Great choices - Edit
We had the Buffalo cauliflower bites and the fried green beans. Both were great. They do not have a vegan dip. The Sherpa rice with tempeh was great. The Philly portobello with no cheese was excellent.

Great food for hungry vegan AT hiker here! - Edit
The restaurant has many vegan options that all revolve around the restaurant speciality the sherpa rice. I ate it with portobello mushroom and it was awesome! Ordered another side of sherpa rice too!

Labeled vegan option! - Edit
It was really nice to find a burger stated as vegan on the menu. The burger was pretty good. Everything was decent, not amazing but I was glad to have a significant meal option in Bryson City! If I came back I would eat here again only because it seems like the best restaurant option.

I was happily surprised to see a vegan burger! - Edit
After two weeks of hiking the Appalachian Trail and eating only trail food, I was ecstatic to see a vegan burger on the menu when I came through the NOC! The burger itself was mediocre, but you can add veggie toppings like banana peppers to enhance the flavor. Unfortunately, the banana peppers I ordered were not on the burger, and there was a packet of mayo in my to-go box. The fries were good. Their black bean chili is definitely vegetarian, possibly vegan. I tried to ask the hosts about it, but they didn't seem very knowledgeable on the difference between vegetarian and vegan.

Vegan on the river - Edit
This is a fantastic location at Nantahala Outdoor Center. I got to watch kayakers, rafters, and swift-water rescue training. My meal was the vegan burger and I got the hummus appetizer to go. The vegan burger was excellent but served on a white roll. The hummus was tasty. All portions were large. Great service.

Vegan options riverside! - Edit
Like the other reviewer said, it was a relief to have vegan options at NOC. They have a homemade vegan white bean burger that was pretty good, as well as a rice and veggie "sherpa" dish. It was lovely to sit outside next to river, and I was very happy that there was a filling vegan option. Also, their fries and tater tots were great. This is the kind of place where you're paying for the view more than the food, but it was worth it. Also, the staff were really kind.
Read moreSince I was here all day, I was also pleased to find a vegan option (other than salad) on the other side of the river at the Wesser BBQ & Grill, the snack bar-style outdoor restaurant also part of the outdoor center. I had a veggie and hummus wrap, which wasn't special but did the trick.

Riverside Dining - Edit
What a relief it was to find this restaurant. I love the Smoky Mountains and Nantahala River area, but dining options are very limited for vegans and vegetarians. I am a vegan and my husband is a vegetarian, and we were very pleasantly surprised to find several vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. Our server was also very accommodating in making sure our meals were vegan-friendly. The food was very good, and the view of the Nantahala River was beautiful.
