Great Breakfast Burrito - Edit
The deli opens at 7am and we were able to go fairly early and order, with basically no line. The breakfast burrito was pretty big and delicious. Pretty good price for how much food we got.

Messy Tofu Sandwich & killer Breakfast Burrito - Edit
The TOFU YOU was really good, just messy. I was worried when I saw the bread the toasted that they might have toasted it with butter but the manager assured me that all sandwiches are toasted with oil. It needs vegan cheese to hold it all together but over really good
Read moreUpdate 11/7/22: had the chance to try the breakfast burrito today and it was so good. Vegan sausage, vegan cheese, potatoes, salsa and spinach. Really yummy! Unfortunately, it’s not served after 11am on weekdays and 12pm on weekends.

Best tofu sandwich on the planet - Edit
The Tofu You sandwich is my absolute favorite lunch! I travel to Charlotte frequently for work, and always make a point to get the sandwich during each visit (it was the one thing I missed about work travel during the pandemic hiatus). They also have a decent selection of snacks (eg Louisville jerky, baked goods) and a breakfast option. The line is pretty long around noon, but minimal wait off peak

Neighborhood staple - Edit
With a rhino market in almost every part of town, you can rely on these little shops to have plenty of veg and alternative options for your dietary restrictions. The deli is amazing & the shelved items always have me intrigued. I go in for one thing (or maybe nothing specific in mind at all) and leave with 5 . One of my favorite shops in Charlotte!

Hole in the wall deli - Edit
They get quite busy at lunch and it’s a tight squeeze in the little mini mart where the deli is located in the back. They have a vegetarian part of their menu and can veganize all the things I asked about. The vegetable soup was just meh, and quite oily but the bbq tofu sandwich was wonderful! Not to mention they have vegan items in the shop and at the register.

Cons: Soup was a bit of an oil slick, Paying and waiting for food was a bit confusing

BBQ tofu yummm - Edit
Quick service, everything is $6-8. Several vegetarian options, most of which appear vegan. I got the tofu you which was very good. Lots of beer options too on tap and in cans.

It’s fine. - Edit
Lol. I know, such excitement, but that’s exactly how I feel about Rhino. It’s a poor substitute for a Common Market, in my opinion.
Read moreThey do have vegan options. If you order one of the veg sandwiches with cheese and ask them to leave it off, make sure you check your order before you leave. I’ve had it happen a couple of times at the uptown location. And, I don’t know about you, but once I walk back to the office to eat my food, the last thing I want to do is walk back down the street to tell them they got my order wrong. They use oil on sandwich bread to toast it. It will look like butter. I’ve asked them a bunch of different times about this and the answer is always the same: they don’t use butter on their bread. They also have vegenaise.
Other than that, they have chips, one or two grab and go options, sodas, juices, water, and beer.
Pros: Tofu You is the best they have
Cons: Just a lot of average.

Pretty sure I got served animal products - Edit
I asked the person taking the order if the tofu sandwich was vegan, they said they didn't know, but, according to the menu description, it looked fine to me.
Read moreNope. I could tell after a few bites that they used butter to toast the bread and I could swear I tasted cheese on the last bite I took before I threw the other half in the garbage.
If you are vegan, you can find stuff here, but they aren't going out or their way to make sure the food you pay for is free of animal products.
Pros: Can find vegan food if you look around.
Cons: Prepared my "vegan" food with animal products

Solid vegan options. - Edit
Tofu You and Chaud Legumes are great options that are either vegan or can easily be made vegan. Regular vegetable soup is vegan-friendly as well.
