Expensive and with Limited choices

There were only one option by course, and the chief's bread is not vegan. The kitchen closes later than the other restaurants around, which makes it an option on such case.

Excellent food. Great service.

The staff are knowledgeable about veganism and the menu has clearly marked vegan items. There were 2 or 3 vegan options available when I went. P.S the waitress said the bread is not vegan. I believe they automatically bring it with the meal unless you ask them not to.

Small but excellent vegan options

Great space with friendly staff who were very receptive to vegans. I had the vegan orzotto and apple dessert, both excellent. They brought bread with oil as well. There was a vegan option for every course.

Lovely experience!

Great ambiance, fabulous service, and really tasty food. The house beer has a story behind it, so order it and ask. Had the white radish, and I don’t know what sauces they served with it, but omg, I needed more. Also loved that the sorghum was maybe toasted after it was cooked? Great texture. Tried the sea buckthorn cream for dessert because I had no idea what it was and it was delicious. Outstanding meal. I would have loved to have had a protein with it, though it’s not strictly necessary, but I would love to see what they could do with tofu though since they were so creative with a radish!

We had a great time

The place we wanted to go was fully booked, so this was a plan B. Well what a good surprise!
The food was very sophisticated and tasty, and they have a large selection of craft beer and wines.
Besides, the restaurant is cosy and the staff was super friendly.

Pros: creative cuisine, Estonian wine

Great new find in Tallinn!

Restorant V was fully booked (because we always try last minute *shrug*), so we ended up at Rataskaevu 16, not far from V. Staff was knowledgable ("Ah, I'll bring you other bread, as our homemade is glazed with egg!"), there is not too many options to choose from, but the menu is short in general, so there's that. We had a great plate with Hummus as a starter, and different mains, an Orzotto and a roasted radish. Sea buckthorn creme as a dessert. Not the hugest portions, but good taste, would go back :)

Pros: Dishes away from the ordinary, Knowledgable staff, Cute setting

Cons: Small-ish portions if you're a big eater?

Good food and lovely place

The food was really good and i loved sitting in their yard. There should be more vegan options but the menu is also quite small so i understand.

Pros: Vegan options

Cons: on the expensive side, small portions

Great food AND bread

Happened to be here by accident, as other restaurants were completely booked. Got a spot for 1 hour here and enjoyed the splendid vegan dish. Highlight has been the bread, homebaked and fresh out of the oven. Served with herb infused oil. Staff was super friendly and helpful too

Amazing service

The food was great (even though the vegan options are very limited) but the best thing about our experience there was without a doubt our waitress. She was the best waitress that has ever served me, extremely nice and helpful. Their homemade bread was also delicious.

Pros: Best waitress ever

6/5 There's something wrong with the rating system

Reservation:
It is essential to book well in advance. There is a second restaurant with the same dishes, but it might be fully booked too.
5.0 (!) out of 7.033 reviews on Tripadvisor
4.9 out of 1.498 reviews on Facebook
4.8 out of 2.398 reviews on Google
...actually says all. But is it worth these good reviews?

Food:
Appetizer: Surely the best black bread in town (especially when it's fresh and hot from the oven) and a little greeting from the kitchen served with butter, but olive oil is possible aswell.
Mushroom tartar, black bean cream, red onion and fig jam, rocket leaves 8,60 €
Oven-baked sweet potato with mung beans, kale pesto, mushrooms, pear 11,80 €
Baked apple (Christmas Menu) 6,50 €
The vegan menu is limited, but so the decision is not difficult:
2 x starters, 1 x soup, 1 x main, 1 x dessert
Beautifully served. Outstanding Quality. The size of the dishes are rather small, so it's advisable to order something to add to the main course.

Drinks:
Large selection of craft beers, wines and lemonades + I got free tap water.
Fritz less sugar 4,50 €
Sauna Alus 6,00 €
Espresso 2,50 €

Ambience:
Located in a beautiful old building, it has a warm and cozy atmosphere. Problematic: If you sit in the entrance area, you will see sad faces every 5 minutes, which are sent away because there are no more free tables.

Service:
Despite constantly changing waiters in the last years, it's always the best service I have ever seen. Friendly, giving advices, the food is explained after serving. The drawings on the bill and napkins are of course studied. But depending on the conversation with the waiter they range from a simple "Thank you" to an avalanche of remarks that refer to the previous conversation. You don't have to like it. I like it. Always a nice souvenir to remember a fine dinner.

Price-performance ratio:
Over the years, the prices have been adjusted to the central european price level. But they are still justified. Fun fact: Fritz Cola costs 0,99 € in our local supermarket. In 2015 it was 2,50 € @R16 and in 2019 it was 4,50 €. Sure – drinks are an important source of income for restaurants.
The price increase since 2015 is an indicator for this thesis: Fritz: + 80 %, Starter: + 56,93 %, Main course: + 49,75 %, Dessert: + 66,67 %.
For a similar qualitative food and service, you would surely have to pay a three-digit amount in Germany.

PS: Referring to my review title: Don't make Veganism elitist. Make it popular. Encourage Meat-Eaters. Step. by. step.

Amazing food

Rataskaevu 16 has the vibe and service quality of fine dining restaurants, and the food is on that same level. The flavors of the sweet potato dish I had were amazing and their fresh bread was delicious. Definitely book a table in advance though - the place is really popular. I would give 5 stars if I could.

Pros: Customer service, Amazing food

Cons: Extremely popular

Wonderful

We had a wonderful experience here; probably the friendliest service I've encountered (outside of the US maybe), and also really quick. The grilled avocado-lentil dish was very imaginative and delicious, and the freshly baked bread on the house tasted great as well.

Pros: Great service, Imaginative dishes

Cons: No airconditioning

Delicious and Fancy

The perfect restaurant to visit with omnivores because the vegan food is plentiful and tasty and the menu has something for everyone. Good wine selection and wonderful service. Highly recommend getting a reservation, if possible. Otherwise, go for dinner after 9:30pm and you can usually walk in.

Fine quality restaurant

Because of it´s top rating on TripAdvisor it is difficult to get a table. I reccommend booking it in advance. Sevice was lovely and with good attitude. Food was tasty, but small portions as peculiar to fancy restaurants. The fresh bread was AMAZING! Best bread I have ever had. They make it fresh on spot every morning. Waiter saw that we loved the bread and because we went late in the evening he even gave us one to take home because they will make new one in the morning and had this one leftover.

Pros: Best bread, very fresh, moist and soft, Good service, Good location

Cons: Hard to get a table

Amazing vegan food in Tallinn

The busiest restaurant in Tallinn due to its quality food! Absolutely delicious and locally sourced products. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Highly recommended!
