Good Food But The Wait is Not Worth It

Is the food good? You bet. But, is it worth continuing to give the owner a pass on the lack of time sensitivity? No! The service here is beyond slow. So being given the description “best slow food” by the owner is more than accurate. Had this been a one time or maybe even two time experience I’d say no big deal. But, being that this is the norm I have decided enough is enough. Today was my latest experience with Rawtopian Bliss. I called in my order at 12:30 for crab cakes and was told the order would be ready at 2. Understanding this is a popular dish I agreed to the pickup time. I arrived at 1:58 and the food was not done. The owner/chef said the food would be ready in another 20 minutes and asked if I would pay. When I said no I have errands to run I noticed the look of disgust (for lack of a better word) on her face. After running errands I came back 26 minutes later and the food was still not done! I waited an additional THIRTY MINUTES before my food was given to me! I have come to the point where no matter how well prepared, plated, or tasty the food is......if the owner does not value my time I refuse to value her establishment. The simple fact of asking for payment long before the food is even ready to be served to the customer tells me you value my money more than the quality of service you provide. If you have time and the patience of a saint to spare, by all means visit this restaurant. The food is delicious. But if you plan to go on your lunch break or when you have other places to be in a timely manner, do not waste your time going!

Pros: Good food, Quick pick up refrigerated foods

Cons: Beyond Slow, Chef/owner unbothered by slowness

Sooo good!

We had the crab cakes special, nori rolls, creamy kale salad, and mock tuna salad. Everything was beyond amazing and we can’t wait to try more!
Be sure to call ahead! It’s made with love and that takes time.

Pros: Amazing taste , Mostly raw, High quality

Best vegan option in SC!

Seriously, this may be the very best vegan and raw restaurant I have ever eaten at. The food is done at that moment, so yes, you will have to wait (it is called slow food) but what you will get is amazing. Amazingly original, edgy and tasty.

Pros: Good prices, Fresh, Tasty

Be prepared

This woman’s food is beautiful. Lovingly, artfully prepared and so delicious. But to really enjoy it fully you have to know and accept that you’re eating raw food which is very labor-intensive to prepare and will therefore be expensive and not fast to the table. She recommends calling ahead to order, which I’d say is essential; and even so you’ll still have to wait once you get there.

Pros: Delicious, Healthful, Good variety

Cons: Slow, Pricy

Great Spot (secret)

Awesome spot, right off the highway. Passing through on my way back to Atlanta. Very warm and welcoming staff, answered all my questions. And made awesome suggestions. It is easy to miss if you are not looking for it, however once you find it you will quickly realize that is more than worth the effort!!

Pros: All raw!!

Food is such experience. Personal attention is provided to each individual dish. Worth taking your time, and experiencing. I have also experienced cooking class - I am so glad Chef Saa has pursued her vision to share her love of nutrition with Columbia, SC.

SLOW service, great food

The food here is really good, but you'll wait a really, really long time before you get it. Apparently it's protocol to call an order ahead about an hour before you want to eat. When I visited, I was passing through the city on my way back to Atlanta and was eager to get back on the road. I ended up waiting 40 minutes for them to make me a salad. I ate raw key lime ice cream while I waited, and that was delicious. I went up to the counter to ask a question and they all freaked out and yelled at me and told me to sit back down. So service could be a bit better. There were people seated in the restaurant when I came in to place my to go order, too, and though I'm not sure when they arrived, it was a good 20 minutes after I arrived that they got water. That experience being what it was, the food was amazing. They really have their flavor profiles down here. I'd recommend it because of the great food, but it is expensive (as most raw food is) and that service/wait time could use a little help.
Also- the restaurant is located at the back of the building under an empty sign. Kind of hard to spot!

delicious food, peaceful atmosphere

Owners are very nice and know what they're doing. The menu changes daily so it's never boring. Me and my mother ordered the vegan pizza and hummus rolls which we thoroughly enjoyed. Even my mom, who was absolutely terrified trying a vegan restaurant for the first time, agreed it was the most delicious pizza she's ever eaten. And that's coming from someone who used to order Pizza Hut every other weekend!
Other than their amazing raw options, we also agreed that the hummus on the rolls were extrrrreeeeeemly salty. It was like dipping our tongues in a Himalayan pink salt shaker, and I can't handle a single grain of those! Maybe it's because we don't normally incorporate a lot of salt/oil in our diet, but we really wish some of their dishes on the menu would have less of it. They would taste just good without it, and I'd appreciate not having bad bloating after eating the otherwise really good food. Would recommend and come back myself!
