Vegan heaven - Edit
We stayed at the hotel for two nights - the highlight of our trip from Australia. It was fantastic to not have to worry about down pillows or leather furniture in the hotel. It’s a beautiful place and the decor is quirky and stylish. We had breakfast and dinner both days and highly recommend. It is expensive, it is a tasting-type of menu (breakfast is more buffet plus a couple of hot choices). But the food is exquisite. Modern, inventive, perfectly seasoned. The bar is a delight to sit in and enjoy a cocktail in front of the fire.

Perfection - Edit
Stayed at the hotel for one night (regretting not having at least another)! The place is incredibly stylish, with a cute cosy bar to one side and the restaurant to the other. The rooms are located up the elegant staircase; in the landing, there’s a small fridge with mini bottles of oat milk for in-room tea & coffee. Dinner was stunning - we had the a la carte tapas menu as the tasting menu wasn’t served on the day we stayed. But it was no problem, as literally every dish we had was amazing. They encourage sharing, with the smaller plates coming together as a stater, followed by larger plates. My favourites were the fried kimchi and the barley risotto - the wild herb pesto was divine. We got two desserts - the tiramisu and the matcha puff pastry. Both were utterly fabulous. We shared a bottle of orange wine from Nottingham, of all places! Breakfast was equally great, with juices, smoothies, cereals, oatly yoghurt with toppings, toast etc and you can order hot plates from the kitchen - I had some beans on toast; the beans were a mixture of different types and it had a nice chili kick. Overall it was an utterly fabulous stay and we’re planning on a longer visit next time!

Absolutely lovely. - Edit
Did not book a table as we were unsure what time we would arrive into Pitlochry. They were able to accept us at 1pm when they opened as there was no one else there. I do not believe this to be the case very often as I had looked to book other days and times were limited. I think I just got lucky.
Read moreThe service was really great. The gentleman that looked after us was extremely friendly and helpful. We chatted with him about our travels so far and he was able to provide some helpful advice. Many thanks to him.
The food itself was all incredible. We ordered all the small plates minus the watermelon dish and ordered the pasta and mushroom dishes from the large plate menu. We also ordered the tiramisu. Absolutely delicious.
I don't believe I could afford to come too often but it was a lovely meal and for something special, I would love to visit again. We did not stay in the rooms but hopefully one day. We did walk around the grounds and it was beautiful. With the leaves changing, it was magical.
There were also two dogs on site and they were lovely. 10/10 would recommend.

A very elegant and cozy place with friendly staff. Fusion restaurant, new interesting culinary experiences. The first and probably the only vegan hotel in the UK.

Vegan hotel and restaurant 💚 - Edit
This is amazing place - first UK 100% plant based hotel and restaurant. Very cosy rooms and decorations in whole hotel. The food was pretty fushion but tasty. They also use vegan and cruelty free cosmetics. In the morning there is a breakfast - toasts, cereals, yoghurt, fruits - everything vegan. Very friendly and helpful staff 💚 we had really nice stay there!

Fabulous - Edit
We stayed at Saorsa 1865 for two nights and were delighted by the food. The menu doesn't give much away so we weren't sure what to expect. The food that arrived was all absolutely delicious and really imaginative, there was nothing boring or bog standard. The breakfast was lovely, really wholesome and generous. The staff were super friendly and it's clear this is a real passion for those working there. We would recommend Saorsa to anyone plant based, vegan, or interested in high quality food.

We stayed for 2 days in a deluxe room. This was very nice and spacious.
Read moreWe had the small/large plates menu one night, food was absolutely delicious, in particular the lions mane large plate!
Breakfast was great with a help yourself spread including granola, yoghurt, fruit, nuts, seeds, fruit juices, smoothies, turmeric/ginger shots and also hot food of porridge and changeable cooked breakfast (homemade beans/mushrooms/scrambled tofu/veg hash).
Great location a few mins walk from town, beautiful Victorian villa house, with interesting quirks.

Great food! - Edit
We where there for dinner and had a few different dishes. Everything tasted delicious but don't go there when you are really hungry 😅 It's rather expensive and the dishes are small but for 1 evening it's ok. But what's really not nice is that it's very cold and not comfy. I sat there with my jacket and was cold anyway. That's a pity because the interieur is beautiful.

Too posh to have biscuits in the room - Edit
Really disappointed by this venue and the food. Dishes were missing listed elements. Many were unpleasantly tepid leaving me unsure if they were incorrectly heated or meant to be that way.
Read moreMy cauliflower mousse was a cold puree. My deconstructed brownie was a brownie mashed with a fork.
There was the odd really good dish. The celeriac was great, the lions mane cooked brilliantly. The tasting menu which I had on the second night was overall reasonable.
The room is beautiful with uncomfortable seats.
The manager was unpleasant when I raised being overcharged over £80. After 15 minutes of trying to check out it still wasn't resolved. She later emailed to say I hadn't been overcharged, I had paid the correct amount. Well I had eventually, but only because I had asked for the invoice and a price breakdown to be emailed to me. Suddenly then the overcharging disappeared from the bill.
I don't share other people's views that this is an amazing place. I won't be going back.
Pros: Nice decor, Some food was lovely, Some staff skillful
Cons: Overcharged over £80 , Manager unhelpful, Old dregs of milk for drinks

