Use to be ok

Use to be ok, the woman that use to be there seem to know what was vegan and what was not. I never really liked the mock stuff but sometimes I got some things like the scallion pancakes and they claimed the vegetable dumplings or spinach was vegan. I begged them not to add fish sauce and they seem fine about it. The dumplings were delicious actually. I sort of trusted the woman but then it changed. I didn’t see her anymore and the other workers unfortunately doesn’t seem to understand what’s vegan or not. I believe it’s all questionable now and I wouldn’t go there not as a vegan or vegetarian even. I think someone else bought the place and changed things and I wouldn’t trust them. They did mess up my order once. The waiter didn’t get vegan fried rice and they had added eggs. He didn’t get it when we tried to return it. But he did take it back eventually. I think he was new and culturally he didn’t get it (which was fine as long as he took it back). Anyway post covid the place isn’t great for veg heads anymore.

Pros: They did change the interior and it’s nice, I always loved the meditating dog statue, They use to have decent veg options

Cons: No longer trust worthy , Not sure if options are vegan anymore, Someone else may have taken over and things change

Not vegan!

It is terrible that they call the things vegan when they know it has egg in it.

Pros: They aren't vegan, admitted there is egg in it

Cons: Everything they call vegan had egg in it.

Omg awful. I called last week and they said they don’t use egg for anything on the vegan menu. That’s so messed up :/

Wendy, I don’t think you meant to give them 4 stars after reading your review. You might want to update that (if you can)

Not so sure "vegan" general taos is vegan...

This is my second time getting food here, wanting it to be good since I live within 5 minutes. First time I got general taos. Second time, when asking if ma po tofu could be made vegan, and as expected it had oyster sauce, then when I asked for general taos again, I learned that the fried "vegan" dishes have egg in the sauce or something of the sort...vegan crispy salted chicken was EXTREMELY salty.

Pros: Nice place, Friendly staff

Cons: Not as advertised?

Pros: The mock general tso’s chicken was off the hook

Good Chinese food but mediocre vegan meat

It's no real secret that mostly any Asian Cuisine is vegan or vegetarian. Most of their Cuisines is primarily made out of vegetables and wheat and Grains, - any animal protein, let alone fish sauce. But when it comes to making a veganized specific recipe. They seem to fall flat. When I went there I was told through this app that I had to remind them that they should not put any fish sauce in my food because for some other people's experiences they were forgetful at times. But when I tried their beef tips, it kind of tasted like it was overcooked. It wasn't juicy and it wasn't undercooked either but it was just too chewy for my mouth. I didn't want to take it home and I didn't want to spit it out so I just decided to eat it there out of respect. But the more and more I tried their other vegan meat options the more I just stopped going there for vegan options.

Pros: Conscious vegan options, Very friendly and considerate

Cons: Expensive, Overcooked

Mediocre and expensive

We wanted to like this place, but were disappointed. Baby bok choi and black mushrooms was 90% bok choi and 10% mushrooms, and cost $18. Mock meat was so-so and similarly pricey. Staff was friendly, though, and everyone else seemed to be having a fine time.

Great Vegan Meats

I love their vegan options. I always get the sesame chicken and have tried a few other things here and there. Definitely pricey and note that the meats don’t come with rice which is very unusual, but it’s only like a dollar more for rice which isn’t bad.

So good! ETA: terrible customer service, hair in my food

Me and my boyfriend get from here fairly often. Everything we’ve tried is great. The chick’n they use is a little dry, but the sauce makes up for it. Definitely fills the craving for Chinese food
Edited:
I ordered takeout from here on my birthday, when I got home the container wasn’t sealed and sauce was sweeping out of the bag and stained my carpet, this is the second time this happened, then when I was eating I found a white hair in my food. This was disgusting and ruined it for me, I called and complained and said I wanted a refund, to which I was assured the owner would call me back to address, that was on October 7th it is now the 13th and no call back. Clearly red tiger doesn’t care about its customers, closing take out containers, or keeping hair out of their food. So disappointing because I loved this place for a long time. Will not be returning.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Vegan menu

Cons: Somewhat expensive , Don’t care about customer complaints, Hair in my food

Fantastic food. **Cash tip required**

Dishes are clearly fresh. Asked for my vegan “tendons” extra spicy and they happily obliged. Wonderfully tasty and spicy. One note - cash tip required. Not a problem, you should just know. Try to arrive early as it will fill up FAST.

Pros: Separate vegan menu. , Cooked to order. , Super fresh.

Cons: Very busy.

Good selection, but expensive

Cute little restaurant with in my opinion a rather large selection of vegan dishes. I am used to there being only one vegan-able option in this area, and this restaurant had like 7 or 8 vegan dishes! The food is good, we had the orange chicken and the spicy tendons (which are a bit spicy indeed), but if you don't like the taste of meat, don't eat it! You could sell this stuff as actual chicken and people would be none the wiser, that's how similar it is.
We found it to be quite expensive, with tip its $70 for 2 people for 3 dumplings and 2 main courses. It's good, but not thát good. No rice included.

Pros: A lot of vegan options (for this area), Good food

Cons: Very realistic fake meat, Expensive

many vegan options

I ordered many vegan dishes. The place is small and basic (no table cloths etc.) but cozy. Nice servers.

good! I give it 4 stars with caution...

Only went once, so sometimes the first try is great and after that it’s goes all wrong. But the food was nice, there is a small vegan menu (very small). We ordered the pepper steak, it was good.

The waiter did have to ask us if we wanted a particular sauce because the sauce was not vegan or vegetarian. I wasn’t sure what it was, but I think it was for extra spicy (not traditional fish sauce, but this sauce did have fish in it). So the waiter did get that this wasn’t vegan and was nice enough to let us know, so we were able to tell them to not add that fishy hot sauce thanks to his warning.

We did have the veggie dumplings, the waitress did swear there was not any egg wash only veggies and no dairy. Usually it’s egg wash you have to worry about as per another Asian restaurant mentioned to me once. Although the dumplings were green and it had an ever so slightly sea taste, I believe it was seaweed in the dough, but I wasn’t sure to be honest. But the waiter seem to get we didn’t eat fish and such, he didn’t say this had fish sauce or anything. I tasted the filling alone and it did not taste like the sea. So I’m not sure, just FYI I am 95% sure dumplings are vegan, but not 100% sure.

Oh and you do have to order rice or something, these dishes did not come with rice. But it was enough for 2 people to split, maybe three if everyone ordered their own bowl of rice, which is $1 each.

I noticed on reviews elsewhere someone complained that they ordered something from the vegan menu and as the customer was picking up the order the staff had warned them that the vegan dish had bacon bits in it. They were confused as to why this dish was even on the vegan menu. So I’m not sure what that was about. But the reviewer didn’t mention which dish that was.

I like the atmosphere actually, it seems authentic to me and colorful, but it was cold where we sat, and it’s cash for tips.
So I give it 4 stars with vegan caution. It is small too.

Pros: vegan menu, good amount of food to split , colorful and authentic

Cons: small, have to order extra rice, a bit pricey, cash tip, may add fish sauce if not aware
