High hopes on Cherry St - Edit
Red Bowl is a sleek looking restaurant situation in a growing Cherry St restaurant hub. From the pristine exterior and modern, colorful, and clean restaurant I had high hopes of a Chinese take-out experience that could became a hidden, local favorite of mine.
Read moreFirst of all, major kudos to them including a section of clearly marked vegan options. And, there are a decent amount to choose from. That is much appreciated. They probably could make some of their other dishes vegan, bur there was not a specific option to customize on their online ordering.
I ordered the tofu mapo, white rice, and spring rolls. The white rice was sticky and springy, much better than I can ever get right at home. The spring rolls were crunchy and greasy - a guilty pleasure.
Unfortunately the tofu mapo did not do it for me. I am not a fan of silken tofu in meals like this, so maybe this is a personal preference, but the tofu was so soft it tasted uncooked. I like some toughness on the outside. It really turned me off of the whole dish and restaurant . I ended up throwing the tofu away.
Maybe there are other, better options. Or maybe they make their tofu like this in all their dishes: just be aware of this if you are planning a visit.
Pros: Vegan options, Clean interior
Cons: Not entirely vegan, Uncooked tofu

Bland - Edit
Their menu was clearly labeled, however the food was ultimately flavorless and bland. Will not go again!

greasy chinese takeaway vibes - Edit
this was really quite tasty, and it gave me proper chinese takeaway feels! there was such a good selection of vegan options, considering this is an omni place! even the lo mein (my personal favorite) and the veggie fried rice are vegan, and they both typically are made with egg, so that was cool to see!
Read morethe staff was super friendly and service was quick and easy! will be returning here!
