Very Cool Place with Good Food - Edit
I visited Root while in town and I walked in and immediately loved the vibe. The restaurant was very clean, the staff, was very friendly, and the food was pretty good. I really like how they have a set menu but also weekly specials! I got the chicken pot pie from the weekly specials menu and it was very very good other than the asparagus being drenched in oil. The portion size could have been a little bit bigger but overall it was very good and I will definitely be back!

We frequent Root often as they have a rotating menu so we have to keep trying everything. Amazing food and always have new and unique menu items. The staff is always super friendly.

I drive an hour to get to this restaurant and it’s absolutely worth it! The food is imaginative, tasty and full of flavor. The atmosphere is charming and the service is exceptional. My non vegan mom and sister in law love the food so much too. We’ve enjoyed the Italian wrap, fries (perfectly cooked), dill dip, powerhouse salad, sweet potato tempura (probably the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten! The menu is extensive. I can’t wait to try their breakfast!

I have had my eye on this place for a long time, and was so excited when a recent errand to Lancaster resulted in a visit. For some reason, Google's GPS was crap. This place wasn't hard to find at all once we stopped listening to Google, so if you're not local to the area, just get on the appropriate street and look for the building number.
Read moreWe got the Po Boy. It was incredible. The sauce, the fried mushrooms, the contrast of crunchy and the soft bread and the lettuce and tomato... I am starting to yearn for another visit already! The fries were heaven. So creamy on the inside, crunchy on the outside, the perfect texture. I normally don't like my fries to be that "fat" but when they're done like this, don't mind if I do.😉And the red velvet cake. Sometimes vegan baked goods are how shall I say, a bit tough. This was perfect, with a tender crumb and a nice glaze of icing. Just the right amount of sweet; not cloying.
I'm finding excuses to get back to Lancaster.
Pros: food is off the charts good, friendly staff
Cons: parking can be tricky but it is the city

We visited Root in the middle of a COVID pandemic, and the restaurant did an excellent job of keeping us socially distanced and getting our orders just right. We visited Root 2x during our stay so we clearly enjoyed the food and wanted the opportunity to try multiple things. The one thing I would caution is that nothing we tried falls into the healthy side of vegan food and I don't know if they have those options. With that said, you should check them the next time you are in Lancaster. They also had enough food that is similar to omnivore options that you could probably get your omnivore friend to go with you and not be dissapointed.

Absolutely Amazing - Edit
I went to Root for the first time with a friend yesterday and the food was some of the best that I've ever eaten. I love being vegan but sometimes it is a bit of a struggle to provide the robust variety of flavor that I crave. Root satisfied all of this and more! I would honestly give it 6 or 7 stars if I could- the service, ambience, and food were all phenomenal.

This place was an awesome find! Took the whole family, kids and all, and everyone devoured EVERYTHING!! Wish we lived closer, but this is definitely worth the visit and the (for us) hour drive!! The prices surprised us because it was inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food! Service was excellent too! Definitely check them out!!

I have really mixed feelings about Root. First, the food is nothing special at all. I won't go as far as to say it's bad, but nothing that's really amazing about it. Actually, the two times I've been to Root, I was rather disappointed in both of my meals. Secondly, the service has always been awful every time I've eaten here. The staff literally will not check on you the entire meal unless you flag them down or go up to them directly. If you are a vegan, in Lancaster, dying to go out to eat, I guess give it a go. But if you're not overly strict with your diet, I would say you are better off going somewhere with vegan options, rather than here.

I’m new to the area and used this app to look for a place to get dinner. I was wowed by the menu and ordered multiple things so I could have leftovers for a few meals. The “calamari” was very good (the sauce is amazing and I saved the extra for my fries), the tomato sandwich, kale salad and the Brussel Marsala were all delicious. I had to take a taste of everything while it was fresh.
Read moreI’ll be reheating the Brussels in the oven to crisp them up a bit which would be my only feedback although it clearly says how they are cooked on the menu (personal preference for crispy Brussels). I’m thoroughly impressed with the quality (and quantity) of the food. Fries came with the sandwich that were perfectly seasoned too. I will definitely return to try more 🙌🏻

Got take out from here and was amazed by the size you get for the $$. The pizzas are huge and are only $11. Pizza with vegan cheese is usually at least $17 in my experience.

HANDS DOWN This restaurant has the best vegan food I've ever had! Weekday specials are the way to go! My favorite are their BBQ wings on Wing Wednesdays. Reasonably priced and so many creative options. Seasonal menus keeps everything fresh! Super sweet staff and cool layout with TVs to enjoy a game. Can't wait to go back!

It's so refreshing to walk into a restaurant and not have to search through a menu to find something vegan AND delicious!! Everything we tried was excellent!😄 In fact, we even got a pizza to go for the next day!!! We tried their tacos and they were out of this world, the big mac was unforgettable, and the seitan wings were yummy as well. We will definitely be coming back whenever we are (even remotely) in the area!!

Went there a few days ago when we were In town and my whole family loved it! The food was amazing and the wine was great. The wait staff was very friendly. Even my your daughters loved their meal (they got the plain pizza and a side of fries) and they are very picky! I wish we lived closer!
