Actually called Sasa-no-ha; not vegetarian or vegan unless you make a reservation - Edit

Sasa no Ha is a small restaurant close to Kita-Kamakura station that specializes in โmodern shojin ryoriโ (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine). Please be warned though, that because fish broth and eggs are apparently used in many of the dishes, you have to make a reservation at least 48 hours in advance if youโd like veggie food.
We tried the veganized 2000-yen Matsu course. A huge tray of food came outโ a croquette, tempura, miso soup, tofu, pickles, fresh fruit, and more. Everything was prepared with care and all the dishes but one were delicious. (The exception to this was one dish made with tororo and cucumber that was, quite frankly, gross.)
The food was delicious and filling, and the service was great, but I have to take points off for the atmosphere. The dining room has a distinct โGrandmaโs houseโ kind of feel to it, and not in a good way. Thereโs little privacy, and until more customers came, it was so quiet that it made conversation kind of awkward. Still, we took three non-vegan friends here, and they genuinely loved the food. Iโd recommend it for people that want to try shojin ryori but donโt want to pay quite as much.
Pros: Delicious, filling food at a fair price, Great service, Great place to take visitors, even nonvegans
Cons: Veg food requires a reservation, Maybe a little too quiet

Love this place but getting veg food is a drama - Edit
We used to come here occasionally but recently don't bother because they have become less and less accommodating of vegetarians. You have to call a day ahead to make a special order and they knock you back if they expect the next day to be busy. You can't book a table either and they get really busy on weekends and public holidays so getting in can be tough. If you do manage to book a meal and snag a table, it makes for a nice lunch - especially convenient for catching up with omnivores, who generally enjoy the food and ambience too. And of course the location is great if you're doing some temple hopping or hiking.

Amazing vegan food. - Edit
The set meals at this restaurant will set you back ยฅ2500 per person, but itโs worth every penny.
