Tasty South Indian food - Edit
Tasty variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Vegan clearly labelled. Because the majority of the dishes are vegan it's nice to eat something else than the typical vegetable sides that I pick at other Indian restaurants. Really liked the sagar special dosa.

Ok - Edit
The food was ok, but the Saag Aloo cold by the time it arrived at our table and there are no nice nan options, either (only deep fried stuff). Definitely more a place for vegetarians than vegans. Why not have Saag Tofu-Paneer, for example?

Pretty good - Edit
I might have expected a little bit more given that I have heard so many great things about Indian food in London, and this is one of my friend's favorite spots. It did have many vegan options to choose from, and clearly labeled. Flavor was fairly good, but it was more on the bland side. I feel like I have had more flavor in tiny random restaurants in the middle of the great plains in the US. In a pinch looking for vegan international food, it worked fine.

Come here for the Thali!! - Edit
The Thali was really good - I was impressed with the size of it and the portion was generous.
Read moreI wasn’t particularly impressed with the pain puri. The puri hadn’t been freshly fried so they were a little stale, and they had pre-filled the puris with only a little bit of potato. The tamarind sauce was ok. I expected better.

Disappointing - Edit
The menu read well. Having just returned from India I guess I had hopes and expectations of this place. It was my first visit. The masala dosa I ordered arrived after quite a long wait. It was cold. It would have been nice had it been hot. The accompanying green salad was crudely cut and assembled. The onion was almost 0.5cm thick. Based on this experience, I won’t return. It was a Sunday night and not very busy

Nice Options - Edit
The restaurant was empty. Ordered the Saag Aloo and Chana Masala with some lemon rice. (All marked vegan among many other options.) The food came out quickly—I’m obviously not Indian, but to me the flavors were really bright!
Read more… but I’d agree with another reviewer that the dal which came with the rice was a little thin.
Pros: Flavorful

Sagar restaurant leicester square - Edit
I went to sagar restaurant in leicester Square but was very disappointed with dal..it was just water...when I talked to the waiter he was not ready to listen and the manager was also very very rude...while I my wife and my mom were eating the waiter kept the bill..after eating when I was talking to waiter politely about why are you all doing in hurry and not responding properly...he started getting angry and was shouting on me and he walked to me in aggressive way and was screaming get out get out....
Read moreDisgusting staff and food...
The manager by mistake gave me 5 pound extra and I returned it but then also the was very aggressive and rude...
Want a strict action against the manager and the waiter...
My wife and mom got scared ...he almost threatened me by coming towards us and saying get out...
Not accepted at all and will share reviews on all platforms...
Coming towards us and screaming get out in a threatening way is not acceptable...
I would request everyone not to go this place who have such misbehaving manager and waiter

Disappointed with this branch - Edit
We have eaten at other Sagar branches when in London, but this was our first time eating at the Soho restaurant. We were disappointed in the quality of the food. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but the Mysore Masala Dosa was soggy and not spicy at all, and the Gobi Manchurian was greasy.

Cons: Food quality not up to that of other branches, Spiciness did not match that shown on the menu

Great restaurant in the heart of theatre land - Edit
Enjoyed a meal with family who were visiting the UK. The food at Sagar was delicious, the service was good and the staff were very friendly. The next time I visit London, this will be my first choice of a vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Strongly recommend it!

First visit to this branch - Edit
We have visited most of the Sagar branches in London, reviewing both the Hammersmith and Covent Graden ones here on Happy Cow.
Read moreWe did really like the seating areas in this branch with the separate and comfortable compartments.
We were greeted with a very friendly smile and welcome.
My son ordered the Paper Dosa and very much enjoyed it, I ordered the Rasam to start followed by Aloo Gobi, Chapati, with Lemon rice, the only complaint I raised with the manager was that the Aloo Gobi lacked both Potatoes and Cauliflower, more of a pureed spicy baby food.
Otherwise standard Sagar.
On the same day, we had lunch at their Covent Garden branch and their Lunch Special, good value for central London at £9.95.

Wonderful food - great value - Edit
Hi,
Read moreA three course meal with wine for 4 people, in the West End for £123.13? That's the total, including 12.5% tip, not the price per person! Astounding.
Not only that but the food was delicious. We're all vegetarian - there were plenty of vegan options - but to us the only complaint was there was too much choice.
Starters - a selection of different Pani Puri - little (two bite) crisp balls filled with potato, chickpeas, pickle, yoghurt & sev.
Three of the party had Paper Dosa with various fillings, I had the South Indian Thali - a plate meal Big portion of rice surrounded by small bowls with 4 different curries, dhal, raita, gravy and a pudding, complete with two puri and a papadom. Too much - couldn't finish it, despite having donated half my rice to my daughter. But utterly delicious.
Kulfi (condensed milk icecream) and carrot halva for pudding.
All washed down with a very acceptable vegan rose wine.
Nothing we had was too spicy. Good service - attentive but not irritating.
We had booked (my wifes Birthday) but there were tables available for walk ins - Monday early evening with a film premier round the corner in Leicester Square.
We will go back.
