This place ruined other sandwiches for me. Their house made “cheese” really is incredible. I want to live in a brick of their brie.

Just WOW! Absolutely amazing. - Edit
These are some of the best sandwiches you will EVER have in your life. Vegan or not. Top notch all the way. Try all of them but I highly recommend the Great Grinder, Bacon, Brie, Me and the Not Quite Cobb Salad. Deserts are amazing as well. Get some organic wine and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. And the brunch! Uhhhh!!!

✨ Yesss! Such a treat! ✨ - Edit
💚 All vegan 💚 I do not regularly eat imitation cheese so this was truly a special delight. We ordered the cheese board and the Tomato herb, Cheddar, and Brie cheese stood out. I also ordered the Capres salad and really enjoyed. Everything was phenomenal! I loved the outdoor atmosphere!

Stupidly Good - Edit
I got the cheese board at happy hour. They gave me the Brie and Cheddar cheeses with the red pepper jelly. This was the kind of meal you have to all but physically restrain yourself from inhaling because it’s that good. Slow down and savor those flavors! Staff was super lovely, so many snacks and wines to choose from. Can’t begin to praise this place enough

Ordered the bacon, Brie, me sandwich through UberEATS. Can’t wait to dine in one day and try out their other options. The sandwich arrived fresh and was great. Love the sweet fig jam on the sandwich.

Addictive - Edit
I got a charcuterie board and bacon turkey club to go. We started eating the charcuterie as a snack to hold us over until dinner. I couldn't stop eating and spoiled my dinner. I can't wait to tuck into my sandwich.

A Trailblazer for Vegan Cheeses - Edit
An entirely vegan fromagerie would have sounded like a surefire way to lose money about 10 years ago. However, Austin has never really played by the traditional rules, and we are better for it. Today, Rebel Cheese leads the charge in not just offering vegan selections but putting vegan options front-and-center, proudly exclaiming, "We can make this vegan, and we can make it better."
Read moreRebel Cheese would not look out of place next to any other fromagerie. In fact, I am willing to bet they have many customers who have no idea the tasty lunch they just ate was vegan. That is the beauty of Rebel Cheese. They offer a wide-selection of flavors of cheeses: a whole cabinet full of wonder. I made sure to pick an array of cheeses to bring back to my hotel for a homemade charcuterie board, accompanied with crackers and wine.
While still in the restaurant, we ordered two deli sandwiches. These were savory and filling. The bread was crisp and toasted, and the cheese was a great, sharp balance with the faux meat. I believe this is were Rebel Cheeses shines best - as a compliment to a dish. I would definitely be back for lunch.
I hate saying anything bad about a vegan restaurant like this, but I do feel this needs to be mentioned. A few of the individual cheeses that I purchased and brought home for my crackers were difficult to eat. They were difficult because the flavor was just so strong, so powerful to the point that I could not finish it. I understand that there is some compensating that has to be made when making vegan cheese without dairy, but this was maybe overcompensating. The flavor in particular was a truffle flavored cheese and the bleu cheese.
I believe if I went with more mild flavors to eat by themselves, or saved the stronger flavors for a dish, I would have appreciated these cheeses more.
Overall, Rebel Cheese is great, and I highly recommend it. To even see a place like this exist is exciting. If you live Austin, you've probably already been, but if you're visiting you need to make a voyage out of downtown to visit this trailblazer.
Pros: All Vegan, Wide selection, Deli lunch options are great
Cons: Not all the cheeses are great

We went for brunch and ordered Ham and Eggs Benedict, Bacon Brie Me, the Twisted Sam, and the Flake and Bake (favorite). Everything was good and was beautifully presented, but I was hoping for more flavor in the Benedict's Hollandaise sauce.

Unforgettable sampling experience! - Edit
I was visiting from the northeast US with a small group, and the owners gave us the unexpected honor of a full sampling experience -- the very week they were voted VegNews' best Austin restaurant! The selections included brie, sun dried tomato herb fromage, smoked cheddar, and honee pistachio chevre -- and our group members truly savored every sample. It was fascinating to hear the owners' stories of developing the cheeses, and to learn about their choice of ingredients. I was delighted to learn that many of their cheeses are "stock-up friendly" -- i.e. can be re-frozen after delivery -- and I plan to take advantage of their US coast-to-coast delivery.

Great Vegan Brunch Options - Edit
Their vegan brunch options are amazing and the staff is friendly HOWEVER we had a problem with was the fact that whenever you order and pay from the register, the system will automatically charge your card a 20% tip and so when you are presented with the screen to sign and tip, you are unknowingly significantly overtipping the restaurant.
Read moreMy husband and I spent about $100 when we were there but I had no idea about the extra surcharges until I looked at the receipts later. We do not have a problem with tipping, the problem that we have is the lack of communication.
I think about the families and individuals that occasionally dine out that happen to live on a limited budget. Please do better on communicating with your patrons.
Bouldin Creek Cafe will post signs at every table and their servers will inform every customer of the automatic 20% tip that is added to the bill due to the fair wage gap. All I ask is that Rebel Cheese does the same.

Austin Vegan Mecca - Edit
Oh what a time to be alive and be vegan! The food here is the future of vegan food: high quality, well crafted, delicious, and will have you wondering why dairy cheese even still exists. Everything I tried was *chef’s kiss* - I can’t wait to go back!
Read moreThey have an impressive selection of house-made cheeses, “outside” cheeses, vegan snack foods, and even *gasp* vegan macarons! Their house crafted drinks are also delightful (I can never turn down a good lavender lemonade). The building, outdoor seating, and location are also nice to top it off. Don’t miss Rebel Cheese when you’re in Austin!
Pros: Everything, Incredible cheese selection, Friendly staff
Cons: Some items are pricey, Pay for parking
