Reasonable service and big portions - Edit
Salsa Kitchen at Meechoke is one of our family go-to places but I ventured into town to visit the Huay Kaew branch for a change. Same good food you expect but slower service and not quite so friendly, due to the greater number of tables, I suppose. Nachos were good and the vegan cheese is quite tasty.

Gigantic mega burritos - Edit
The vegan burrito I got for takeaway could have been my first-born baby. It was enormous, like absolutely HUGE. A bit difficult to eat because of all the sauces that came in little seperate bags, but ultra tasty. I was really proud about finishing 4/5. I was filled up for the rest of the day. Also suuuper tasty with many different ingredients inside. And it came with nachos. Super nice!

Holy guacamole! - Edit
Yum! Highly recommend. Had a lovely, impromptu birthday lunch here this afternoon. We usually avoid restaurants that serve meat but decided to give this place a chance after hearing about its separate vegan menu (which even includes homemade vegan cheese!).
Read moreThe restaurant is located along the main road toward Nimman, but it feels chill and quiet inside (apart from the lively Mexican music, of course!). The bright, thematic décor is certainly more cheerful than the staff, who were perfectly nice but just seemed very tired. I can imagine it would be quite cosy here during the evening.
There are approx. 10 items on the vegan menu. We went for the vegan chicken burrito and vegan carnitas tacos which were both great. Very fresh and flavourful! I’d consider getting those same tacos again next time they were soo good—loaded with plenty of spices, fresh herbs and a generous dollop of guac. Both dishes come with hot sauce, salsa and pico de gallo on the side. We also got a mango and passion fruit smoothie and it was absolutely delicious. I would’ve got another if I hadn’t been so stuffed!
Don’t expect local Thai food prices—most dishes cost around 240 baht—but in my opinion that’s reasonable for what you get. The portions are generous, so if you’re looking for a lighter lunch, you could even get away with splitting a dish between two!
Pros: Separate vegan menu 🌱, Delicious food 🤤, Delightful smoothies 🥭
Cons: Serves animal products 🐷

Extremely popular and busy for good reason. Excellent food. Huge portions. Serves beer, sangria and cocktails. The margaritas are great. Drank a pitcher myself!

Many vegan options - Edit
I tend to stick to fully-vegan restaurants when they’re available, but came here out of necessity one night when it was quiet late, and I’m very glad that I did.
Read moreAn entire page of the menu is vegan, so there are plenty of choices.
I first had the vegan cheese burrito. It was so good that I came back again a couple of days later and had the vegan carnitas.
These were even better. So good that I came back and had them two more times before leaving Chiang Mai.
There are so many vegan restaurants in CM that you don’t need to go anywhere that serves meat. But if you are so inclined to go to one such place, then make it this one. You won’t be disappointed.

Had a new version of chimichanga and a vegan chicken burrito from the specials menu. Rubbery vegan chicken and over thick tortilla on the chimichanga. Added up to a stodgy meal for two people.

I hosted a vegan dinner meetup here recently, and everyone loved it! Everyone's dishes were delicious and flavorful but not too spicy. There was enough of everything to go around and everyone was very full after dinner.

They have a seperate vegan menu with Nachos, chimichanga, burritos, tacos. They have vegan cheese, too! We tried the Nachos and chimichanga. More expensive than other restaurants around but the servings are huge. The mango smoothie and lemonade with soda were also great.

A must-visit in Chiang Mai - Edit
All I can say is that for 200 baht, you get more food than you should reasonably eat. The cauliflower tacos were FANTASTIC. I have had to restrain myself from going back every day since I had them -- seriously, if I weren't so broke, I would have went there every day this past week. I think about those tacos always. You've got to go.

The Chimichangas - Edit
We all know Salsa is a fan favorite, but I get more and more impressed every time I go. There is a full vegan menu that never disappoints. The restaurant reminds me of the mexican restaurants I have back home, in the United States. I got the vegan chimichangas this time and was in love. The portions are huge for only 209b. They have to-go boxes and it makes great left overs! :)

Good for Mexican food - Edit
It's pretty good but not mind-blowing - burritos at Wrap Master are better (or at least used to be). If you crave Mexican food, check it out for sure. Or you can come with your non-vegan friends.

The fact that they have a vegan menu is already satisfactory. I ordered the vegan nachos without any expectation and they were great! Love them and also love the salsas. I totally recommend the nachos Even though the prices are a bit high I do think is worthy.

Food Great Service Indifferent - Edit
Busy Mexican restaurant serving tasty food with generous portions and reasonably priced. We ordered Burritos, Enchiladas and our non vegan friend ordered Spicy Nachos. There was a little wait but not too problematic as we came early (6.30ish). It did get a lot busier and some patrons seemed to be waiting a little longer than we had to. Nevertheless the food was delicious and satisfying. Enjoyed everything except the service which was cooler than our 2 pitchers of frozen margaritas.

As any North American knows, the farther you get from Mexico the bigger the gamble on a Mexican restaurant. Yet I feel compelled to try them wherever I travel. Salsa Kitchen is delicious. Vegan enchiladas and vegan chimichangas were both satisfying and yummy.

American size portions of vegan comfort food. - Edit
American size portions of comfort food. Pleasantly surprised to find a separate vegan menu! Makes it smooch easier. Each portion could be enough for two, unless you’re really hungry (I was), both because of the size and the “filling-factor” — carbs, vegan cheese, beans, fried… Quick service, Burrito the size of your head and hot crispy enchiladas (I think?). Might seem expensive when you look at the prices (not a 60 baht/ dish kind of place, but rather 220) but when you see the portions you won’t regret. You might need a few hours for a food coma afterwards.
