too, but we only wanted tea and a cake. The whole place is decorated with period artefacts down to the last detail, and there are loads of interesting local photos, mostly from the Second World War, to look at. One of the people working there is vegan herself and we had a lovely conversation with her. She was even so friendly as to give us an extra free truffle!

November 2022: went back and was really impressed again! Great cake, sandwiches and drinks.

Cute little cafe - Edit
We visit here based on recommendation and weren’t disappointed. They have a good section of sandwiches and cakes for vegans.
Read moreThe staff were all lovely and provided service with a smile 😊
The location is within a little courtyard with some other little independent shops which was lovely.
It was a very popular location and seemed very busy at one point which is great.
The food was fresh and tasty and simple but nothing ground breaking, but I didn’t expect it to be. It was sandwiches ether cold or toasted with tea and cake. The only let down was their scones weren’t vegan.
We will come back and try the vegan high tea next time as that looked tempting.
Definitely worth a visit when visiting the beautiful town of Knaresborough!!
Pros: Lovely location, Lots of vegan options , Lovely staff
Cons: Can get busy so sometimes a little wait for food, No all vegan

We had two teacakes and two slices of cake, all of which was excellent. Good range of vegan cakes, 7 in total and not just flapjack.

Retro vibes - Edit
Really lovely find on a very busy bank holiday. Sat upstairs which had a 60s/70s retro feel. Half the menu was vegan so loads of choice. I had a smoked tofu sandwich on granary. Came with crisps and salad. Hubbie had a grilled aubergine toastie. Friendly service and speedy given it was busy.

A wonderful surprise to come across in Knaresborough, they've got a ton of vegan options across their menu ranging from vegan sausage toasties to vegan ice creams. I’ve come here a few times with friends and this place is lovely- I would definitely recommend it! You can either sit inside or out and the service is always friendly, even when they’re very busy, and the food comes out quickly and is freshly prepared. I’ve had the smoked tofu toastie, the ‘ham’ toastie and some of the vegan cakes- there’s always a good selection to choose from.

Vegan Vintage Heaven - Edit
This is the sweetest cafe I’ve ever been in . 1940s Vintage feel with 3 rooms. One with toys for kids a fantastic secondhand bookshop in the other and one room that allows dogs. It’s run by a vegan and has a very large vegan/veggie options. The cakes were amazing and I couldn’t believe how much vegan choice there was. Definitely worth a visit.

Hidden delight - Edit
Love this place so much, can’t recommend it enough! Had a great experience from start to finish, the staff were lovely and service was great. The decor was intriguing, so much to see and the vintage theme carried really well throughout the whole place stretching as far as the staff uniforms! I ordered a smoked tofu salad which was lovely, a chai tea and a lemon blueberry cake. I was so impressed that there were about 7 vegan desserts to choose from! I took a chocolate flapjack home. All the food was delicious! There were games on each table including playing cards, dominoes, yes/no and lexicon. There were also travel guides including the local and surrounding area. It all came to a very reasonable £27ish. Take note, they don’t accept card but there’s a cash machine nearby.