Lovely hotel, beautiful food - Edit
We stayed for 2 nights and also ate lunch and dinner in the restaurant.
Read moreBreakfast: hot food options were porridge, scrambled tofu and beans and there was a selection of cold items in the buffet. All very healthy and I particularly enjoyed the the berries and nuts to top my porridge.
Lunch: selection of small plates, beautifully presented. My favourite was the mushroom 'scallops'
Cheeseboard: cheeses from I am Nut OK and Honestly Tasty so nothing really new or local, but still nice.
Dinner: the 5 course tasting menu was excellent. Each course was well thought out and looked beautiful. The poached pear salad with granola was the most surprising combo but was very good.
Overall, worth the trip!

I don't want to leave! We spent two nights here and it was ideal. The room was so cozy and incredibly quiet. Then to be able to wake up to a tasty vegan breakfast and then to walk around quaint Pitlochry...jusy wonderful! The dinners were delicious too! The inn is near the train station and was access to Edinburgh. Enjoy some homemade yogurt for me!

Perfect place for a getaway - Edit
Booked a stay here for part of our honeymoon after following this place from a far. During our two night stay we tried plenty of cocktails, sharing plates, and the 5 course dinner. On the last morning we enjoyed the breakfast spread - so yum! Staff is friendly, products are lovely, and you’re a short walk away from the village or a hike to the Black Spout. Next time we’re trying the cheeseboard and the cocktail class! 🙌🏻

Stylish ‘special occasion’ stay - Edit
We stayed overnight in the ‘Superior’ Otter room and had the 5 course dinner, breakfast and then 3 course Christmas lunch. The bedroom and bathroom were comfortable and stylish and we enjoyed the extra space to relax by the fire in the communal lounge/bar. We weren’t ‘wowed’ by the food but it was tasty, attractively presented and plentiful. We saw red squirrels in the lovely communal grounds. Purchased the wine and cheese board but it was too much at the end of the evening meal - would have preferred it in our room on arrival. It’s a very, very expensive stay but on balance I think it’s worth it for a special occasion experience.

Nice hotel, but please check your bill! - Edit
We enjoyed the fancy hotel, nice staff and of course the great food and cocktails. Our room was nice, although it was a bit small and there were no bathroom shelves to put our stuff on. The room was equipped with a water boiler, glasses, loose tea and ground coffee. In the corridor, there was a fridge they stock with plant milk and water. The ground floor had several facilities, like a restaurant and a bar/lounge area.
Read moreHowever, we were a bit surprised that there was no check-up in the room during our 2-nights stay. Also, our bill contained errors: they didn’t check properly whether it was correct (e.g. by letting us sign it off). On top of that, they never mentioned they charge a 15% tip by default on anything you order. They also made a mistake when correcting the bill, since the tip was calculated over a too high amount.
We also visited Sgarbh lodge in Isle of Skye, which was a completely different but also amazing experience. We recommend visiting them as well when in Scotland!

So so Saorsa disappointing! - Edit
Was really looking forward to staying here for my birthday over 3 nights. Welcoming enough but felt the atmosphere a little cold, a bit like the room temperatures in our bedroom & bathroom and some mornings at breakfast. Room felt like it was in another hotel, very basic, 7 hangers in a tiny wardrobe for two people would be ok if there was somewhere else to unpack for 3 days but there wasn’t. Bathroom hand soap was nearly empty on arrival & one toilet roll would be ok if they were checked each day but they clearly were not as our one tiny bin was never emptied. Also nowhere to put any toiletries or hang items in bathroom. Tiny breakfast portions in small glass jars, sometimes labelled but most were not. Fruit some days then not the next. Judging by other guests faces we were not the only ones thinking the same! We are not big eaters but even this was clearly not enough for most people. Poor choice which also never changed along with noisy annoying music all the time! Yes it’s great it’s all Vegan but we have eaten much better Vegan food at places that are only offering Vegan options and at a fraction of the cost and with more choice and bigger portions. This is not a review that I like to leave an all Vegan place but it clearly is not worth the money. One lunch we had there was ok! So it wasn’t all bad but sadly enough to not return.
Read morePros: It’s all Vegan, Great location
Cons: Tiny breakfast with few options, Very Expensive for what you get , Basic bedroom and bathroom

Thank you for your review.
Read moreThe room you stayed in has a full-sized wardrobe, 2 bedside tables with drawers, and a suitcase fold-out table for unpacking. We would have happily provided more hangers if you had asked a friendly staff member. We ask guests to leave a sign on their door handle if they require rooms to be cleaned and restocked - otherwise, we will respect their privacy and not enter the room.
We apologise that you felt cold, but we like to think we are all friendly enough to approach regarding any problems or issues which are very easily resolved. It would have just been a case of turning the thermostat up.
We are glad that you liked the lunch you had during your stay, although it is a shame that you did not try dinner which is a completely different experience altogether.
Our breakfast is a help-yourself buffet with a daily choice of 2 hot options and endless artisan tea and coffee. You were able to help yourself to as much as you wanted, and we are sorry this wasn't made clear.
