Deze review is postuum want de zaak is sinds dit voorjaar gesloten.
Read moreHier kwamen we heel graag, een reden om naar Oostende te rijden.
Ze serveerden reeds vegan pizza's in tijden waar die bijna nergens op de kaart stonden.
Hun vegan samenstelling van vegan kazen was uniek, net als het gezellige interieur.
Steeds mogen genieten van een vriendelijke bediening, ook een hond was er welkom.
Een restaurant waar de vegan gerechten vooraan op de kaart stonden, met een groot assortiment aan vegan gerechten.
Ook al woonden we niet in de buurt, we kwamen er regelmatig en reden er met plezier een voor om als we op pad waren.

Wat een leuk en gezellig restaurantje! Super cozy. Het straalt echt sfeer uit en je ziet dat de eigenaren hart voor de zaak hebben.

De wachttijden waren nét te doen. Maar doordat het zo gezellig is, is even wachten geen ramp.

In an area where vegan lifestyle is practically non-existent, the restaurant is definately not casual. Was and still is one of the pioneers of restaurants that are vegan friendly. Extremely vegan friendly.

Sassy's has so many vegan and vegetarian options that it's actually easy to forget that it's not entirely veggie! We ordered the vegan lasagna and a vegan pizza and both were absolutely delicious and a good size. Whilst we waited for food, the waiter brought over a small portion of crisps for us to munch on. The place itself is adorable and well-decorated with many funny salt & pepper shakers and artworks placed around. It has a cosy, homely vibe whilst still giving a diner feel. The desserts looked truly delicious but we decided we wouldn't fit it in, so that's for next time.

Great to see so much choice for vegans! Overall, I enjoyed my meal here but I wasn’t super impressed. The pizza base is very nice but they put way too much on their pizza for my taste, making the pizzas too heavy and missing some finesse (of mediocre quality). The vegan pizza calzone was okay, but nothing special. It would have been much nicer if they used fresh ingredients (for instance, the spinach clearly tasted like canned spinach).

I ate the pizza sombrero which was very good. There are also a lot of other vegan pizzas and pastas on the menu that seem delicious. Staff is really friendly. Will definitely go back when I’m in Ostend.

Have visited Sassy's about a dozen times over the years, also when it was still in the city center (it is in Stene now, which is about 5km out of the center). Nearly always for lunch.

Great variety of vegan options, clearly labelled on menu.
We liked the pizza, we never really liked the pastas, which we found tasteless and monotone. There are also vegan cupcakes and muffins, but everytime we tried some, they seemed to be a couple of days old or dry.
Service had its ups and downs on our visits. On several occasions we had a very long wait for lunch (up to an hour), although there were hardly any other patrons in the restaurant.
Sometimes there's very nice music, but on several occasions there was a very loud radio coming from the kitchen with sports matches being covered, which was very annoying.
Sometimes friendly, but sometimes also a bit gruff and seemingly annoyed.
The interior is a colourful mix of vintage chairs, tables and decorations, but also some quite uncomfy chairs.

Very cozy restaurant with loads of dog pics, great music and great vegan options. The vegan Calzone was delicious, the Spaghetti with lots of vegetables was great.

Good vegan pizza and pasta - Edit
The place has a wide veriety of vegan pizza and pasta and usually a dish of the month that is also vegan, same for the pastries. Both the pizza and pasta are quite a large portion so you definitaly won't leave feeling hungry. It's a very colourful and cozy place with a lot of vintage-y and retro interior items. The staff is also really friendly and the prices are reasonable. It's a great place to go if you have non-vegan friends or family because there's something for everyone + there's a take-out option.
