Nothing special - Edit
I had one wrap and my gf the English breakfast wrap. The former lacked flavor. The latter was a bit better as it had a sausage and something more to add flavor to it.
Read moreThe food took very long, although there were us and two other people in the café. The music was also extremely loud, and they were not able to turn it down since it was their boss who remotely controlled it.
Finally, we had the banana bread, which wasn't too bad but was quite dry.

Good vegan oatmeal breakfast - Edit
I stayed at a hotel above San Domenico Caffe, and was happy to see that they had vegan oatmeal from breakfast. It was delicious. Their coffee was also quite good, and I loved their cappuccino with oat milk. The place was quiet, and the service was very friendly.

Great for Breakfast - Edit
We visited for breakfast. You can sit beautifully outside next to the market place.
Read moreI had a mango chia pudding, which was really good. Additional a banana bread, which would be better if warm, but it was still tasty.
They offer various milk alternatives, such as oat, almond & cocos, and can prepare any coffee speciality with it. I had a delicious flat white with oat milk.
Pros: Many milk alternatives , Normal prices

Good vegeterian and vegan bistro - Edit
There is some animal food but the variety of vegan is for the city centre good - banana bread was warm and really delicious. 3 plant based milks options. Corner for kids is also good thing there.

Good small Cafe, lots of vegan cakes - Edit
Situated in a small square where there is a local farmer's market in the morning, with outside seating. They also have a children's play area inside. They have an English menu in wich vegan options are clearly specified. I tried the raw falafel salad, that was nice and a fresh homemade ginger lemonade. But in my opinion their force is the vegan and raw cakes choice! Ask to the waiters because they change desserts menu daily. There were at least 6 raw cakes and 4 not raw vegan choices today that was quite impressive for a omnivore place! We tried raw mango cake and raw banana and chocolate cake, a sort of raw cheese-cakes, both absolutely delicious. Prices were a little bit higher than usual in Kosice, but it's worth it!

Great Ambiance and delicious food - Edit
I sat in the sun enjoyed a chai latte made with almond milk. Care was taken to make a presentable drink. A huge vegetarian platter arrived, too much for one person, very tasty, well presented. There is a relaxed ambiance.

I would’ve given it five stars if I could. It was amazing. We had the chocolate pie and the blueberry cheesecake. Both were vegan and raw. I don’t eat raw normally, but I loved these two desserts. I can hardly wait to go back again to try the breakfast/br - Edit

A Veggie & Vegan Gem, Must visit when in Kosice - Edit
It's hard to find a great place to eat in Kosice for Veggie & Vegans, with those elusive ingredients.... "flavour & taste"!!
Read moreSan Domenico Caffe has evolved into the No1 choice for healthy eating in the centre of Kosice. The outdoor tables look over the local farmers market & the cafe is regularly full with locals. Fantastic atmosphere, good music, perfectly executed food & drinks packed with awesome taste. Without a doubt some of the most wonderful staff you'll find in all Slovakia.
Although not exclusively Veggie or Vegan, the best thing for us is that we can come here with any of our friends or family, as San Domenico has something for everybody, even our dog :-) This is a place you'll be glad you visited & more than likely go back fo more. When in Kosice check out San Domenico for breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea. Grab any of their smoothies, juices, coffee, tea, cocktails, wines & beers at any time of day.
Pros: Great atmosphere & popular with locals, Something for everyone, Multi-lingual, friendly & professional staff
Cons: There's not a San Domenico in every place we go

Hidden gem - Edit
Kosice in Eastern Slovakia is a beautiful town full of nice-looking eateries, but any veg*n reading up on Slovak cuisine in advance would have approached the issue of eating there with a good deal of trepidation. Meat and dairy-heavy, traditional Slovak food exists firmly in a universe in which there is no concept of the vegetarian or vegan. Add to that the fact that while it is Slovakia's second-largest city, Kosice lies deep in the rural East, on the other side of the country to its cosmopolitan sister Bratislava, and you can see why the prospects don't look good for the plant-based eater.
Read moreSo thank goodness for the San Domenico Caffe. Strictly speaking the menu would receive that bland label 'veg*n-friendly', but in fact it offers far more to the vegan than that label might imply. The ethos appears to be using bio ingredients (for which read: organic), with an emphasis on health. An extract from the menu:
'We use quality stuff, oftentimes in bio quality... We sweeten with cane sugar, homemade honey from local Slovak beekeepers or with bio agave or maple syrup (not refined white sugar)... In our desserts we use wholemeal, corn or no flour... many of them are suitable for people with coeliac disease, lactose intolerance or a raw food lifestyle... Milk with fruits is hard to digest, so our milkshakes are made of light rice milk.'
Soy, rice and goat's milk are available, as are a range of veg*n sandwich fillings served on such delicious mediums as toasted rye. There is a little meat on the menu, but the menu I received was, importantly, in English (a boon not to be taken lightly in Eastern Slovakia). As the other reviewer has noted, the fresh cakes are perhaps the star of the show - they vary between non-vegan, vegan and gluten-free.
The San Domenico Caffe is so named for its position next to the beautiful San Domenico Church, one of the seemingly hundreds of churches dotted through the city. I sat outside in the plaza on a summery morning in July, munching my rye and chickpea sandwich with my peace disturbed only once - and then only momentarily - by the arrival of my drink, a soy creme brulee cappuccino. Which I recommend as a delicious and quite beautiful innovation in sugar-crusted coffee foam; only, if you are vegan/hungover, both of which characterized your reviewer that morning, beware of the Baileys, and perhaps invest a bit more time than I did in making it clear that you'd like it without.
Pros: vegan selection, soy coffees, beautiful location

Great cakes - Edit
In the middle of the town centre, offering vegan options. Great raw vegan cakes, some sandwiches (chickpea spread, rucola etc.), coffee and chocolate with plant milk. Prices higher than other in town/region, but fair for what you will get.
