Vegan hotel and restaurant - Edit
Fully vegan hotel and restaurant. We visited for lunch. In the evenings they do a tasting menu but lunch is more ‘fancy vegan pub type meals’. The main course options were vegan fish and chips, burger, oyster mushroom wrap, and soup and a sandwich. Starters available too. We had the mushroom

Wonderful vegan hotel experience - Edit
A Hotel from A-Z vegan and dedicated to a cruelty free lifestyle was just amazing to experience.
Read moreWe stayed for one night incl dinner and breakfast
Dinner was a 5 course menue of bread, a parsnip tower, grilled couchettes and quinoa and a chocolate covered pear. All ended with a vegan cheese platter. Menue changes due to seasonal availability of ingredients.
Al drinks are vegan.
Rooms have complimentary tea and coffee station with - of course - oat milk and water😄
Hotel is located in a beautifully old castle like building close to a forest. Very idyllic and worth every penny

Amazing food and service - Edit
We stayed her for two nights in August 23, and were treated to some of the best food we’ve eaten in the last 7 years. The young chef, Patrick, produces fine dining with some inspirational twists - ginger cake with truffle ice cream being an illustration of this! The welcome is warm, friendly and relaxed. The whole experience was such a treat. We can’t wait to go back again!

THE vegan hotel - Edit
What a great place to stay. Room was nice and food was unbelievable. The staff couldn't have been better. Very relaxing. It's so good to stay somewhere and not have to keep asking if food is vegan. Great choice of drinks. Every evening there was a different 5 courses. You think you can cook but turns out I've not got a clue:)

Honeymoon Stay - Edit
We stayed here for our honeymoon last October and the food was absolutely incredible. We had dinner on two nights and we were amazed by the chefs creations. Each course was just a sensory journey and we loved hearing about each dish presented by the staff. We also tried the cheese board one evening and that was also amazing, we couldn’t believe how realistic they were - even the ‘blue cheese’ had the mold in it!

Best vegan hotel and fine dining experience I've ever had - Edit
The 5 course tasting menu, which we had over the space of 3 days, was phenomenal. There wasn't a single dish that didn't absolutely astound me, even the ones I was initially unsure about upon reading them (e.g. I THOUGHT I hated wasabi, beets etc. but the dishes that included these blew me away). The chef even took the time to answer some questions and share a bit about her journey. This was a recurring theme, the staff were passionate and so incredibly accommodating.
Read moreThe breakfast was the perfect start to the day too, with a choice of breads and spreads, freshly made smoothies and granola pots, fresh fruit and also chili beans/the best tofu scramble I've ever had. I also highly recommend at least getting some of the cocktails, but do book onto a cocktail masterclass if you can - Lucy fine tuned the experience to our preferences and was such an entertaining host.
Do not hesitate to visit Saorsa.
Shout out to Lucy, Sandra, Leo, Fadi for their exceptional customer service during our stay.

Such a joy! - Edit
We completely fell in love with the staff, the gorgeous house, the beautiful garden, the interiors, and, of course, the food 🥰! Vegan cuisine on such a high level is hard to come by, and then add in Scotland breathtaking beauty❣️you can’t beat the combination! There’s 11 rooms, each differently decorated, each lovely! Saorsa is also super dog friendly which adds the plus of getting to pet all the furry friends traveling with their vegan humans 😍. They’re environmentally friendly down to the toilet paper, they’re super casual (so some will dress up for dinner, some will come in hiking gear, it’s all good). I could go on, but you get the picture! I am sorry to be limited to 5 stars!

The best dining experience on our trip - Edit
We were looking into other options during our two day stay here but the menu was so varied we ultimately ended up eating almost every meal here. The banana blossom “crab” was delish, and I don’t usually like aubergine, but the slow cooked version we had for dinner was perfect - didn’t have that too chewy, tough texture and was well complemented by the bean purée and tamarind sauce. A perfect dining and hospitality experience.

Great experience! - Edit
This hotel is in a great location, ideal as a base for hiking in Pitlochry. The room was comfortable and had a super pretty view to the woods, where you can see red squirrels and lots of birds.
Read moreBreakfast is excellent, you can have hot beverages, yogurt, milk, granola, muesli, fruits, hot food, toast and more. The scrambled tofu is amazing, so is the chocolate spread (ideal with peanut butter).
The bar is pretty relaxed and they offer all sorts of drinks and beer from a local brewery.
On Sundays they do a 3 course meal lunch which is super nice. Entry, main and dessert were delicious.
The staff are great, friendly and welcoming. The hotel is not too big, so even when it's fully booked it'll probably feel relaxed, which is great.
It's great to stay in a place where you don't need to worry about the ingredients in anything. I had high expectations, and I wasn't disappointed. Will definitely book a stay again!

Fancy and vegan - Edit
The hotel is beautiful and in a gorgeous setting. While I love the influx of vegan food in the UK over the last few years this is definitely something different to whats usually offered, they do a 5 course tasting menu which is beautifully cooked with in season produce. The breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from, I particularly enjoyed the vegan yoghurt, berries followed by scrambled tofu and toast. Staff were all very lovely and friendly, especially the lady from Glasgow who served us at breakfast.

