More options and more honest than other Chinese restaurants

This traditional Mom-and-Pop shop can surprise its customers, since it usually loks empty and slightly tacky. Although not the most elaborate Chinese food you'll have in your life, it certainly serves authentic flavors, especially the tofu and mushroom dishes. If you order the shoestring potatoes as a starter, remember that it serves more than two people and comes with a bit of sprinkled sugar, so ask them to not to add it, if you prefer.

I felt safer eating here than in most Chinese restaurants, because the server knew exactly what dishes had eggs in them and which sauces carried fish or meat additives. I believe nothing has any dairy (just as no traditional Chinese food should), except for desserts, perhaps, so that made everything a lot easier too. Order the pepper sauce, if you like spicy food: it adds a punch of flavors and reminds me of Szechuan cuisine.

Pros: Frank server about animal products on dishes, Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes, Fair price, tasty, authentic flavors

Cons: A little too greasy, like most Chinese restaurants
