Straightforward

Stopped in and had the plant based breakfast. While it effectively amounts to avocado, cashew cheese, and seasonings on toast… it’s actually decent tasting and overall okay given the area this is in. Not a ton of other options at a glance.

Coffee was a miss but they were also slammed so maybe it’s just the rush. Staff were surprisingly nice given the area sees so much tourism.

Pros: Awesome staff

The Tofu Scramble is AMAZING

The Plant-Based Breakfast Bowl (featuring tofu scramble) was outstanding. I have never had scrambled tofu so amazingly prepared in a cafe. It was quite moist and flavourful - the cashew cream they saute it with is infused with garlic and thyme. Can't wait for another trip to Wanaka to enjoy this dish. Also enjoyed the cashew parmesan that accompanied the meal. It was so good -the chef actually cared about making sure vegan food was nicely prepared and tasted great. I really appreciate that.

Pros: Flavourful, with beautiful veg on the side, Moist tofu scramble, Perfectly cooked potatoes and veg

No vegan options

Unfortunately, no vegan options at all, at least for the main menu. No plant-based brekkie any more. A pity as the place is quite cute.

Pros: No vegan options

Good Breakfast

They have very limited vegan options, as everywhere else in Wanaka. The Plant based breakfast was surprisingly good but I was still a bit hungry afterwards.

Pros: Good vegan breakfast

Cons: Very few vegan options

Friendly restaurant

Asked for allium-free options. The chef came out and nicely what they can do for me. Friendly restaurant and enjoyed my Buddha Bowl.

Barely anything vegan

Only has 2 vegan starters and one possible main (budha bowl without the cheese).

Pros: Central

Cons: Limited vegan options

Solid option in Wanaka

So my scoring has been getting a bit harder as everyone drops 4’s and 5’s when really a 5 has to be pretty special and a 4 pretty damn good. So I would go a 3.5 as the quality was excellent but being biased it could do with some more choices or more choices that could be obviously veganised.

This is a solid option, nice cafe/restaurant set back a bit from the water, first row of buildings back from the water kind you not a hike. Plenty of seating, nicely furnished, big tables to cater for larger groups which is probably thing being a tourist town. Has outdoor seating which even in winter some people were using.

My opinion is, it has 2 solid options at any one time. The previous reviewers options didn’t exist this time so it means they change things up, which means they care and put in some effort in so 4.5 stars for that bit.

The menu I had, had a good solid big breakfast option, a porridge which I’m sure could be or is a plant based option for breakfast as well and a lunch option.

I had the Chili and Lime Rice Noodle Salad with Crispy Sesame Tofu. The tofu was delicious, fried so it was crusty on the outside with a soft center. Coated in sesame seeds a flavourful coating and marinated it was very good indeed. Salad was nice and fresh, good flavours. A bit light given I was hungry but maybe classified as a light to medium serve.

Good coffee, friendly staff

Pros: Good coffee, friendly staff, Good location, Quality meals

Cons: Slightly limited choice, Price in line with a tourist town and NZ

Not a hot dog to die for

There were a couple great options on the menu but the not dog was next level. It was the first time I have ever had one but it was like a de-constructed hot dog made from a carrot. So good

Pros: Not dog, Good service , On the waterfront

Cons: Has meat on menu
