Yum! Lots of choices! - Edit
We were so pleased to find the Salt Bay on Happy Cow during an outing to Damariscotta. The Vegetarian menu is ample, and clearly indicates vegan choices and those that can be made vegan. We ordered the grilled romaine salad- which was incredibly delicious, the mixed fries appetizer- which we devoured, the vegan ravioli that come with eggplant fries and a side salad, and the vegan burrito. It was a ton a food so we had leftovers. There are no vegan dressings but there is oil and vinegar for salads, and there were no vegan cheeses for substitution of dairy cheese or sour cream. This was a little surprising for the vegan-friendliness of the place and the menu items offered, such as eggplant parmesan and pasta dishes. Where protein may be lacking on some items I bet nuts can be requested as a topping instead of cheese; there were a ton of nuts on the romaine salad along with tasty grilled vegetables that made the salad a hearty meal in itself. Staff were so friendly and helpful with navigating vegan choices. The inside ambiance was dated and did not match the quality of the food, but that thankfully did not deter us from eating a most delicious and filling meal at the Salt Bay Cafe. We will return!

Wonderful Veg Options! - Edit
This restaurant has something wonderful for everyone--vegan, gluten free, and meat eaters! I found this place through HappyCow, brought my parents here, and we all loved it so much that we went back for dinner the next night as well! The staff is so friendly, the food is delicious, and the separate vegetarian/vegan menu has so many options it was difficult to choose! But I have to recommend the stuffed avocado--it was indescribably scrumptious.

Wonderful vegetarian / vegan menu. Gluten free options also. Waitress was very tuned in to healthy choices. Both of our meals were delicious. Will be back.

Read moreDont let the name full you, They are a full service restaurant. They offer vegan and vegetarian and they try to accomadate allergies. If you have specific dietary needs ask the waitress and they will gladly accomadate any way they can.
