Elegant Vegan Dining - Edit
Sanctuary Bistro has a rotating menu that is all vegan and all gluten free. Dinner dishes usually contain mushrooms and the brunch seems to have more variety. Expect an elegant, multi-course meal in an intimate setting.

Stopped here on our way to Savannah, GA and so glad we did. The Roasted Beet Salad was one of the best salads I’ve ever had. My husband had the Po Boy Dilla (sandwich in a fried tortilla shell) and it was delish. Thank you Sanctuary Bistro for an incredible lunch!

Visited Charlotte a couple weeks ago and went to this same restaurant for the majority of the weekend. (Would've gone more, but they're closed on Sunday.)
Read moreBy far, my favorite was the brunch menu. The dillas and waffles are beyond words! I also liked the oyster mushroom artisan plate and the broccoli soufflé.
Appreciate that everything is gf, so I didn't have to think about substituting at all.
Jennifer was lovely and amazed to see us again and again. The atmosphere is cozy and minimal.

Upscale but not pretentious! - Edit
Sanctuary bistro is an absolute gem - and a must visit if you’re in Charlotte. The restaurant is in an unassuming shopping center, but once you get inside, the atmosphere is so inviting and comforting. We had a reservation, which I highly recommend having. We were seated immediately, and our server was kind and attentive. The food was absolutely incredible, very creative and flavorful. I feel the prices are comparable to other vegan restaurants in the area, and the food is 100% worth the price.

Amazing vegan food! - Edit
This is currently my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. Beautifully decorated, great service and creative absolutely delicious vegan food. I had the tofu filled with spinach and was delicious. Reminded me of comfort country food. My husband had the BVQ mignon and was pleasantly surprised. This is a great place for a date.

Probably the best vegan meal I’ve ever had - Edit
This was hands down the most flavorful vegan food I’ve ever had. I usually eat really fast, but with this meal I ate so incredibly slow I shocked myself. It was so flavorful that you had to take it just one bite at a time and savor it. Utterly amazing.

What a nice surprise! - Edit
We had the charcuterie board, the fried beet ravioli, the lions mane polenta, the BVT minon, and the creme brulee for dessert.
Read moreI was absolutely blown away, I haven't had a culinary experience like it. Specifically, the BVT, the Ravioli, and the brulee were novel flavor and texture experiences that I've never enjoyed in my entire life up to this point.
This is a real gem. Good luck getting reservations. I imagine it's only going to get harder over time.
Pros: Incredible culinary expertise, Prices are appropriate for what you get., Lots of neat new things to experience
Cons: Difficult to get a reservation, plan ahead!

After going vegan last year, I thought I would never get to enjoy eating at nice restaurants again. That is until I went to sanctuary bistro with my mom.

The food is beyond words. Between the two of us we got the cheese plate, the fried turmeric ravioli, the roasted beet salad and the tofu Marsala. Each dish was more delicious than the last and I really recommend everything we tried - especially the beet salad the dressing was so creamy and delicious.

Top Of The Line Culinary Cuisine - Edit
So, we celebrated my birthday here, last night. This is a place you've just got to go, period. Berry and Jennifer Horton are the kindest people, not just because you are patrons, they just are. You can feel their passion for the food they serve, and the mission they are on to improve life for all living beings. Chef turned out beautiful, creative and highly flavorful dishes that we LOVED. His culinary expertise is apparent. Jennifer was warm and wonderful, making us feel welcome, and wanting our experience to be perfect. My husband streamed a Playlist he made for me as we dined. Jennifer talked with us throughout (we engaged her, she is very respectful of privacy you may want), and Barry talked with us at the conclusion. We need to support these folks. The cuisine they prepare, and the experience they provide is more than worth the cost. We felt completely safe by COVID standards, BTW. They are very careful.

Some of the best vegan food there is - Edit
I was staying in Charlotte for work this week, and when I travel, my favorite thing to do is check out the record stores and vegan restaurants. Sanctuary Bistro was the highlight of my trip. While I sadly had to get it to go thanks to COVID, I enjoyed an incredible, gourmet vegan meal in my car, consisting of a delicious blackened portobello mushroom with grilled carrots, a potato side dish and two aioli type sauces that were bursting with flavor. For dessert, I went with the mock almond joy parfait, which was outstanding. It is so great that a place like this exists as a contrast to all the vegan “junk food” kind of places out there. Those are wonderful too, but far outnumber nice restaurants like this. I am so excited for my next visit and can’t recommend it highly enough.

Always ABOVE Expectations - Edit
This is the most amazing restaurant I’ve been to ever! We had the pleasure of finding Sanctuary Bistro when it was located in California. As my husband was a contractor 3 weeks per month. I would schedule my trips around our special events and we would celebrate with at least 2 dinners and a brunch at Sanctuary Bistro.
Read moreWe hated to see them leave California but so excited they are opened in Carolina! We actually had a trip booked this summer specifically to visit the area to eat at the restaurant. We home base out of Dallas, TX if that tells you how amazing the food, service and owners of Sanctuary Bistro are.
The highlights of their menus for me are:
Oyster Mushroom Chowder. This amazing creamy soup is pure heaven.
The Shiitake Bacon is a savory explosion of flavor. The used to have a waffle with the bacon and homemade cheese. My very favorite brunch
Soufflés are amazing! Light and fluffy, savory and flavorful.
Beet salad: this ain’t your mama’s beet salad. The sophisticated flavor profile coming out of these simple ingredients is beyond compare
Cheesecake: don’t even get me started on the cheesecake! We never once left the restaurant without a cheesecake slice to go! They continually change up the flavors so it’s always an adventure of flavor sensation.
Don’t forget the bread to go! Grab a loaf but better yet, grab 2! You’re going to eat the first one the same day you get it.
The service is and was always outstanding!
Pros: Gourmet Food, Spectacular Service , Awesome Owners
Cons: They’re only locates in N. Carolina

So Happy You're There! - Edit
This was my family's favorite restaurant when they were in the San Francisco Bay Area. We went there for every special occasion, and would have gone more often had we lived closer. The food never disappoints, and the owners and staff are the most caring people you will ever meet. We were so excited to revisit them when passing through Charlotte. Enjoy healthy, sustainable, compassionate plant-based food that is always delicious and creative!
