Old favourite

I've been going here decades and it's changed a lot over the years. Now it does a fairly good range of vegan options..I had the burger 🍔 very good. Definitely book ahead. The Well table is amazing but not that comfortable to sit at. A window table with view of stones.. amazing. Easy to get bus to from swindon. Small car park or park in National Trust one nearby.

Pros: Good vegan choices , Very characterful place, Lots of outside eating tables

Cons: Bar service can be slow.. gets busy

Nice pub food, several vegan choices

The red lion had quite a few vegan pub classics. The Mushroom and Ale pie was tasty (gravy sauce was gorgeous) but the pastry was a little firm. The betroot duo was beautifully presented but a bit bland unfortunately. All in all it was a nice meal and great to be able to have some old favourites again. The history of the Red lion is printed on signs on the wall - a fascinating read. And make sure to look down the Well that's been turned into a table in the dining room.

Pros: Vegan Pub food, Many choices, Nice atmosphere & history

Cons: Food wasn't quite as good as it could have been

Lots of options

Really enjoyed the food at the Red Lion but you have to book if you want a table. There were 4 options on the menu plus starters and desert options, plus they offered vegan mayo which is always appreciated. Also nice to see a drinks menu that lists the vegan options, plenty of wines on offer plus non alcoholic options.

Pros: Range of choices, Vegan option on the specials menu, Drinks list was marked up with vegan options

Deserves 5 stars

I’m a vegetarian, regularly choosing vegan if I don’t feel like I’m missing out by doing so. The vegan options on the menu all sound delicious. The two courses I had were amazing. Can definitely recommend (but HappyCow wants to save 5star reviews for veggie only restaurants)
Very kind towards dogs and in a beautiful spot too!

Pros: Very good menu/food not expensive, Location, almost within the stone circle, Dog friendly

Beautiful pub, a fantastic vegan offering

I was so impressed with Red Lion! It has a number of interesting vegan options - it had 2 vegan options on the specials, so I got those. Arancini as a starter and a vegetable tart as a main, both were incredible! Staff were all really attentive and nice, the pub itself is gorgeous. It made for a really idyllic pub lunch - really recommend it!

Good vegan options

Great to see more than one or two vegan options on a pub menu and something different to the inevitable falafel burger. There was a good meat-style burger, a pie, a veggie kofta, a curry and even fishless fish & chips. Plus a yummy gin & elderflower cheesecake-style dessert. The staff were knowledgeable and the food was good. Nice on Greene King for putting on a decent pub grub menu.

Pros: Good range of vegan options, Knowledgeable staff, Reasonably priced

Great food and good value

Several vegan dishes available including mushroom and ale pie, vegan fish and chips and vegan burger with vegan cheese.

I had the pie which had a great flavour and was well cooked and well presented.

Too full for a pudding but the vegan offering looked good, Gin, elderflower and Berry dessert.

Pros: Several vegan dishes, Starters, mains and desserts

Only pub in town

I wasn’t expecting to find vegan options in this town (it is very small and this is the only pub in miles)
However, I got inside because a friend wanted to eat there and i realised that in the menu there were some options for vegans, and more for vegetarians.
The food tasted good, but it was a bit expensive for what I ordered.
IT IS PET FRIENDLY AS WELL! Inside there are some bowls with water so that your four-leg friends can eat with you.
