Opened late-2014 this bistro serves vegan and raw-vegan dishes (from 8pm) inspired by local and international cuisines. Diners eat in the company of six cats who wander around the tables. Cozy atmosphere. Reservations are required for dinner, usually 5+ days in advance. Kitchen is open 10AM-11:30AM (breakfast) / 1PM-2:30PM (lunch) / 4PM-6:30PM (afternoon snack) / 8PM-10:30PM (dinner). Open Tue-Sun 10:00-12:30, 13:00-19:30, 20:00-23:00. Closed Mon.

Great food, cute cats - Edit
Romeow was by far the best cat cafe we have ever been to, both in relation to the food and the care for the cats. The place is tastefully decorated, the cats are relaxed and several groups of locals seemed to genuinely to come just for the food.

This was the first cat cafe I’ve ever visited in my life as I’ve heard a lot of bad things about some in the UK so I’ve avoided them, as I worry they’re not ethical and good for the cats. This one in Rome was the first fully vegan cat cafe I’d ever heard of and they only had 5 cats here which is a big enough number so they aren’t all cramped and distressed! The cats seemed happy enough, most were sleeping and they also had a hide out upstairs to escape the busy cafe. The food was amazing to be honest - quite a fine dining experience. I had the Easter special set menu which was a bit pricey tbf at €60 lunch. But I was happy to pay it to help funds for the cats, and also as I said - the food was very great. If you visit - don’t chase the cats. Wait til they come to you, and never disturb them when they’re sleeping. 🧡

We had the best time visiting one evening in Rome during our stay. The hosts were very friendly and spoke English well (lucky for us!) an the cats were all beautiful. We booked the day before to avoid disappointment as the evenings book up quickly.

We came to late for lunch, so we had a sandwich with avocado, dried tomatoes, rucola and olive paste. For dessert we had a creamy cheesecake with raspberry sauce and a raw cake with peers and chocolate. It was very delicious! The place was super lovely and also the stuff was very friendly. On top there are some cats living there and when you are lucky you can see them walking around or sleeping in their baskets.

Well yes, you will be eating in the company of these feline friends who snooze, roam the place, and sometimes seek cuddles from customers.
The nice thing is that there are rules of good behavior that are handed out as soon as you sit down at the table to behave in the best possible way with the kitties. This is what makes this place beautiful, respectful and welcoming.
But let's not forget about the food! The food at Romeow is really good, with a seasonal menu and some really unique, refined, and flavorful dishes.
I had the opportunity to taste their savory version of Pain Perdu with asparagus and I can say without a doubt that it is one of the best dishes I have ever tasted ever.
If you go to Rome go say hello to the cats at Romeow Cat Bistrot!

We spent just the weekend in Rome and had the most delicious meal here. We got a taxi as it’s about 3/4KM out of the main city but the staff and cats were all really friendly and the food was delicious!

Best Vegan in Rome - Edit
The place is located in the Ostiense district also near to Garbatella. The location is really nice with table and nice pictures on the wall. The place is famous for having cats there and they are really educated so will no bother you. The vegan kitchen is gourmet style and I think is one of the best vegan restaurant I have been. We take 3 pasta dish. I take the spaghetto and was amazing. The dish have also a beautiful decoration. You don't have to miss the dessert if you go there. We take 3 different to share and they were all amazing. . My favourite was the one that remind snickers ice cream. They give also a free entree that was crunchy and remind feta cheese. Super delicious. I definitely raccomend and also always remember to book the table.

Such a cute restaurant with cats that roam around freely. The restaurant serves only vegan food, which is rare in Rome! I loved the cats and the food quality was super great. The staff were very kind and thoughtful for letting us in a little before the opening time, so we didn’t have to wait in the rain. Overall I loved the experience!

The quality of the Food was excellent. After we had dinner there we were so amazed by the place that we came back for breakfast. The Bistrot is very clean and the food delicious. The prices are okay, it’s not really cheap, but defo worth the quality. Plus the cutie lovely cats just make the place adorable. When I’ll get back to Rome one day, I won’t miss out the Bistrot. My favorite place to eat in Rome - Edit
Romeow Cat Bistrot was my favorite place I ate during my 10 day trip in Italy. I thought it might be really touristy, but it was quite the opposite. We were surrounded by Italian customers and our server confidently approached us with a long string of Italian.
Read moreI ordered the spaghettone di gragnano, and it was amazing! This white sauce pasta was paired with a pear compote, and the combination worked marvelously. (The server called this option a classic Roman dish, although I’m not sure that referred to the compote part.) I also ordered the white cheesecake, and it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever eaten! (And tasted great too.) There weren’t a ton of cats around, but it was still a nice atmosphere.
I highly recommend this restaurant! (Get a reservation in advance online.)
