Incredible - Edit
We had a croissant & an almond croissant (INSANELY good) plus an oat latte. Wowza. Highly recommend!

Wish they were in England! - Edit
The pastries were amazing, we had the cruffins, cinnamon twist, pain au choc & almond croissant. They were cooked to perfection, super crispy and really tasty. There is hardly any seating and it’s always so busy so you will have to wait for a long time to sit and eat. Which is such a shame. We had to eat them on a bench in the rain, which wasn’t ideal.

Nice bakery. Mostly To-Go - Edit
They opened a second place on the other side of the street for their savoury stuff. We sat down at the savoury place and picked something up at their sweet place afterwards. They do not have a lot of seats. So expect to either wait or eat outside. The pieces we had were tasty but nothing to special. Also the labeling is a little confusing since some labes says plantbased and others don’t. The savoury place only has (V) markings on some stuff but not on everything.
Read morePros: Not many bakery’s to begin with
Cons: Amsterdam prices, Confusing labeling, Not a lot of space. Crowded

⭐️-Bakery! - Edit
The baked goods from Saint-Jean were so good, we came back on another day of our short trip to Amsterdam. We went a bit over the top and got basically one of every kind. One was better than the other, but nothing could top the pistachio cruffin. Boyfriend says the coffee was also very good.
Read moreWe got a bit confused because there is a Saint-Jean Deli on the other side of the corner, which was not nearly as full as the bakery, but also has a good selection, mainly of savoury goods.

Maybe just not their day...? - Edit
Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed as we expected more due to the positive feedback. First we stood in a long queue, then when it was our turn, almost everything was out at 10.30 in the morning, service was uncoordinated and unfriendly. Unfortunately, even the food couldn't save the impression. Maybe just a bad day.

Had the famous pistachio cruffinns, delicious but not overly sweet as most vegan pistachio pastries. Delicious. Eccellent also the oat cappuccino and the almond croissants.

It was a roller coaster of emotions - Edit
When I read 'top restaurant' and 'bakery', I expect something like Lands and Monkeys, in Paris: huge variety. This was not the case and I was dissapointed.
Read moreI arrived at almost 09am in a tuesday. There was no line but also no seats. I took a regular croissant and a kind of cake to go (see pics), together with an americano coffee. The 3 itens costed 10.5 euros (card only).
I'm giving it 5 stars because the pastries I had were super well executed. The croissant is very 'puffy', 'crispy', like a croissant with regular butter would be. It's way better than the one I had in Lands and Monkeys. The cake looked pretty simple, but it was not haha. Also super delicious.
So, although not a huge range of options, the options they have are more than enough. But as some others had said here, I don't think it's worth waiting 30 min on a line...

This place has a very simple menu of pastries but they execute each one perfectly. Not a bad thing for sale here.

Okay, yeah, unreal - Edit
Crazy delicious, absolutely perfect pastries. We had the pistachio cruffin and the pesto cheese “escargot” swirl. Best pastries I’ve ever had. Coffee was also completely perfect, very well balanced and not too strong. No technical faults. Very good price, feels very worth it.
Read moreOnly gripe is lack of seating but I think the gimmick here is that there is always a line. Consider it takeaway only.

Worth waiting in the rain! - Edit
Walked quite a long way to find the shop and when we found it, there was a substantial queue outside. Totally worth the wait even in the rain because the pastries were INCREDIBLE!! Without doubt the most amazing vegan pastry I’ve ever eaten. The pistachio cruffin was just so delicious. I’m just sad I don’t live in Amsterdam to be able to enjoy these all the time. If I ever come back I will be picking a hotel near to Saint-Jean!

Nice pastries but not exceptional - Edit
We went here on a Saturday morning for a light breakfast, worth beating in mind that Saturday was EXTREMELY busy maybe due to the local market so we did have to queue for around half and hour.
Read moreThere is very limited seating inside (a bench that sits around 6 people) so we took our food to go.
A coffee , hot chocolate and 2 pastries was just over 16 euro. The drinks were very nice as were the pastries but as I said not exceptional. We went for a pistachio cruffin and a cinnamon bun. The cruffin was a bit too crispy like it could have been taken out of the oven maybe a couple of minutes earlier and the cinnamon bun although was tasty it was quite firm and towards the end I was definitely fed up of the chewing! Cinamon buns I have had in the past have been light and fluffy , this has more of a firm bread like consistency. Would I go back again? Yes , would I queue half an hour to get in? No.
Pros: Tasty pastry, Nice drinks, Lovely location
Cons: Limited seating, Pastry could have been better

Pastry heaven! - Edit
Amazing food, friendly staff, delicious coffee with lots of plant milk options. We got the pistachio croissant & chocolate hazelnut croissant with a cappuccino & iced latte. Everything was outstanding & when we went there was no wait, but shortly after, a long queue developed. This place is so good, it’s worth the wait. We also bought a beautiful espresso cup & caraffe they sold & can’t wait to use them at home.
