Old favourite - Edit
I've been going here decades and it's changed a lot over the years. Now it does a fairly good range of vegan options..I had the burger 🍔 very good. Definitely book ahead. The Well table is amazing but not that comfortable to sit at. A window table with view of stones.. amazing. Easy to get bus to from swindon. Small car park or park in National Trust one nearby.

Cons: Bar service can be slow.. gets busy

Nice pub food, several vegan choices - Edit
The red lion had quite a few vegan pub classics. The Mushroom and Ale pie was tasty (gravy sauce was gorgeous) but the pastry was a little firm. The betroot duo was beautifully presented but a bit bland unfortunately. All in all it was a nice meal and great to be able to have some old favourites again. The history of the Red lion is printed on signs on the wall - a fascinating read. And make sure to look down the Well that's been turned into a table in the dining room.

Lots of options - Edit
Really enjoyed the food at the Red Lion but you have to book if you want a table. There were 4 options on the menu plus starters and desert options, plus they offered vegan mayo which is always appreciated. Also nice to see a drinks menu that lists the vegan options, plenty of wines on offer plus non alcoholic options.

Deserves 5 stars - Edit
I’m a vegetarian, regularly choosing vegan if I don’t feel like I’m missing out by doing so. The vegan options on the menu all sound delicious. The two courses I had were amazing. Can definitely recommend (but HappyCow wants to save 5star reviews for veggie only restaurants)

Beautiful pub, a fantastic vegan offering - Edit
I was so impressed with Red Lion! It has a number of interesting vegan options - it had 2 vegan options on the specials, so I got those. Arancini as a starter and a vegetable tart as a main, both were incredible! Staff were all really attentive and nice, the pub itself is gorgeous. It made for a really idyllic pub lunch - really recommend it!

Good vegan options - Edit
Great to see more than one or two vegan options on a pub menu and something different to the inevitable falafel burger. There was a good meat-style burger, a pie, a veggie kofta, a curry and even fishless fish & chips. Plus a yummy gin & elderflower cheesecake-style dessert. The staff were knowledgeable and the food was good. Nice on Greene King for putting on a decent pub grub menu.

Only pub in town - Edit
I wasn’t expecting to find vegan options in this town (it is very small and this is the only pub in miles)
Read moreHowever, I got inside because a friend wanted to eat there and i realised that in the menu there were some options for vegans, and more for vegetarians.
The food tasted good, but it was a bit expensive for what I ordered.
IT IS PET FRIENDLY AS WELL! Inside there are some bowls with water so that your four-leg friends can eat with you.