Saorsa - Edit
Saorsa provides hotel accommodation as well as a prebookable tasting menu for non residents on some nights of the week. I was lucky enough to be able to stay overnight and first impressions on arriving to the hotel were high. The building is beautiful, set in pretty grounds and I felt immediately relaxed and at ease. The downstairs area provides a large and sunny breakfast room, cosy formal dinner space and a bright, spacious lounge with bar area. All were comfortable and inviting. Check in was smooth and friendly.
Read moreI arrived to my room on the first floor and was a little disappointed. The rooms do not match the standard of downstairs and lacked facilities and that extra touch you would expect at this price point. The views over the gardens however were lovely. The room is the only reason I’ve deducted a star.
I was treated to a delicious tasting menu in the evening. Incredible food and cooked and prepared to a very high standard using quality ingredients. Breakfast in the morning was also very tasty, although the homemade beans on toast were very heavy. You do need to preorder breakfast the night before which may be a negative for some.
I would definitely return for the food and experience but it is fairly expensive to stay and for me the bedrooms were not value for money with the current facilities on offer.

Treat - Edit
We booked three nights here for a big birthday but ended up staying four nights. The hotel is a nice old house. The rooms are comfortable. I saw negative reviews about bathrooms etc but ours was good. I wonder if it has been renovated (red deer). Breakfast was good. Slightly different each day- scrambled tofu was the best and available on several of our mornings. We had one three course meal (beetroot starter, aubergine main, apple/ginger cake pudding). We had one five course tasting menu (beetroot/blue cheese, aubergine, potatoes/watercress/tarragon, roast cabbage, truffle macaroon/ice cream). We tried a cocktail on a different evening which was very good. There were a few quirks - no TV, lots of dogs, no lunch service due to staff sickness. There is a nice bar area to relax and there is outdoor seating. There is a general

A must stay and eat - Edit
We were very excited to be staying at a vegan hotel. Food was so tasty we didn't leave - 5 course meal one night, 3 course meal another, lunch, as well as coffee and breakfast. Really interesting and flavoursome dishes. Obviously quite expensive but we think definitely worth it for the experience.
Read moreCouple of small things for Saorsa - there weren't any hand towels for the bathroom, and we weren't given a key to our bedroom until we asked the second day. Our friends had raved about 'the best vegan croissants we've ever had' for breakie so we were disappointed there weren't any. They had also raved about a communal dining experience, with chefs telling us about the dishes, where were both absent during our stay. Also very embarrassing, but sat on the loo one morning with the bathroom door open and one of the cleaners came into our room without knocking! Gave me (and her) a real fright.

Amazing food - Edit
Dinner review - I had the 5 course tasting menu which was so good. Who knew courgette soup could taste so good. It was served over a 2 hour period which was exactly the right amount of time to appreciate what was being served.
Read moreBreakfast - This was the star of the show for us! Amazing selection which included not so traditional choices (smoked beans and a spiced potato/mushroom thing). I don't know what magic was done to the porridge but I've never had a bowl of porridge as good as that one. You must stay in the hotel to get breakfast which nearly feels a pity!
Hotel - I stayed in the red squirrel room. Beautifully decorated and really nice bathroom. My only issue is that soundproofing is really poor. It's an old building so things make noise which a modern hotel blocks out. My main issue was the plumbing. The noise when the neighbouring room used a tap was quite something - it's not an issue to reasonably complain about (ie, you can't yell at someone for brushing their teeth....) but I think it's an issue to be aware of. Of course, once everyone is in bed, it was silent. Also note, the rooms have no TV. Something I ended up being glad of because if the neighbouring room used theirs, I would have heard every word!
I'm not sure I'd stay again unless I think of the amazing breakfast which made the stay worth it!
Overall, a lovely hotel with the most friendly staff. Being able to eat everything was also a mega plus
Pros: Breakfast!, Really good food, Friendly staff
Cons: Noisy plumbing

A sad excuse for a 'vegan' hotel and would give zero stars but not allowed. - Edit
No idea what this 3 star hotel is like. Long story short my husband booked 2 nights in the Puffin room for my birthday in November. Showed me the print out of the confirmed booking as a surprise. I was overjoyed as had wanted to stay here for ages and I adore puffins. As a vegan it couldn't be more perfect.
Read moreThe hotel though decided that I was not to have my wonderful birthday present. They changed the booking to 2 different rooms for our stay. So Friday (my birthday) in one room, not Puffin, and Saturday in a smaller room. How bad is that? I was so disappointed and sad for my lovely husband who had arranged a perfect gift. Eventually got money back but they are very slow.
If you think they deserve your booking good luck. You might get a nasty surprise.
I love to support vegan businesses but not this one. There is a longer review on Tripadvisor.
Have sent copies of the emails sent to my husband to confirm 2 nights booked into the Puffin Room for 12th and 13th November to Sandra. She has not responded. Clearly doesn't like being caught out. No apologies.
Pros: Nothing good
Cons: Everything dreadful
