Bad food and service

Almost everything had ghee or dairy. Staff didn’t speak English, bad service. Food average

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Staff didn’t speak English , Hardly any vegan options

Great dosas

No-frills south Indian restaurant off a busy street in Dubai's old centre. Great dosas - I had the ghee roast both times I went and did not regret it - excellent sambal. The sweets downstairs were authentic and the whole meal was one of the cheapest in Dubai. Recommended

Pros: Lots of options

Cons: Some dishes are not available on different days

Good South Indian

We initially struggled to locate the restaurant as Happy Cow's map wasn't pinged correctly, but since it's a chain restaurant, we looked up their website which lists all their locations. This location is at No.4&5, Al Khalifa Bin Saeed Building and Google Maps got us right there. The place is no frills, but has lots of good South Indian choices at good prices. We got the Gobi 65, masala dosa, onion tomato uttapam and mushroom biriyani. All very good.

Pros: vegan options, good price

Cons: not all vegan

Well worth it - a must eat in Dubai!

We struggled to find the restaurant initally, as we didn't have an address, just the print out from happycow's website. But, it was well worth the find. We went for lunch and were ushered upstairs (where a set menu takes place at lunch). Super cheap - 15 dirhams (£3) per person for huge plate of assorted food. The waiters even went around doing free refills of food on your plate as you ate it!! Until you told them to stop because you wouldn't be able to stand up afterward! Delicious, authentic indian food.

We stayed at the Bonnington Towers Hotel (luxury heaven!), which as we found out was a 30min taxi ride to this restaurant. Worth the trek to the restaurant and would do it again, as there are NO veggie restaurants in the "touristy" part of dubai (near Jumeira Beach Residences + beach walk).

The Metro station near this restaurant hasn't opened yet, but when it does, it should be cheaper to get to. The restaurant is in the less affluent, less shiny/glitzy part of Dubai, but the real food + excellent quality (instead of crappy non-veggie touristy food elsewhere), makes it totally worth it.

Pros: Delicious, Excellent value, Huge Serving Sizes

Cons: Bit of a trek from the hotels in the, "touristy" areas

Hi there!

If you're ever coming back to Dubai & the Bonnington, there are now a couple of awesome veggie options in walking distance of the hotel. I have added them to Happy Cow, so you should be able to find them easily.
