Good vegan gumbo in a bread bowl

The vegan gumbo is good and filling, and it’s served in a bread bowl, which is fun! The seating area for this food service spot is not very big so it can be hard to find a table at crowded times.

Updated from previous review on 2023-07-19

Cons: Seating area is kind of small

Excellent vegan gumbo!

Dig the vegan gumbo here, and the fact that there’s hardly ever a wait! Good stuff.

Gumbo in Sourdough

I ordered the Vegetable Gumbo, which comes in a sourdough bread bowl. It was filling and helped warm me up on a chilly night.

Tip: Use Mobile Order to avoid lines.

Pros: quick service

Cons: plastic spoons, limited seating

No vegan gumbo!

They no longer offered the gumbo in December 2017, but the chef was able to make a vegetable plate. Nothing special, but it was nice to not have to walk away from our reservations.

Cons: Nothing vegan on menu

yumm!

Had the vegetarian gumbo and it was great!! Like most of the other comments I wish there was more, but that being said, the sourdough bowl helps fill you up!

get the gumbo

I really like the gumbo and bread bowl. It's got a good spice to it and my only complaint would be that there's not enough gumbo. The portion size is decent but it's just so tasty, I could eat a lot more.

Great Gumbo!

Just got my annual passes back for Disneyland so over the coming months, I'll be adding reviews for all of the veg options available. First stop the vegetarian gumbo. According to Disneyland's website, it is labeled vegetarian but it is actually vegan.

The flavor is great and you can't go wrong with the sourdough bread bowl! Great way to wind down after a long day at the park.

Pros: Great flavor

Cons: Only veg option at this restaurant

I ate it

Here's how my convo went (in Jan 2016):
Me: Does the vegetarian gumbo have butter in it?
Employee: No, it's vegan.

That satisfied me and I ate it. It was good, best meal of my Disney Adventure.

Pros: Delicious!

Cons: Needs more seats

The Gumbo is NOT vegan, only vegetarian

I waited at least 10 minutes in line really looking forward to the vegan gumbo, to find out it is not in fact vegan.

I put my order in and confirmed that there was no dairy in it. The server then informed me that the roux has butter in it :( I ended up getting some yummy mexican food in Adventureland instead.

Pros: Good location

Cons: Not vegan

Great gumbo bowl!

I love the vegetarian (vegan) gumbo bowl from Royal Street Veranda. It's extremely filling and delicious, and it's only $9.99 (which is pretty good for Disneyland). I always eat here at least once when I'm in the park.

Note that there is very limited seating so grab a table if you see one, or plan on sitting somewhere else to eat.

Pros: Filling, Tasty

Cons: Limited seating, Only one option
