Not good, first time ever eating Indian that I didn't like.

I don't think I've ever written a negative review for something before, but my partner and I agreed that our main meals were pretty gross. I saw a few negative reviews for this place on happy cow, but in general, the reviews were positive. We gave it a go and enjoyed our entrees, which came with a decent spicy ginger sauce. Indian food is one of my favourite cuisines, and I've never disliked it before, even when going for cheaper options. This was definitely an exception. The curries were watery, odd tasting, and had far too much garlic. We never leave without emptying our plates, but we had to this time, as the food was not good. We had an eggplant masala and a mushroom matter, and we would definitely recommend not choosing those. These were odd, flavourless curries with cheap ingredients, not rich and wholesome like good Indian should be. I would recommend going to the Menu Thai restaurant next door instead. It's cheaper and has nicer food... or even better visit Bam Pow, that's where we had the best food in Port Douglas!

Disappointing

Options looked good on paper however they clearly used frozen packet vegetables in their curry and charge $18 for a curry. Also both veg curries we ordered tasted the same as they must use the same base. Overall 1/10

Great simple, delicious food.

Loved this restaurant, Port Douglas seems to be really lacking in veg options, there was lots of great options here & vegan items marked on the menu. Food was delicious, not overly spicy but simple flavourful and very satisfying! Big portion sizes too!

Lovely service

The service and time took to collect take away was great. The flavours were a little disappointing though as it smelt so good. Naan was ok. Needs bit of oomph!

Pros: Lots of options

Good Indian food

We enjoyed this casual dining experience with good quality Indian food. The menu lists “vegetarian” dishes on one page and “Non-vegetarian” on another - an interesting way of wording it! The vegan options are clearly listed also.

For me, there are never enough vegetables in Indian food and the meals tend to taste a bit the same, but the two we chose were tasty and with extra vegetables, naan bread and rice it was a decent meal.

We also ordered a green salad which offered a nice contrast to the heavy Indian flavours.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Fast friendly service , Inexpensive

Cons: Outdoor dining could be unpleasant when very hot, Never enough vegetables!

Delicious Indian food

Divine indian food, and I am fussy when it comes to Indian food. All options we ate were tasty and fresh. The business is ran by a family and it was lovely seeing the whole family helping out. They are open for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend.

Pros: Tasty, Huge variety in vegan options , Your going to leave feeling satisfied!

Cons: Not open 2:30-5:30pm

Great place for vegan options in Port Douglas

We really struggled to find places offering vegan food in Port Douglas so we were excited to find this restaurant that offered to make all curries vegan. They couldn’t quite manage that as some curries included paneer (Indian cheese) but there was still a good range. We are their twice and recommend the eggplant curry and the aloo gobi. The Naan bread without ghee was good to try but was a little dry. They also tried to make their korma vegan but it didn’t quite work as well as I’ve had it on other places.

Pros: Good range of options , Reasonably priced, Helpful staff

Cons: Not all dishes were 100% successful

Delicious Food ! Beautiful Family

I’ve lived in Port Douglas and have been coming to Sabi’s Kitchen since they opened. It is my favourite Indian food. They are always happy to let you know what they can make vegan on the menu! My favourites are the Eggplant Masala (HEAVENLY!!) with the dahl tadka, rice and garlic naan (make sure you remind them for no ghee just incase). This family business is run by Sony and Sabi and they are seriously beautiful kind people! Very reasonable priced as well with great portion size. Cant reccomend enough.

Pros: Lots of Vegan Options, Family business (lovely family), Authentic Indian

Very tasty Indian food in a casual setting

Very small casual place with seating indoors and on the street outdoors.

Asked about vegan food just in case and the server explained how they could veganize most of the vegetarian options for us.

We had the veg Korma and the Aloo Gobi with the sweet rice dish (I've forgotten the name sorry) and poppadoms. The food was excellent and the portion sizes were generous.

The restaurant doesnt serve alcohol. I'm not sure if you can take your own or not. We ordered 2 bottles of Lipton Ice Tea. The bill came to approx 54 Aus$ so make of that what you will.

I would try this place again.

Pros: Very tasty, Large portions, Decent variety for vegans

Cons: Outdoor sitting shared with kebab shop next door.
