Love visiting here - Edit
I love having lots of options, and some market items as well. I had the Thai quinoa bowl and the almond joy cupcake (which my whole family jealously watched me eat). Smoothies are listed with coconut milk but can be made with almond or oat milk

I used to love this place. Now the portion sizes are so minuscule and prices insanely high. I'm not a person who usually notices prices and I'm generally happy to pay a lot for an ethical product but it's gotten out of hand.
Read moreMore importantly, I'm sad to see they're going along with mainstream media narrative that you must be vaccinated to enter without a mask. I could even understand if they said you must have immunity to enter without a mask. For an organic mostly vegan health establishment to value an experimental mRNA injection over natural immunity.. well I'm just not sure how much hope we have left.
They are free to set their own rules now. No governmental body is forcing them to do this. It's places like this that will keep following the slippery slope into tyranny. Soon if you don't present them with digital proof of government injections you won't be able to eat there. Please, Roots prove me wrong. It's time we start thinking for ourselves before it's too late.

Old review from September 12, 2012: It's such a delight to have this place in Valparaiso. Everything is organic. Fresh smoothies and juices made while you wait. Smoothies run anywhere from $4 to $8.
Definitely try the Acai Bowl. It's a creamy, frozen concoction topped with granola and your choice of bananas, goji berries, coconut flakes, cacao powder or a whole list of other choices (vegan except they put a little bit of raw honey on top of the granola). You can personalize the Acai Bowl however you like.
They also serve salads, quinoa bowls, small wraps and baked goods (usually muffins).
There are a few tables and couch and chairs inside. Free wifi. Free street parking out front.

Eating here gives me DELICIOUS HOPE! - Edit
Walking into this place is everything you want in a fresh healthy restaurant. The employees are kind and friendly, the aesthetic of the environment is fresh and lovely. I enjoy watching them make smoothies, I love their gluten-free Muffins. Their meals are ample without being ridiculous and always unique and wonderful. They also sell produce and groceries which I think is pretty cool.Try the green sea smoothie and tell him Heather sent you!

Great vegan options - Edit
Everything on menu is organic and can be made vegan with a small omission, if not vegan already. Had the Thai quinoa bowl, very good.

This place is incredible! - Edit
Stopped here on a road trip from Wisconsin to Michigan. The cafe has great vibes. It has lots of seating, including some outdoor seating. All of the employees were very friendly. I ordered a smoothie and they were happy to put it into my glass jar (which I brought to save on the plastic). I got the nutty brothers smoothie which was amazinggggg. Incredible flavor and so smooth and yummy. I was there with my dad who originally wasn't going to get anything but ended up getting the orangesickle smoothie. He loved it! They juiced the orange they used in the smoothie too.

We left happy and satisfied and will return again on our way back home!
Pros: Friendly employees, Amazing ingredients, Lots of vegan options with ingredients labeled

Excellent Veg Options - Edit
My boyfriend and I were driving from Chicago to Fort Wayne and Roots was a quick stop where we could get a healthy vegan/vegetarian meal. We got the matcha breakfast bowl and spicy bean wrap, which were both fantastic!

Great place to eat! - Edit
We stopped by here to get a quick bite to eat for the first time and we love it! I got the Jungle Gym smoothie with banana, apple, orange, kale, spinach, and rice protein. I also had the Spicy Bean wrap which had black beans, vegan chipotle mayo, avocado, carrot, and mixed greens and was wrapped in a pressed coconut wrap. Everything was delicious and vegan! The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about everything they sell. I would recommend giving this place a try.
