Serves meat, vegan options available. Canalside pub on the Brecon & Monmouthsire canal. It's possible to moor right next to the pub garden and then go in and order meals and drinks. There's a vegan curry on the menu, and usually has vegan and vegetarian specials. Open Mon-Sat 12:00-23:00, Sun 12:00-22:30.

A Disappointing Lunch - Edit
I agree with the previous contributor that the Royal Oak is a lovely place to be on a sunny day, next to the canal. My wife and I were pleased to find their sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry was vegan and we both ordered this. However, I think the chef forgot the spices because to say this was bland would be an understatement. The texture was thin and very tomato flavoured - there was indeed a few lumps of sweet potato, a very few chickpeas and a little spinach but little curry flavour. As a soup it would have been good and we would gladly have paid £6.00 for it with some nice bread, but as a curry it was disappointing and certainly overpriced. We overheard a lady on the next table offer the same sentiments about this curry so we know it wasn’t just our opinion.
Read moreUpdate: We went back this year (2021) in the hope the vegan food had improved - it is a beautiful setting - but were told the falafel burger was not vegan as it had milk in it. My wife plumped for the sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry again and it was much improved from our previous visit, however, instead of bread it came with a Nan which was not vegan and the salad was covered in a non vegan dressing. We had clearly made it known we were strict vegans - I had a bowl of chips! Just like being back in the sixties! Disappointing!

Tiny village, great spot for lunch - Edit
There are not many places in Wales nicer than the Royal Oak on a sunny day, especially if you've arrived on the Brec & Mon canal and are gasping for a pint. There is a vegan curry (sweet potato, spinach and chick pea) on the standard menu, but they seem to do specials, too: I had a felafel burger with chips (inevitably) and salad (my partner, who's vegetarian, ate my halloumi). That was pretty good.
Read moreI think the guest ales change regularly, but I had Welsh Pale by the Glamorgan Brewing Company, and it was superb. I'd go back simply for another couple of pints of that.
