The Salt almost killed me - Edit
I bought Gobi masala which was good and ordered the fried bindhi. They brought Gobi masala which was not what I ordered and when they brought the fried bindhi it was so salty I almost couldn’t eat it. They didn’t seem very friendly so didn’t say anything as I thought the salt was deliberate.

Standard SVB, nothing special - Edit
Having visited other SVBs around the world, their food is fairly equal throughout. It was as usual and food came out quick. But it was pretty standard, nothing special. Also ordered a mint lime drink but was heavy on the cumin, something we didn't realise would be in the drink as it wasn't mentioned on the menu.

Good for vegetarians - Edit
Quick and guaranteed decent Indian food considering it’s a chain. Good for dosa. Service wasn’t amazing but that could be due to only a few members of staff understanding English.

Horrible - Edit
After waiting for ages to even have someone come to our table to take our orders, the waiter was very unfriendly and rude from the getgo. We tried to confirm with him whether he knew what veganism is which he assured us he did. So we told him we want the whole order vegan and to please inform us whether any of the dishes we ordered were not possible. Again, he confirmed everything would be 100% vegan, "no problem, no worry".
Read moreWhen the dishes came out, you could smell the cheese and Ghee before the food even reached our table. The naan was dripping in Ghee and the mixed mushroom dish had visible huge blocks of paneer in it.
I tried to talk to the waiter to change the food, no avail.
Ended up only eating the plain white rice. If we hadn't been on the road the whole day prior to coming to KL and basically starving when we arrived, I definitely would have left for another restaurant.
Since the plain basmati rice was eaten, even though none of the other food was touched, they insisted we had to pay the full price.
Also, the drinks were overpriced and tasted bad.
Overall just a horrible experience and I don't recommend anyone to visit. Maybe we just had bad luck with our waiter, but none of the other stuff seemed to care either.
I want to recommend a different 100% vegetarian Indian restaurant instead. It's basically next doors and I ended up going there countless times over my 2 month stay in KL.
Mr Naan & Mrs Idly, the food is great, they have an awesome lunch buffet deal and the whole team is very friendly. Go there instead!
Pros: absolutely no pros
Cons: Unfriendly, unhelpful and rude staff, overpriced, don't know or don't care about veganism

Meh - Edit
So it’s very conveniently located, well lit, seemingly clean. They have a massive menu with tons of vegan options. However, poor food presentation detracts from the experience. Service not great- the waiter seemingly turned off the credit card machine to force me to pay cash. When it became obvious I didn’t have cash, the credit card machine magically returned to life. 😅

A Refreshing Dining Experience - Edit
Saravana Bhavan in Brickfields continues to be a reliable choice for dining. Originally, I had intended to visit another restaurant, but even though it was open, they could only offer a plain dosa. After some consideration, I decided to change my plans and visit Saravana Bhavan instead. Having been to another branch of this restaurant in the past, I was confident that I would have a satisfying dining experience.
Read moreAs anticipated, the food at Saravana Bhavan was truly exceptional and was prepared promptly. Their menu is thoughtfully organized for easy understanding. As a vegan, I made sure to inform the staff of my dietary preferences when ordering my all-time favorite dish, the mushroom masala dosa. I emphasized the importance of ensuring that the dish was prepared without any animal products such as ghee or butter.
One notable aspect of Saravana Bhavan is its pleasant ambiance. Unlike many other air-conditioned restaurants that tend to feel warm and uncomfortable, Saravana Bhavan's air-conditioning was effective, ensuring a comfortable dining environment. Moreover, the restaurant did not have the unpleasant odor that often plagues air-conditioned establishments.
I'm delighted to report that Saravana Bhavan not only met but exceeded my expectations once again. The food was delicious, and I appreciate their attention to my dietary requirements. It's a restaurant that consistently delivers a high-quality dining experience, and I will certainly be returning in the future.
Pros: Plenty of vegan options, Comfortable ambiance, Consistent quality
Cons: Staff less friendly

Nice Cuisine - Edit
The staff introduced his favorite dishes for us, my travel companions and I were very satisfied with the meal, although I don't know much about what I ate, but it is delicious! I especially like the triangular Dosa, with potato mash inside, it's slightly spicy, but still good! The curry is not spicy, eat with the rice and Roti please! Even the green mint-flavored drink is recommended by the staff. He said it is his favorite. It tastes good!

No service - Edit
Very upset/mad/unhappy owner. Came in the morning to grab some food and he said they don't do takeout and that everything over the counter had ghee. Not welcoming compared to the people of Malaysia

below expectation - Edit
The food quality is just so-so. I've visited their outlets at Singapore and Dubai and it was amazing. This outlet in KL is disappointing. Over priced, poor customer service and the food is below my expectation.

Yummy, but the after-taste... - Edit
The food here is fantastic, there is great service. BUT I stopped eating here after the owner was convicted of murdering a man in order to marry his girlfriend as his third wife. Not worth the bad taste this left in my mouth.
