From out of town. Over veganaise sandwiches. Use some cream butter on all food that isn’t good even in salads. Friendly staff. Priced a little high. I take Chicago diner anyday.

Amazing Philly Cheezesteak. - Edit
I loved the Philly Cheezesteak. The seitan is perfectly seasoned and the cheez has just the right amount of spice. The bread is amazing! I regret not adding on the mushrooms as I’m sure they would have been amazing too. I also tried the UnTurkey Pesto Sub. Super fresh and delicious!
Read moreI tried this on a roadtrip and I find that vegan restaurants are often not quick service but this particular restaurant was very efficient to pick up from after ordering online which was also a pleasant surprise in addition to the quality of the food.

Still in love - Edit
Winnipeg vegans celebrated the long-awaited opening of Roughage’s restaurant in 2019. Roughage has been killing it ever since. From nachos to BBQ pulled jackfruit to bánh mi and moofaletta, every item I’ve tasted has been crafted with uncommon care and is incredibly tasty. Not your average faux meat, cheese or mayo. Every house-made sauce, cheese and charcuterie offering is perfectly seasoned, sauced and garnished, and the balance of flavours is addictive. Saturday brunch is not to be missed. Wood and plants abound. Their love and respect for the earth, animals and people is evident in every detail.

If you're in Winnipeg for a day, stop here! - Edit
This place is the absolute best in the city. I've never been disappointed. Everything is vegan and everything is delicious but my fave is their take on the French Dip. They also serve brunch every Sunday and the Benny is a must try. I could eat it every day!

So delicious! - Edit
I ordered the mac and cheese which were so flavorfull and filling. I like that they also add broccoli. My friend ordered a soup. The portion looked so small but it was really filling too. The waitress was really nice and brought us leftovers of an oreo milkshake.

I will spend all my money here - Edit
I tried this place for the first time with my mom today and we sat inside, although they do have a cute patio out front. We came really hungry so we could try lots of different things. I was really impressed at how extensive the menu was and how many different food styles/ cuisines they covered. There are burgers, wraps, salads, and pasta on the menu, but I ordered an Asian-style bok choy and mushroom soup that came with garlic toast which was delicious and flavourful and we shared a full size of the nachos. The portions are generous and omg there is a jalapeño-lime crema sauce and cheeze sauce on the nachos that make them the absolute bomb. For dessert we got ice cream, and their shakes are insanely good. For the amount of food we ordered, plus drinks our meal came to a very reasonably priced $50 (my mom had the green goddess salad as her main). They also have take-home food like the cheeze sauce, desserts, and premade vegan microwave dinners. Will definitely be frequenting Roughage as it is the #1 all-vegan restaurant in Winnipeg hands down.

Insanely Good Vegan Comfort Food! - Edit
This is the best place in the city offering vegan comfort food! I unfortunately never got the opportunity to try everything on their menu, but what I have ate from them was mouth watering good. I recommend this place to anyone living in or visiting Winnipeg.

Amazing Vegan Comfort Food! - Edit
Roughage is an amazing all-vegan restaurant in the West Broadway area. Their menu is small but features a selection of creative and unique comfort food meals!
Read moreWith COVID, you can order online from their website or over the phone for pickup or delivery but the restaurant is not open for eating in yet. There are two picnic tables outside in front of the restaurant to eat at though.
I recently picked up their tacos and they have three different types - tofu chorizo, Jackfruit and cauliflower and lentil. I tried the first two. Both tasted INCREDIBLE and authentically Mexican. The tacos also had pickled slaw, cilantro, homemade pico de Gallo salsa and a cashew cream sauce on a locally made corn tortilla. They were amazing. During a previous visit, I have enjoyed their burrito bowl as well. They are also known for the delicious nacho cheese sauce and it is truly the best.
The staff/owners are so kind and welcoming. I love this place! Will be back for more amazing food soon!

My Happy Belly - Edit
Friends and I ventured out in the windy, rainy, stormy weather this Friday evening to try Roughage Eatery. We were impressed with the quality and creativity that went into designing, cooking and serving the dishes. As is the mark of any successful business, demand exceeded supply and some of the coveted goods were unavailable (I know, I know: you snooze, you lose). Thankfully, the menu items that were still on the table were exceptional. We had decided prior to arrival that we would (between the three of us) order a multitude of options so that we could sample from a Roughage Eatery buffet. Our buffet featured the Burrito Bowl (with the addition of the nacho cheeze sauce - a recommendation from our doting server), Nachos, UnTurkey Pesto sub sandwich, Mac & Cheeze, Pizza sub sandwich, and Roasted Beet & Arugula Mix. The vegan, vegetarian and omnivore trio left very satisfied, with plans to return (often).
