Beware of fish topping! - Edit
Ordered vegetable tempura and the rice with it was covered in little white fish - my husband said that he did specify vegan when ordering so I guess it must have got lost in translation! So be very careful! It put me off rest of food and made me doubt how vegan everything else was.
Read moreThe curry udon was pretty good. The plain udon seemed too bland because we didn't realise until the end (after asking) that we were supposed to dip the noodles in the accompanying bowl of sauce.
Pros: Tasty curry udon, Food arrived quickly, Nice location in park
Cons: Fish on rice!

Tasty Curry Soup with udon - Edit
Vegetarian options are marked in the menu. I chose the upon curry soup with vegetables. Was quiet tasty. Payed with credit card

..don't bother - Edit
Hour and a half wait for what was essentially just noodles in water. Very bland and overpriced. The vegan options had no toppings, just tasteless vegetable stock. (If you're in the area and in need of vegan food, go for the plant option at Mos burger instead!)

Perfect lunch option! - Edit
They start selling udon at 11 am. We got to the park at 10 am, walked around the palace (free entry) and then this was the perfect lunch. Very easy to order vegan. We got the curry udon and it was delicious on a chilly day! Very nice atmosphere as well.

Amazing vegan curry udon - Edit
The curry udon here is the best I've ever eaten. If you come to Kyoto, you should definitely come here.

Filling udon lunch! - Edit
This is the restaurant within the Imperial Palace Nakadachiuri Rest Area. The menu is limited but offers a fantastic, filling vegan lunch if you request the vegan broth and vegetable tempura.

Great vegan udon in the palace! - Edit
Really happy to find this place when we were touring the imperial palace! The vegan udon was great and the staff was very helpful in identifying whether a flavouring packet they gave us was vegan (it was!).
